No nanny for Suri Cruise
According to Vanity Fair’s Jane Sarkin, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes do not have a full-time nanny for baby Suri. They are very hands-on, she told Entertainment Tonight. "Not a nanny. They have a woman who helps them with the baby sometimes but the children do a lot of housework, chores. Every morning, they’re all fighting over who is going to get Suri out of her crib, who is going to give her her first bottle."

Wouldn’t a woman who helps them with the baby sometimes still be considered a nanny? That’s great that they’re reportedly doing so much of the caregiving themselves though.

You see so many pictures of Tom and Katie out and about without Suri, so someone has to be taking care of her when mom and dad aren’t around.
I was wondering about the nursing too when I heard the editor’s comment. If she is still nursing I think it would be odd to give the baby a bottle first thing in the morning, especially if mom is there.

I have 3 children, all fed with breast milk. I say it like that because I pumped milk & stored it in bottles in the fridge. This way I could get much needed rest & my husband could do the 3am feedings. It was also really great when I went back to work & they were able to still get breast milk. I can see where Katie could maybe be doing that too.

It seems like they spend an awful lot of time without her for a couple without a nanny.

If she is a real scientologist, she would not be breastfeeding at all since it’s not allowed.
From Wikipedia:
“Hubbard also wrote that breastfeeding should be avoided. Hubbard compared replacement formulas circa the mid-1950s, which he described as “mixed milk powder, glucose and water, total carbohydrate”, with what he considered the “skim breast milk from … overworked mother[s]” that “smoke and sometimes drink”; as an alternative to commercial products, Hubbard offered what he called the “Barley Formula”, made from barley water, homogenized milk, and corn syrup or honey. Hubbard claims that “I picked it up in Roman days.”[18] He crafted the barley formula to, in his words, provide “a heavy percentage of protein”"

Breasts are usually full of milk in the morning (especially if Tom is bottlefeeding at night) so if she was still nursing she would most likely be feeding her then and giving bottles through the day or at night.
Maybe they’ve moved her onto the “Scientology formula” recipe. (gag)

It could have been pumped milk in bottles.

Did anyone else notice that the “scintology formula” contains corn syrup OR HONEY???
Honey is a big no-no for children under 12 months!!

whatever she chooses to feed her baby it is HERS and TOM’s choice. Suri looks very happy and healthy, which is all that matters!

Who cares if she is nursing or formula feeding. Maybe it did not work out for her either way they look like a great family.

I would be very interested in knowing more about this woman that helps them with the baby…how much do you want to bet that it’s the infamous Jessica?

To whomever pulled that thing off Wikipedia about breastfeeding not being allowed in Scientology – it is not true.
I am a Scientologist, and am currently breastfeeding my 21 month old daughter. My mother in law, also a Scientologist, is breastfeeding a 2 1/2 year old son. My best friend, a Scientologist, is nursing her two year old daughter.
Word to the wise – don’t listen to obvious BS, OK?

My older sister was breastfed until 1 1/2.
I was breastfed 2 weeks. My younger brothers (TWINS!) were breastfed 3 weeks.

I don’t believe it… they probably do employ a nanny, but don’t acknowledge it, so that they come across as the all-american fam. I remember when victoria beckham famously said that they did not employ a nanny and then lo and behold, it came out that they did… celebs– they totally know how to work the publicity machine so that they come out looking like winners…

Yeah right LOL
“they do not have a full time nanny”
“They have a woman who helps them with the baby sometimes”
ahhh…so does that mean they have a part-time nanny?
Why don’t they just admit it?! I remember reading Gwyneth Paltrow didn’t have a nanny then…gosh…she writes the foreword in her nannys book LOL Obviously Gwneyth had forgotten ever denying she employed someone. As someone has already pointed out Tom and Kate have spent a lot of time away from Suri so someones looking after her…sheesh
