Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs loves being a young dad

PdiddySean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs, 37, who is expecting twin daughters next month with girlfriend Kim Porter, told People magazine he loves being a young dad. "I can relate so well to my kids. I mean, we like the same sneakers and listen to the same music and go to the same movies, so there’s not that generation gap. So it’s like being a parent, but also being a friend." Combs has son Justin, 12, with ex-wife Misa Hylton-Brim and son Christian, 9, with Kim Porter.

  1. Jess Says:

I personally wouldn’t consider him a “young” parent age wise, but if he feels that physically or mentally then good for him. I’m happy that he feels he can relate to his boys. I am also excited for the arrival of his twin girls.

  2. Lana Says:

I had no idea that he was ever married. It’s great that he feels so close to his children- many men, even under 40 as Diddy is, feel like “the old man” to their children. Let’s just hope the twin girls don’t have the “matching” names (like Sierra and Sienna or Jenny and Jamie)!

  3. Nisha Says:

I agree that I would not consider him a young parent. (maybe with his first son) I am, however, happy for the parents to be. Babies are blessings!

  4. Alicia Says:

I was thinking the same thing. He really is not that young compared to some other hollywood fathers.

  5. ang Says:

at 37, he hardly counts as a young dad..

  6. thegabster Says:

I wouldn’t consider him a young father either, although if he feels that way good for him. I can’t wait to hear about the twins and wish him and Kim nothing but the best.

Is it just me or doesn’t he also have an infant/toddler with another woman? I believe in Texas?

  7. Lauren Says:

I think what Diddy means is that since he was relatively young when Justin was born (25), he feels like he has grown with his children and is better able to understand their points of view. I would love to have at least one if not two children in my mid to late twenties so that I am old enough to be mature about parenthood and young enough to relate to my children on their level. I still remember what it felt like to be a pouting three-year-old; hopefully I will still have these memories ten years from now so that I can try to understand why my son or daughter is frusterted instead of disregarding their feelings. Diddy may not be a young dad now, but he still is in the sense that I suspect he means.

  8. oldermom Says:

I was 35 and 39 1/2 when my children were born yet I have such a vivid memory of my own happy childhood that I have no trouble whatsoever relating to what they are going through. My son (17 in March) and my daughter, 12, know that I am older but I keep up with their music, fashion, etc. because I love pop culture. Why do you think I visit the babyblog so often?
