"My baby self weaned despite me trying to keep up the nursing! I find it so refreshing to hear Gwen talk about how hard she works to lose weight and keep herself in top shape. She looks great and has a beautiful family."

SNL star Maya Rudolph on her six month old daughter Pearl

Maya_rudolph CBB reader Elizabeth picked up the June/July issue of BUST magazine, and found an interview with SNL star Maya Rudolph inside. Maya and her director boyfriend of almost five years, Paul Thomas Anderson, welcomed their daughter Pearl back in October, and are currently living in California. Some highlights from the interview:

-Maya feels lucky to have such a good kid: "I have to say I think we got really lucky.  I knew that we would have a great baby, but I think she is exceptional."

-When Maya must fly to New York City for work on SNL, Pearl has got to come – she’s exclusively breastfed. Says Maya, "I have to bring her the whole time.  She’s a 100 percent breast-fed baby.  She needs the boob constantly!"

-Luckily for Maya and Paul, Pearl is a good traveler: "She’s just a world-class traveler.  She does well on the plane and she’s friendly.  It’s really hilarious to see her with strangers; she smiles at everybody.  She’s a sweet lady."

-Would Maya like to see Pearl in show biz, like mom, dad, and grandma (Maya’s deceased mother, Minnie Riperton)? "I want her to be a happy person.  I want to make sure she grows up in an environment that she likes.  I just want her to experience the world, just keep traveling and seeing all kinds of things and all kinds of people. "

-Motherhood is a whole new world for Maya: "It’s kind of scary to think I don’t have a plan right now.  I don’t have a plan!  I never really knew what it would be like to be someone’s mother.  That’s a whole new plan unfolding."

Thanks to CBB reader Elizabeth for the highlights. For the entire interview, pick up the June/July issue of BUST.
