An unusual celebration for Rod Stewart and Family
To celebrate the birth of his month old son Alastair, rocker Rod Stewart buried the birthing placenta in a backyard garden after spreading it with tea tree oil. Rod and his fiancee, Penny Lancaster, then planted a walnut tree, bought by Penny’s mother, over the placenta. The couple held a ceremony around the planting, citing that Penny’s placenta would now be able to live on spiritually for centuries.
"We brought the placenta home and put it in the freezer so we could bury it later," Penny said. "I said, ‘This is for our little Alastair. May he have a long and healthy life.’ Rod then passed a spade to his son Liam, who shoveled in some earth. Then we all took turns. We all jumped on the top and flattened the ground. It was a resting place for it."

Unusual, but I know in some cultures they do bury the placenta for reasons like Penny mentioned. Hey, whatever floats your boat, I guess!!

In New Zealand Maroi Culture they Bury the placenta and his last wife was a new zealander so they might of gotten it from there. it’s very common in new zealand

I am from New Zealand. I am not a Maori but I still buried my children’s placentas and planted a tree for them. I had my last child’s placenta in the freezer for about 6 months until our new home was built before I buried it. My brother thought it was disgusting….lol.
