Tom’s Message to Brad Pitt and baby Shiloh Nouvel

Steiff460_1Hello! reports that Tom Cruise congratulated Brad Pitt on the birth of his daughter Shiloh Nouvel with a "cheeky card" proclaiming, "Congratulations! You’re following in my footsteps!" Tom gifted baby Shiloh with a teddy bear.

According to the Daily Mirror,"Tom and Brad have had a friendly rivalry since acting together in Interview With A Vampire. The card was taken in good spirits."  No word on whether or not Brad returned the favor and sent Cruise’s new daughter Suri a gift.

We were told that Tom sent a Steiff Horace, the Longfellow Bear, the world’s best-known manufacturer of high-quality Teddy bears and plush animals (or at least that’s what they say).  Horace, a 1904 reproduction and a limited edition of 1,500 bears, is a whopping $460.

I’m sorry but I think Tom Cruise is totally creepy. It was nice to send a gift but not in the spirit of “I had my baby before you had yours.” Creep.

  2. stephanie Says:

i think it was meant to be a joke. i don’t see what’s so creepy about it, it’s just a friend congratulating a friend. it’s no different than when George Clooney make jokes when Brad applied to adopt Maddox and Zahara.

this really not directed to you, crzymaid, but it annoyed me because Tom has been so over the top the last year, everyone just took every joke and sarcastic comments he made literally (ie placenta eating) it’s too grade school. Scientologists are people too! :D

  3. crzymaid Says:

I appreciate what you’re saying Stephanie, and just for the record I don’t have any problems with Scientologists, only with people who have religious or other convictions that they feel compelled to jam down other peoples’ throats. Which is why I took a recent dislike to TC.

This was more creepy to me in the context of there being this “rivalry” between the two of them which appears to me to come more from TC’s end than BP’s.

  4. gargoylegurl Says:

Sometimes Tom is a little odd, but I think in this case he was just being kind and teasing his friend.

    That bear is adorable!

  5. Tranae Says:

I don’t think Tom is a creep…I thought it was a very sweet gesture from a seemingly sweet guy. Also…the bear is adorable but $400?!?! I could of brought a mean pair of pumps for that.

  6. stephanie Says:

hence the ‘friendly’ in ‘friendly’ rivalry. i agree that some of the things he’s done is terrible but, i still don’t see what he’s doing wrong with congratulating Brad. i saw footage of them backstage at MTV movie awards a couple of years ago laughing and making fun of each other, i don’t think this is any different than when two girlfriends pregnant together and have a ‘race’ to see which one pop first. but hey, to each of their own.

  7. mystique Says:

Of course lets keep in mind that this may not even be true.

Brad and Tom are friends, Brad even flew in his private jet back to Malibu from Namibia. You can bet that whatever sentiment he’s sent that it was genuine and taken in good faith. Tom also said that he was very, very happy for Brad and Angelina in GQ and that Brad was a good guy.

So lets not make mountain out of a mole hill.
