“I was brought up to believe I could do anything I wanted professionally and, of course, be a mother at the same time — but I’m finding that it’s complicated. It requires a lot of thought and planning and I haven’t figured it out yet.”

Gwyneth Paltrow on pregnancy, weight loss, and being a ‘milk machine’

Gwyneth_paltrow2Actress Gwyneth Paltrow, 33, graces the cover of the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar. In her first interview since the birth of son Moses in early April, Gwyneth opens up about motherhood this time around. Highlights include:

-Gwyneth gained 40 lbs with each pregnancy, and took 20 lbs home from the hospital each time. She said her body seems to keep the weight on until the baby is 3 months old – it’s happened both times – and then she starts to lose.

- On post pregnancy figures, Gwyneth says, "The first time, you are horrified…all lovely when you are pregnant; but when you are not pregnant and you haven’t been for a couple of months and you are still carrying tons of extra weight and everything’s all hanging and sagging, you think, How is this ever going to go back? But it does. If you do a lot of working out."

-However, Gwyneth doesn’t pretend her body is perfect, saying, "[Everyone] should see the cellulite on my thighs right now."

-Although Gwyneth has been working out, she hasn’t been dieting because she’s nursing Moses. "I’m a milk machine…I’ve got the appetite of a breastfeeding mother,” she said.

-Gwyneth says her treat to herself is a glass of wine after the kids are in bed. Specifically, she enjoys "California and New Zealand pinot noirs," and likes to "come downstairs [after putting the kids to bed], pour myself a glass of red wine and sit in the garden" of her and Chris Martin’s London home when they are in town.

there’s nothing “down to earth” about her! between her crazy expensive, particular diet, her multiple continent spirit-cleansed houses, and her $200 diesel jeans for apple i would say she’s got her nose pretty up in the air. can you really picture her in a bowling ally drinking a high life? please!!!

I adore Gwyneth! In fact, if I could choose one celebrity friend, she would be the one. I love her style – both parenting and personal. I might just buy this magazine! (I would not ordinarily buy a magazine just to read one interview, but I confess I’m a Gwyneth fan!.

    Hello, This is Mary

I am 36 years old with 2 toddlers. My youngest just started day care last week- which still feels a little strange. I haven’t had this much time to myself in years. First thing I want to do is lose the extra pounds I put on during the last pregnancy. One of the girls next door has suggested I join her walking group two days a week. After my first pregnancy I lost around 35 pounds using the Herbalife products, but when I called the man that sold them to me three years ago he told me this week he doesn’t sell them anymore. He told me to look on the internet. It’s disappointing because he was really nice and he called me regularly to make sure I was using their products correctly. It was nice to have someone checking in with me every week to see how I was and it kept me motivated.

I searched on the internet for someone that sells Herbalife in New Jersey. I found many websites but I don’t want
just to buy the products, I want to find someone trustworthy that sells the products so I can also meet them and get started again.

Could anybody here recommend someone in New Brunswick?.

    Thanks, Mary

You know… Gweneth is right! After leaving the hospital you want your old figure back but that doesn’t happen. It took 9 months to put it all on so you have to gin=ve yourself time to get it all off. At least 9 months. And being a breastfeeding mother myself, it won’t come off just like that because you can’t deprive your body of the nutrients it needs to produce the milk. I find that many women don’t breastfeed for selfish reasons like wanting to get their old figure back by taking those wonder pills that are only temporary fixes (and dangerous) or not wanting to lose their breasts. At least Gweneth encourages exercise and health instead of pills and anorexia.
