Brad Pitt and Maddox ATV fun
Brad Pitt and four year-old son Maddox were seen having fun on their ATVs in Santa Barbara on Monday afternoon. Gavin Rossdale also joined the two on his own ATV while wife Gwen Stefani held baby son Kingston. Brad’s 18 month-old daughter Zahara rested under a palm tree with an unidentified woman.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children under 16 should not operate off-road motorized vehicles (i.e. ATV, personal watercraft, snowmobile or minibike). For information regarding kids and ATVs (All Terrain Vehicles), please visit The Injury Free Coalition for Kids.

I’m kind of sick of all the comments telling celebrities what to do and not to do with their kids. these kids their responsibility and non of our buisness. they couldn’t care less what we think they should or shouldn’t do. I think Mad looks real cute on his bike (there are thousands of tiny kids riding race cars, mini motorbikes and cart bikes every day).

It’s so funny how you guys aren’t freaking out at the fact that this young kid is riding an ATV. If this were Brit and her kid you’d be claiming that her parenting skills are crap, but because it’s Brad and he’s like the father of the year, it’s all ok.
July 5th, 2006 at 6:53 am
hey I’m also all for Brit being left alone and not commented on 24/7…that’s what i meant with “celebrities” (in general).

Ummmm, that is a Fisher Price toy for ages 3 & up.

People really need to know the facts before they type.

HAHA.. well done, RR.

How cute! I wonder who had more fun- Brad or Maddox? lol
Also Hello Magazine says the woman under the tree with Zahara is Angelina.
July 5th, 2006 at 7:52 am
LOL that it’s a kid’s toy and not an ATV, altough I do agree that if that had been Britney and her son everyone would have jumped on her once again!
July 5th, 2006 at 7:54 am
Actually, that is not the Power Wheels model shown on the Fisher Price website, or Amazon. It may end up being a Power Wheels or similar electric ATV, but it’s not the Kawasaki KFX Ninja. Dirt-bike style handle bar and wheels made of rubber, not plastic.

atleast the kids wearing a helmet!

RR- You should probably take pause before you type. Upon closer inspection, Maddox is clearly NOT on a Fisher Price ride on toy. If you do the 360 view on the Fisher Price website and then examine the pictures again, you will quickly deduce they are not even remotely the same thing. The model ATV he is riding more closely resembles this:

I think that we all need to “live and let live.” That goes for every celebrity. I agree others would have been down Britney’s throat which is just plain wrong. No matter who is in the picture here they are dong no wrong. Those mini ATV’s are designed with 100% safety in mind. It doesn’t matter if it is the Fisher Price version or not. They don’t want a law suit so they are going to protect and make them safe. It is no different than riding a bike. All outdoor equipment is dangerous unless improperly used and abused. Most mini ATV’s go a whooping 5 mph! My son has one and he is 3 and let me tell you it is slow. What is important here is that he is wearing a helmet and hardly is in any of the pictures which is also good shows that he is out of the way of the big guys riding around. I do think this story could have been presented much better here. It takes a couple of minutes to search a few web pages for the make of that bike. There are only so many ATV manufactures out there. If the exact manufacture, model and color of a sling can be identified this is a sinch! Lighten up everybody celebrities really do love their kids and NONE of them are actually trying to cause them harm. They need to live so lets all be happy that all the celebrity pictures we see on here show the parents spending time with the kids!

I didn’t know that Gwen and Gavin were friends with Brad and Ange. It appears that they’re suddenly together a lot!

They do make ATV’s for younger children. My 13 year old cousin, then 11 had an ATV that was geared for his weight class and age. And they do make mini ATV’s. Parents just have to buy the right ones.

the unknown women is Angelina i no cause she had the long hair and shes holding Shiloh
why wouldnt she be there to see them and make sure that there ok
plus if she wouldnt of been there and she was home taking care of Shiloh, wouldnt Z be with her??

I’m not surprised in the least that Maddox has his own ATV. If the little 5.5 yr old boy who lives across the street from me lived out in the country, he’d most surely have a mini ATV, motorcycle, dirtbike/motorcross bike, etc. because he’s that talented.
Even though for legal reasons the manufacturers post that people under 16 aren’t supposed to ride those minibikes, it doesn’t mean that some families don’t allow their kids to ride on their own properties.
This was probably the case for Maddox, and I’m sure it’s the case for many mini-dirtbike/ATV/motorbike/go-kart riders out there.
(Actually I can still remember my cousin taking me for a ride in his three-wheeled go-kart through the backwoods behind his family’s farm about 25 yrs ago, and we had to have been only 6 and 7 years old at the time!)

This is an ATV made for kids is age. My son has one and there is nothing wrong with it. I don’t think it is the Fisher Price Brand but it is similar to it. They both have cute families.

real or not, parents are the ultimate decider on what their children do – whether it is britney, joe blow down the street, or people who read this blog.
kids use those things all the time… around here young children do motocross, often younger than 5 years old. seriously.. since when do ANY of us really check out all of the recommendations from the academy of ped’s? i mean i guess its nice to have that noted, but we’re all REAL people even the celebs.. we decide what is right or what is not for our children…
July 5th, 2006 at 11:34 am
I’d never let my four year old drive an ATV sorry. Not even if I were a billionare like Brad & Ange.
July 5th, 2006 at 12:51 pm
man what is wrong with you people? i dont care what kind of ATV it is..they all role very easily and he could be seriously hurt, and i agree with others on this site, if this were britney spears everyone would be ready to burn her at the stake, but b/c its “brad pitt” everyones like awww isnt that cute, he lets his 4 year old son ride a dangerous ATV…
July 5th, 2006 at 2:49 pm
I wouldn’t let my child ride on one either. I am glad to see he’s wearing a helmet though. As for Britney: I guess that would depend on what age Sean was while doing it. If she rode on one of those with Sean as a baby then I’m sure people would make a big deal out of it. But I don’t buy the whole theory that Britney is being unfairly targeted by the press, I think she has earned the negativity through her own actions.

I think he is too young to drive it, kids model or not, and I think it’s wrong of both Brad and Gavin not to wear helmets. They are being totally irresponsible. I don’t mean to nag but I just don’t understand why adults have such a problem putting on a simple lifesaving helmet when they are aware enough to put them on their kids (thank God). The same goes for seatbelts and lifejackets. If you make your kids wear it, wear it yourself and show that you are responsible too.
July 5th, 2006 at 3:25 pm
If you think its wrong for your child to ride an ATV then don’t let your child ride one. Obviously its ok with Brad & thousands of other parents in America. My 6 year old son rides one. I won’t tell you how to raise your children, so please don’t tell me how to raise mine.

I dont have an issue with Maddox on the ATV (hopefully the govenor is set to a slow speed) But I do see a problem with the ADULTS not setting a good example, attempting to do tricks, and NOT wearing a helmet. Yeah, it would probably mess up their hair, but how much would it mess up their lives if they fliped and landed on their heads??
July 5th, 2006 at 4:34 pm
redsgirl: I’m not sure who you’re aiming your comments towards. No one on this thread said that you shouldn’t let your child do that. Two people (myself included) said that we wouldn’t let our own children ride one, and then we left it at that, we didn’t say no one else should let their child do that. We were merely expressing our opinions about this issue, which is our right to do.

I am 40 yrs. old…. from the age around 8 (and up) there wasn’t a motorized vehicle I wouldn’t ride. However, then AND now I would NEVER ride one w/ out safety gear. If the APPROPRIATE vehicles, safety gear, and proper operating skills are used I can see allowing a child under VERY supervised conditions to ride. I think one must KNOW one’s child. My sister (now 35) was nearly killed on a 3 wheeler when she was 11 yrs. old. The thing flipped (on grass) and one of the tires landed on her leg and took off the top layer of skin from her hip to her ankle. The tire had continued to spin…. she got what was the equivalent of a third-degree burn. She was in agony and on crutches for quite some time…the most painful thing I’ve ever seen her go thru.

If it’s okay to let the kids ride those little motorized razor motorcycles then what’s wrong with a 4 wheeled ATV? My nephew is 5 and is DYING to get on one but around here there isn’t any safe place for him to do it. His parents told him to learn to ride w/out training wheels and then they’d consider letting him ride the mini motorcycle….the kid learned to ride a two wheeler in less then 2 hours!! lol
