Sherri Shepherd update
Again: Rumors, but this time, word seems to come from Sherri and family directly.
She was emailed by numerous fans, and told one that the baby was born at 25 or 26 weeks (the two sources differ on this) and did survive, but he has numerous serious medical problems, including bleeding on the brain. The baby will be both mentally and physically disabled, should he make it through. Sherri says she appreciates all the prayers, and to please continue to pray for her son, so if you are spiritual, please do so. I’m sure they can used all the help they can get. She and her husband Jeffrey are hoping for a miracle.
Thanks to Cajazzy at PMCOG, who got the email, and Shawn, who gave us a heads up this morning and additional details.

I pray that her baby makes it and he turns out to be healthy. I believe in miracles so I’m hoping this will be one of them.

If this is true, that’s extremely premature. He would not be out of the woods for several months. Good luck to the Shepherd family.

My prayers are with Sherri and her family. My Goddaughter was born at 25 weeks resided in the NICU for approximately 4 months and is now a very healthy, happy 7 year old!!! Miracles do happen everyday.

My prayers go out to Sherri and her family…My twins were born at 23 weeks and only one survived…the twin we lost had the same complications as Sherri’s precious baby boy….I sure hate for anyone to go through the pain I went through.

That is so sad. I will pray for Sherri’s son and her family.

My own son was born at 26 1/2 weeks and is almost 6 years old now. He’s perfect and healthy in every way, so I know that miracles do happen. My prayers will be with them, I know how difficult this can be.

May 5th, 2005 at 11:11 am
Oh wow that is so awful to hear. She was just on the view a few weeks ago looking great. They will all be in my prayers.

I’m sorry, I just don’t buy any of this!! I think someone is making this stuff up!!!
Remember just a while ago how 2 sources said for sure that Elisabeth’s baby HAD been born, and they both turned out to be false. People lie all the time for attention!!
I won’t believe any of what’s been said about Sherri, until I hear it from her or someone who represents her.
May 5th, 2005 at 1:58 pm
Yeah, that’s fine, you don’t have to! I just wouldn’t hold your breathe for an announcement on this. And one of the sources is Sherri’s family, so we’re thinking it’s reputable. Or hoping, rather.

Is sherri the lady from almost perfect? My prayers are with them!
May 5th, 2005 at 3:09 pm
Aww poor lady I hope all turns out,I had a friend whoes son was born at 27 due to Intro uteral groth retardation. So he was actually smaller then 27 weeks ,He is now 4 and thoughhas autism he is the cutest kid

Heather, I think you’re being really insensitive. Why would Sherri lie about almost losing her baby? It just isn’t something you lie about. And I don’t think she’s the type to lie about this for attention. Also, I doubt this is something you want to make public. It must be really painful for her.

I understand her doubt, this is all secondhand information.

That is so very sad. My heart and prayers go out to Sherri, her husband, and her new son. I hope he survives with minimal damage to his brain and body. I believe in miracles, too!

My cousin Aurora was born at 24 weeks, weighing 1lb 5 oz. Now, she is 7 years old, incredibly bright and energetic, and suffers no health problems from being 3 months premature. hopefully, this baby will have the same luck she had.

On imdb.com, it states that she lost the baby during the 6th month of pregnancy (he was due in August).
May 6th, 2005 at 2:40 pm
IMDB copied my original post almost word for word, and after I said that it was only a rumor, they posted it as fact. They aren’t a good source.

Anyone with a computer can add info to IMDB, so someone probably read it on here and copied it right over. I wouldn’t believe what is on there either (although it’s my 2nd favorite website, next to this one, of course!).

I happen to be a member of a fertility/pregnancy bulletin board along with Sherri. It was pretty unique to have a celebrity openly posting on the boards. She posted regularly and had a lot of complications from the beginning of her pregnancy. She posted that her son was born at 25 weeks on April 22, at 1 lb. 10 oz. At last report (early June), he was still holding on, but needing a lot of medical support. For obvious reasons, she has not been posting anymore, but keeps members informed about her son’s progress. She is in our prayers.

I am praying for you girl, hang in there God will help you get through this.

My son was a 25 week preemie…..and all is well now two years later…Her baby will be just as strong and before you know it running around causing all kinds of fun-loving grief !!!

that’s terrible. i will definitely pray for sherri, her husband, and especially the baby. a friend of mine just went through a similar situation with an unhappy ending, so i know how painful this is.
