Just seven weeks after giving birth to son Jayden James, Britney Spears has filed for divorce from husband Kevin Federline. The couple also share son Sean Preston, 13 months. The shocking announcement appeared first on TMZ.com, where they obtained Britney’s divorce petition, filed today, which cites "irreconcilable differences" and lists the separation date as Monday.

Everyone knew they’d get divorced eventually. I thought it would be after two babies, but only if she had a boy and a girl. I’m surprised she didn’t stick around long enough to get a daughter, so all her children would be from the same father. Now she’ll have to find another husband so she can have a daughter.

So much for this site not posting about splits. Why do you feel it’s ok to post about some and not others? Regardless of who the parents are, if as a site you make a decision to keep info on splits off your site, you should keep them off the site. CBB is no better than any other tabloid. Wow! I must say it seems sudden. Despite the fact we all have probably thought it was just a matter of time, she was at his concert the other night and usually before something like this you don’t see any of those type of gestures.
I really, really hope that Britney is well and that her focus is on her very young boys. Perhaps she is turning over a new leaf and I wish her all the best.
7 weeks post partum is a heavy time to file divorce papers. She seems to have family around her a lot so that will help.

Hmm this is so sad… Having a new baby can be stressful but its also such a wonderful time… Its sad that this is happening during such a special time.
I know that we all saw this coming… Even I thought this would happen sooner or later but to be honest I have to admit I feel bad for her. I can’t imagine having the whole world watching and waiting for your marriage to fail..

I NEVER say anything like this because I so rarely believe what I’m about to say, but that little girl seems to need just a good strong mature man to help her grow up and [inner feminist cringing] take care of her.
I think she’s capable of a lot, but her growth is stunted. Being on her own with two kids may help her a lot with that. Good for her.

I know alot of Britney fans (myself included) will be ovjeroyed to hear this news, but I have to say I was still shocked when I saw the headline about fifteen minutes ago!
I do feel for Britney (and Kevin too) because any break up is sad esp with children involved but it’s even sadder because all the stick Britney will get because everyone is surely thinking “I never thought they’d work, and now I’m right”
I just hope the world’s media will let them have some privacy at this time, I doubt it as it’s Britney Spears…wishful thinking huh
p.s this may also explain the vaugness on Britney talking about baby Jayden since his birth and the release of photos, if things havent been right in Camp Federline/Spears Britney was probably stalling to see what happend because I’m sure she wouldnt want to realase photos and an interview saying how happy thier family is to divorce Kevin a few weeks later…

I can’t say that I’m shocked; especially after the impromptu Letterman visit, I knew something was up. I’m sorry for the little boys, but Kevin hasn’t exactly been a positive role model for them (or his other two children), so to stay married for the sake of “the children” is not doing them any favors. I’ve never liked Kevin after seeing videos of him acting like a fool, pictures of him out in Vegas with other women (sans Britney) and the fact that he left a woman pregnant and married someone else (yes, I know Britney’s behavior was just as bad in that incident.) I hope she will be a good mother and positive influence on her sons and turn this decision into something positive for their lives.

She made it seem like they were so happy? So what really happened. Did he do exactly what most of us thought and used her to get his career going and then started his crap to the point that she finally realized what an ass he’s probably being – or did she want to be married with children and finally got what she wanted? I feel that it would be so difficult to live your life under a microscope. Both Britney and K-fed could read almost daily that she was a bad mother and that he was a lugnut. I don’t know either one of them but divorce is very difficult especially with 2 little ones. I do think that K-fed being the ripe old age of 28 and having 4 children age 4 and under should really think about reining in the old baby maker or at least cover it up. Let’s hope they can make something work at least for the kid’s sake.

Those poor kids, all kids should have a father, and even Shar admits that Kevin is a good dad, so let’s not go saying they are better off without him. That is pretty rude. Maybe she finally got proof that he cheated on her in Vegas or something. Or realized how much he was ruining her. Or she just got what she wanted- kids by the same father. I heard that is why Denise Richards also had her girls so close in age, to have kids by the same father and then boogie. A good marriage is always ideal against divorce, but it is so much easier said than done, especially by those who have never been married and think it would be so easy. Don’t judge, no one gets married thinking they will end up in a divorce, yet 60% do!

All I could say when I read this was – yay!
I do feel badly for her two young boys, and I hope they don’t end up in the midst of a nasty custody fight (I’ve read that the whole driving with Sean on her lap thing could SERIOUSLY hurt Brit’s chances of getting custody).
I hope that Britney and SP and JJ will have nothing but the best. And as far as K-Fed.. for all I care, he can go die under a rock :X Brit can do a lot better, and she will!!

I’ll just be blunt and say I’m not surprised in the least. I was wondering what made her want to be with him, let alone marry him. Then she ends up having not one but two children with him. I wanted to know what was going through her head when she met him. I guess she just wanted to be that young mom with babies. She has that now, just not a good man to back her up. Honestly, I didn’t, and still don’t think, K-Fed is a good man. Yeah, I’m going at face value, judging a book by its cover, but most men at least show a glimmer of something that’d deem them worthy of keeping around. He showed me none, and that stigma of him leaving a pregnant Shar and their young daughter didn’t do him any favors either. I guess with Britney he at least stuck around for the birth of this baby.
Still, this is probably the best thing. I just hope all’s well for the boys. They’re the only ones I honestly care about in this whole thing. I just hope Brit and K-Fed don’t do a dramatic He Said/She Said drama thing with this.

LOL Amy! I was thinking the same thing b/c my son prefered one over the other too. I think one of her straps fell off her shoulder b/c that side of the dress doesn’t seem pulled up like the other side but they do look like nursing boobs. Good for her if she is b/c I don’t think she nursed SP this long. Anyway, I think it’s sad no matter who gets divorced if there are kids involved. Yes most people think Kevin’s a big loser but none of you know him personally. He could be a great dad just him and Britney couldn’t get over there marital problems. I think it’s sad. I don’t particularly care for Kevin, but I don’t share the joy that others have expressed. I would imagine that Britney is in a lot of emotional pain right now, she just gave birth, and her hormones are probably still all over the place. This is great news. I am so happy that Britney is finally divorcing Kevin. We all know that he has used her to get fame and money. They married far too quickly, after just 5 months. It was never going to last. I kinda feel sorry for Britney though coz she is only 24 yet she has 2 failed marriages behind her. Fame and money change people. Famous people don’t seem to take marriage seriously, they just jump into it.

Its sad to see anyones marriage fail. I just hope that they did everything they could to make it work, but I wish her the best and hope she has alot of supportavie ppl around her during this tough time. Judging by the People Magazine photo she seems to be in good spirits.

I think everyone knew that this was going to happen. I just didn’t think that it would happen so soon after she had baby #2.
I hope that Kori, Kaleb, Sean, and Jayden will still be able to see each other.

I’m not a Britney fan but I think she is a lot better off, I totally don’t think anyone should ever stay together for the kids, in my mind (although having never dealt with this personally I guess I shouldn’t say for sure) if the parents don’t get along that can’t be good for the kids. Or if the father is a bum, I think they are better off without him. Its about time!!!

It was so obvious that this union would fail right from the start. He used her to get fame and money, and she married him so she could have babies and be the young mother she always wanted to be. It is still sad though. It is ALWAYS the kids that suffer the most!

It was funny on the View today Rosie acted like she was about to announce something about the elections by saying Ladies and gentlemen it’s over…can you believe it….then asked Elizabeth and Joy what they thought and Joy and then looked at the camera and screamed….BRITNEY HAS LEFT KEVIN….QUE CONFETTI!!! omg it was hysterical!! I’m like damn I don’t think anyone liked her with him and couldn’t wait for this day to happen!

Kevin obviously is the same guy she met and married a few years ago. Britney has probably done some serious growing up in the past few years (as most people do when they have kids). I’m guessing that she was holding out hope that he could become more of the type of parent and husband that she wants. But how long does one wait? This must be very hard on both of them.

If she is nursing, and I doubt it since she has been going out of town without the baby, it shows that nursing can mess up the look of implants a lot. Make just being too thin messes them up because she has no fat to make the round blob sticking out on her chest on one side look more natural. She’ll get them fixed soon.

I’m with those who aren’t surprised…and 100% with the person who mentioned ‘the sperm donor’. It looks to me like she was just in it for the babies. Britney always said she wanted to be a young mom, and now she is. She’s got what she wants and is getting rid of what she doesn’t.

It is definitely real, even though the wedding was 9/18, 10/6 could very well be the formal date. Remember all that stuff that went on about the marriage license and filing it? They waited a few weeks and people kept wondering why.

I’ve always wondered how these celebrity moms who are supposedly breastfeeding, can afford so much time away from their newborns. If I needed to run a quick errand, I had to nurse, run out the door and run back before the baby was hungry again! I realize that pumping can give new moms an occasional break, but everyone knows that if you’re not emptying your breasts consistently every 2 hours, your milk supply will go down. How do they do it??

“Happy” isn’t the word I would use. When a family calls it quits… it is disheartening. Having said that the cynic in me fells that IF Kevin’s attempts to fame would have “took”, I’m not so sure she’d have bailed. However, I do think that had she NOT ALLOWED herself to get pregnant with J.J. she more that likely would have already done this. Still, Britney’s track record shows that she is immature and impulsive concerning some of the most important decisions she will ever make. I sincerely hope that they BOTH do right by these baby boys.

It’s really a shame she rushed into marriage and family. Those two kids probably won’t have much of a relationship with their father, and it’s sad that they’re starting out life from a broken home. But I’m sure their life will be anything but traditional with Brit as a mommy!

Kevin is seeking sole custody?! Dear god, I know whether or not I should be laughing this hard! What a frickin’ bum! Boy’s got some nerve. Hopefully her earlier snafus aren’t held against her. If that’s true it’s so blindingly obvious he’s doing to be hateful. If he had any decency at all he know he couldn’t be a good “full time” father. He’s hardly been home since they were born and Britney has rarely been without them. That’s just the most ridiculous thing that man could kid himself into believing. More than thinking he could be a successful rapper.

Them splitting up by itself probably won’t be that bad for the kids. Unlike Ava and Deacon, who probably heard their parents discuss the whole matter, and who probably discussed it with them, Brit’s kids won’t be aware of any of this. Sean won’t remember anything different, and Jayden isn’t even capable of facial recognition yet. The only thing that may hurt them would be a long drawn-out custody battle and/or the loser totally disappearing from their lives. I would think Kevin would have no chance, but there’s the possibility that the whole driving incident may bite Brit in the ass.

I heard Kevin was seeking sole custody, too. This is by far the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. If I didn’t like him before, I really dislike him now. He was just interviewed on a show saying he hadn’t seen his kids in over a week and loves to party all the time. Every picture I’ve seen of him, he has a cigarette in one hand and a drink in the other- except for the one where he was photographed smoking weed with his friends. This guy is delusional. No judge on the planet would give him sole custody. Even with the whole driving incident, this guy doesn’t stand a chance. Guess he’s very bitter.

Well, I hope the next guy she finds that she loves will be soooo cute and cool-not a total slacker either. Hope she has a daughter eventually that would be cool–at least IF she does it WON’T be with FED-EX!! Hope it will look like her because these Sean looks like K-FED and I bet the other one does as well!
