Cute name.
October 24th, 2006 at 1:06 pm
i love that name!..its cute..and heck its alot better than ‘Sutton’ which is what I previously heard was his name.
October 24th, 2006 at 1:14 pm
It is okay. I like it a lot better than Sutton Pierce though.
October 24th, 2006 at 1:19 pm
I’m thrilled that she named the new kid Jayden. My son’s name is Sutton (he’s 1) and I was horrified when I heard he might be sharing a name with Brit’s baby!
October 24th, 2006 at 1:26 pm
i really like the name… it’s actually the name i’m considering for our second child if it’s a boy.
October 24th, 2006 at 1:29 pm
I think it sounds like somthing she would choose. She seems to be more into the common names rather then the uncommon.
October 24th, 2006 at 1:29 pm
How about a “just ok” category on the poll. The name is just that: just ok
October 24th, 2006 at 1:40 pm
I didn’t like Sutton Pierce – sounds like the name of a brand of wine, not a child. Plus, I find the sound of Sutton to be very unattractive.
While I don’t like Jayden James (has “Jay” in both names, Jayden looks made-up, and is uber-trendy and not all that classy), I think it “fits” the Britney-Kevin clan.
October 24th, 2006 at 1:40 pm
I am thrilled it isn’t Sutton, I had this name picked for our son due in April before they announced it and was devastated. I am doing the happy dance now! And Jayden is cute too.
October 24th, 2006 at 1:47 pm
I bet they call him JJ for short. I like the name though, good luck to them.
October 24th, 2006 at 1:48 pm
It is way better than Sutton but still not my taste. I am actually surprised, I think it’s TOO trendy for Brit. Sean Preston was perfect, this name is ehhhh.
October 24th, 2006 at 1:48 pm
I think it’s a cute name, and goes well with Sean. At least it’s normal, and easy to say. For boys especially, I like normal type names. My cousin named his son Jaden. Now can’t wait to see pics of Jayden, bet he is a cuter like his brother. Maybe by next week pictures will be released because, she released Sean’s pictures around this time last year, and kevin’s cd comes out on the 31st.
October 24th, 2006 at 2:13 pm
Common is a good description of it!
Then again, Sutton Pierce was one of those names that seemed like someone trying to sound like something they are not–pretentiousness to a higher class–all non-legitimate use of surnames sound like that to me–if it’s not your family’s name I don’t think you should use it. But that’s just me.
October 24th, 2006 at 2:14 pm
I like Sutton Pierce alot more. (I wonder why everyone thought that was his real name?) Jayden is such an overused name right now. I don’t like the double J’s either.
October 24th, 2006 at 2:14 pm
I have a stupid question, are we sure it’s really a copy of Britney’s new baby’s birth certificate? Because I remember TMZ posting “copies” of Suri Cruise’s and Grier Henchy’s birth certificates and they turned out to be false… Just saying.
Other than that, I’m not too fond of the name Jayden James. But at least it’s better than Sutton.
October 24th, 2006 at 2:22 pm
OK, sorry for the second post, but I just read TMZ’s article and it says the certificate was filed TODAY. Somehow I don’t believe Britney and her husband would have waited a month before filing – isn’t there a time limit anyway?
Anyway, sounds fishy to me how TMZ can whip out all those celebrity babies’ birth certificates right when it’s convenient.
October 24th, 2006 at 2:34 pm
I really enjoy this site and you guys do a great job. But I’m a little unclear as to why you won’t post or link to photos of celebs obviously protecting their childrens’ privacy by covering their faces, etc., but you post birth certificates? That seems like much more private information than a public photo.
October 24th, 2006 at 2:35 pm
OMG K-Feds middle name is EARL???
How fitting!
October 24th, 2006 at 3:04 pm
The whole Jayden, Jaden, Jaedyn, etc name has been so overdone lately. However I think it is a lot better than Sutton Pierce.
October 24th, 2006 at 3:44 pm
I like Sutton Pierce so much better than Jayden, which sounds like a girl’s name. I’ve never heard it as a boy’s name. I really like the way Sutton Pierce Federline sounded, and I liked how both sons had the same initials. bad choice britney!
October 24th, 2006 at 3:45 pm
I love the name Jayden James. It is very cute.
October 24th, 2006 at 3:46 pm
I like it, not mad on Jayden (would’ve been better without the y), but James is my absolute favourite boy name, and it’s cute that he has a ‘J’ middle name like Britney does. Plus it’s a lot less hick then Sean Preston or Sutton Pierce!
October 24th, 2006 at 3:46 pm
if its really Jayden, great! I like it much better than Sutton.
October 24th, 2006 at 3:51 pm
I thought spelling it Jayden was the girl way and Jaden was the boy way
October 24th, 2006 at 3:57 pm
LOL @ preesi, I was thinking the same thing.
I never liked Sutton but I loved loved Pierce. I always thought Preston and Pierce sounded so cute. I used to have Jaden as a name for my boy but found to hear alot of girl’s named it. Now I scratched it from my list 100%.
For those choosing Sutton for your upcoming sons, don’t think that you still won’t get the, “didn’t britney name her son that?” bc even if the truth is revealed the first name will always be remembered lol.
I too wonder if this is a valid birth certificate.
October 24th, 2006 at 3:58 pm
I love the name. Even though I am 17 I still think of it as a name I really like. Very cute.
October 24th, 2006 at 4:08 pm
hun? is this a real birth certificate? Because, I’m confused… What’s next? Britney didn’t have any baby?
October 24th, 2006 at 4:10 pm
Yeah, I agree with others, Jayden is boring now as so many kids are named that. Also, too many different spellings of the name make it confusing. While Sutton Pierce is not my taste (although it does sound like a brand of wine like someone mentioned!) at least it is interesting and not common yet not too weird.
Being picky but why did Kevin print his name on the birth certificate when it clearly says ‘Signature’? Is this for real?
October 24th, 2006 at 4:33 pm
Is every celebrity naming their son Jayden/Jaden? This name us cute, but its just too popular for my taste!
October 24th, 2006 at 4:43 pm
I know this isn’t about the name, but I just had to say something. Is it just me, or is Kevin Federline’s signature a little…non-existent? Just a very “unique” way to present his signature. BTW, my co-worker’s 7 month old is named Jayden (boy).
October 24th, 2006 at 4:45 pm
It’s alright, not my favorite name but it’s better than Sutton Pierce. Sutton is ok and Pierce is nice, but together they sound like such an uppety snobby name. I like Jaden Pierce better than Jayden James..she should have chosen that.
October 24th, 2006 at 5:27 pm
I’m glad the name isn’t Sutton. It’s funny how the same name can conjure up totally different images. Someone mentioned that Sutton and Sean sound like hick names. That isn’t even on my radar for those names. Sutton seems a bit uppity to me, while Sean is classic. My daughter had a little boy named Jaden in her class, and I think it is a very cute name, though I would never use it. My daughter is Jade, though, so go figure.
October 24th, 2006 at 5:58 pm
Waaaaaaay too over-used….I would think as a celebrity, you’d want a name that stands out a bit from the ordinary. I think she could have come up with something a bit more original!
October 24th, 2006 at 6:04 pm
Surely someone’s birth certificate is a private document.Whether real or not it should not have been posted.
October 24th, 2006 at 6:05 pm
Birth and death certificates, as well as marriage licenses, are all public record.
October 24th, 2006 at 6:06 pm
This sucks. I gave birth in April and named my son Jaidan Thomas. Now everyone will associate that name with Britney *sigh*
October 24th, 2006 at 6:12 pm
Birth and death certificates, as well as marriage licenses, are all public record.
Iam in Australia and our privacy laws are much tougher than America’s.
October 24th, 2006 at 7:49 pm
It’s a shame that people can’t even name their babies these days without all of these inflammatory remarks. Whatever Britney named her new baby, she chose a name that she liked and one that was good for her. All of the “I don’t like it or I think it’s a girl’s name or it’s way too over used or it’s not a classy name and blah blah blah is just silly. Lighten up folks. The name Jaden or Jayden is no more over used than the names Sarah and Michael for example which are considered more fitting and traditonal by some. (Given all of the Sarah’s in my class growing up we had to call af them by their names plus lats intial like Sarah P. or Sarah S.) Some have often expressed concern about how much kids may tease other kids over their names, however, based on the remarks here it seems as if these kids learn their teasing straight from their parents.
October 24th, 2006 at 9:43 pm
Umm I thought he was born at or slightly after 2am? On the birth certificate it says 0111. Kinda strange.
October 24th, 2006 at 11:03 pm
Am I the only one that noticed that britneys birth state is listed wrong?
October 24th, 2006 at 11:45 pm
Britney was born in Lousiana, not Mississippi, I do believe..
October 24th, 2006 at 11:56 pm
She was born in Mississippi. She went to a private high school there as well. Kentwood, Louisiana is right on the border.
As far as the birth, I don’t know much about how long it takes to do c-sections, but it sounds like maybe she had the baby at 1:11 am but didn’t come out of the operating room around 2 am after they had closed her up, and that’s when the media lurking at the hospital knew she had had the baby? Who knows.
October 25th, 2006 at 1:37 am
I don’t get why so many people are saying it’s overused. The only other Jayden I’ve heard of is Will Smith’s son. Jayden James is a regular average name just like Sean Preston. And yeah how come TMZ got the birth certificate the same day it was filed? That’s really odd.
October 25th, 2006 at 3:33 am
@ Sarah: I know birth and death certificates and marriage licenses are public record in the US, but I just find it odd that TMZ whips those celebrity babies’ birth certificates out just when it seems convenient…. and oddily enough, they’re all filed the day TMZ finds them, which is usually months after the babies were born. Like I said, they produced “copies” of Suri Cruise’s and Grier Henchy’s birth certificates, but those turned out to be fake. So why would this one be real?
October 25th, 2006 at 7:02 am
Well I do think that Jayden has been a bit overused. But I think that Jayden James and especially J.J. is cute.
Cali is fast about birth certificates…I’ve had to wait until my kiddos were around 12 weeks old to get theirs.
October 25th, 2006 at 7:47 am
For those of you wondering about the date at the bottom of the birth certificate, October 24, 2006 (visit TMZ for the full image). Some readers above are interpreting this as the date the certificate was filed and think it’s strange that TMZ got it “conveniently” just as it was filed. However, if you read the text at the bottom it says “This is to certifiy that this document is a true copy of the official record filed with the Registrar/Recorder Clerk.” This means that this document is just a copy and that it was obtained on October 24, which is the date that it was posted on TMZ. There’s nothing fishy about that. The date the birth certificate was filed was September 15.
Besides, if TMZ was faking this, why would they mess up the date the birth certificate was filed?
October 25th, 2006 at 7:50 am
preesi – I was thinking the same thing. Earl!!! That is hilarous! Don’t really care what Britney named the baby, but I think it is fine.
October 25th, 2006 at 8:00 am
Jayden James–I’m not into the same sound at the beginning of the names. It reminds me of a woman I know who named her children Jackson and Jake. It’s like “Whatever floats your boat, but of the universe of names, could you not think of 2 that were slightly more dissimilar?”
I think Andre Agassi/Steffi Graf have a child named Jaden.
Jaden is definitely all over the place, though ever since Will Smith/Jada Pinkett used it (and it made sense for them–not just picked out of a hat–Jada=Jayden). I just guess I never got the whole emulating a celebrity with your child’s name trend–if I heard any celebrity use a name I was considering, it’d be off my list, unless it was a totally classic name. A name wouldn’t be on my list to start with unless it was a family name, though, so I guess it wouldn’t matter so much to me if a celebrity used it!
For the person who said they thought Preston, Sutton, Pierce are “hick” names–maybe this is because of the trend of people to use those names who have connection to them as family names. That is a bad idea IMO. It ruins them for people who do have them in their family.
As for Sean being a “hick” name–only when you start tampering with the spelling.
October 25th, 2006 at 9:49 am
I love the name Jaydan. It’s my cousin’s name. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it’s REALLY popular. My cousin will probably be in a class with two or three other Jaydan’s when he goes to school.
When I was in grade 6 I was in a class with 5 other Crystals. That is why I don’t like popular names.
October 25th, 2006 at 9:52 am
David Boreanaz (Angel) also has a son named Jaden, Jaden Rayne to be specific
To me, it doesnt seem overly used, i dont think i know a child named Jaden in person, but that may just be because im a Brit, and the name seems very “American”, but i do like it. Not sure of the y, Jaden is a better spelling.
October 25th, 2006 at 10:56 am
There are a couple of other celebrity babies out there named Jaden/Jaiden…Will Smith/Jada Smith and Andre Agassi. I am sure they didn’t get this much criticism when they named their sons this. I bet even some of you even said how cute.
I like the name even the middle name that Britney has chosen. I wish the family lots of luck.
October 25th, 2006 at 11:15 am
Before I knew that Britney Spears was pregnant…I choose Jayden Allen for my baby’s name. And that is very odd that she chose Jayden, too.
October 25th, 2006 at 11:40 am
I happen to like the name much better than Sutton Pierce. And I dont see anything wrong with having the two names sound the same or have the same letters. My son is named Jacob James after his great grandfather and noone ever makes a comment to me about his names. And as far as the popularity of it I dont see it as being all that popular not like when all the celebrities were naming their newborn daughters Lola.
October 25th, 2006 at 11:50 am
About the birth certificate. Tabliods have people that wait at the court house and they also they pay employees that work there to notify them AS SOON as a new document comes in. That is why they get the divorce papers right when they are turned in.
October 25th, 2006 at 12:35 pm
How sad is it that they have to issue the birth certificate to get people to believe that Jayden is a boy!?
October 25th, 2006 at 2:49 pm
I saw this name about 10 years ago on a talkshow. The man was very attractive, but he was a self proclaimed devil worshipper. Despite the association with the name, I vowed I would name my son Jayden…if I ever were to be blessed with another child. After seven years of trying, and almost giving up…we were given the most precious gift. Our son Jayden. Since this time I have seen several celebrities name their children this. I prefer the Jayden spelling the best. I do not feel this sounds like a girl’s name. We tend to call him Jay more than Jayden. I do think britney made a great name choice. Congratulations to her and her family and the best of luck to them all.
October 25th, 2006 at 7:38 pm
My 3 1/2 year old son’s name is Jayden. I do not remember it being trendy or popular when he was born, as a matter of fact I still have to spell and re-pronounce the name for most people. We tried for a very long time to get pregnant and at Christmas Mass that year I prayed long and hard for a child. We found out we were pregnant on New Year’s Day. Jaden is a males name of Greek origin which means God has heard. You can understand why we chose it(tweaked the spelling a bit). So, to all the people who say this name has no class or meaning, please re-think your statements. People choose names for many different reasons. Please be kind.
October 25th, 2006 at 8:47 pm
Thanks for giving us the meaning of Jaden. I was wondering about it. And “God has heard” fits perfectly for Britney and her family. It was reported that she chose Preston because of it means “dweller at the house of God”. I like it. And the James is supposedly for her dad, Jaime Spears.
On another note, I must say how unkind it is that so many people are “upset” and “horrified” that their kids may have shared or will now share the same name as Britney’s son. I get that SHE may not be your cup of tea, but really! Comments like that are simply awful!
October 25th, 2006 at 11:45 pm
When I was 14 or so, I swore I’d name my future son Jaden.
Now, 10 years later, the name sounds AWFUL to me. It sounds really juvinile. I’ve got no problem with Britney naming her son that… it’s her son, not any of ours. I just can’t believe I used to LOVE the name. Now I’m all about classic “strong male” type names. Our son is named Everett Charles… “Rhett” for short!
October 26th, 2006 at 1:14 am
Atleast the baby is not named after a piece of fruit !!!
October 26th, 2006 at 10:01 pm
This story hasn’t ran on any of my favorite gossip shows yet, normally they are only 2 or 3 days behind CBB. So in conclusion, I’m thinkin this is booboo!
In a personally note: Please people for the love of all things good (and the love of your unborn children) please give the Aiden, Kaden, Haydin, Jaedan name game a rest alredy…if I run across another one of this poor children again, I may feel the need to report the parent(s) to CPS!

When Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith named their children, each name had special meaning: Jaden (containing the “Ja” in “Jada”) and Willow (containing the “Will” in “Will”) and I thought it was a lovely way to honor the parents. But, there have been SO many children (celebrity and not) named Jaden, Jayden, Jaeden, Jaydyn, etc. that I’m a bit overwhelmed by the name. This trend may vary depending on what part of the country you live in. It was like when I was in school and there was a Jennifer A., a Jennifer S., a Jennifer H. and so many other Jennifers that they usually adopted nicknames or HAD to attach a last name initial simply to be identified at school. It was the same with Jason and Michael: there were so many boys named those names they HAD to resort to the first initial of the last name just so the teachers and students didn’t go crazy trying to identify the kids. It doesn’t make the names less attractive, and each person picks out a name that suits their tastes, traditions, etc., but some names do get old fast when so many people are naming their children those names. Out of all the names (and combinations) I’ve heard that Britney has supposedly named her child, I like Jaden Pierce the best (and don’t even mind “JP” – I like it far better than “JJ”, which has been overdone in my area to the nth degree.) But, it’s her child and she can name him whatever she wants. And, I’ve certainly heard names that are much worse and some that are positively cringe-inducing, but these don’t fit into that category. Names go in cycles, anyway, just like fashions and other trends. So, they go from cutesy, to traditional, to classic, to earthy/natural, and the cycle goes on. When I named my children, I didn’t know at the time their names would end up so popular and I was a bit disappointed that their names were a bit overused. But, the names suit them and didn’t embarrass them, which I think is important.
October 28th, 2006 at 4:12 pm
Britney is born in Lousiana, not in Mississippi !!!
November 1st, 2006 at 3:51 pm
I think both names are fine, although Sutton seemed more unique. I think all the comments about Jayden being “overused” are kind of funny. If she had named him Michael or John or William, would people say it was overused? Maybe it’s just because Jayden is still considered trendy, whereas those other names are pretty timeless. Maybe the same will hold true for some of today’s “hot” names!
January 3rd, 2008 at 2:05 am
UM……Good Grief Charlie Brown.. UHHHH what planet are ya’ll from??? Is everyone “EVIL” or what?
The meaning of the name, “Jayden” means, “God has head”. What is the big deal does anyone tell YOU what they think about YOUR kids name or YOURSELVES names? Why is everyone crying about the name Its a great name for a boy!!! My son is 3 & thats his name he was born months after Britneys son & now its a big deal?? WHY BE SO HATEFUL GET OVER IT!~!!
January 3rd, 2008 at 11:50 am
Love that name! I can’t help but laugh at the immature negative comments made about an innocent boys name. Who really cares, why be so obsessive about Britney & her son for?
