Mel B. hurt by Eddie Murphy’s paternity claims
Former Spice Girl Mel B., 31, who is five months along with Eddie Murphy’s child, released a statement earlier today in response to Eddie’s insinuation that the baby may not be his. She said, "I am obviously upset and distressed at some of the comments made by Eddie Murphy to the media. I have no idea why anybody would want to conduct themselves in this kind of manner about such a personal matter in such a public way.
My main concern is for the well being of my daughter Phoenix and of course the baby. I was astonished at what Eddie said – there is absolutely no question that Eddie is the father."
Friends say that Mel was unaware that she and Eddie had split – she instead thought they had simply had an argument. She was flying from the UK to Los Angeles when Eddie’s interview aired, and was told of the news when she landed in LA. The same night, Eddie brought new girlfriend Tracey to an event and revealed that they’d already been dating for six weeks.

Jesus, what a pathetic human being this Murphy guy is.

Geesh, carrying a child should be a blessing, not having to worry about what kind of dirty laundry the alleged father is airing out. A simple, I don’t want to talk about my personal life would have been just fine. Hopefully they can maintain at the least a cordial relationship for the sake of all the children involved.

Eddie Murphy already has 7 children, 2 of whom he refuses to have anything to do with. His second and third child were born within months of each other, by two different moms. Why is anyone surprized by his actions now?

Patty are you serious? Ughhh!

I gotta say, I’m not on either camp here. Yes, Eddie has seven kids and he’s not the nicest guy, but at the same time, what was Mel thinking getting pregnant so fast?? they were barely together, it’s not like they were engaged or anything.

This is so sad. I feel sorry for Mel B. She will always be Scary Spice to me! I know she will get through this.
December 7th, 2006 at 4:12 pm
Sounds like she’s better off without him anyway!
December 7th, 2006 at 4:17 pm
Something is odd about this whole story…on both sides!
December 7th, 2006 at 5:12 pm
He is an idiot.. she will be better if is not his child anyway.

Birth control sometimes fails as it seems in this case. I feel for Mel B since no one should be stressed out during their pregnancy. It looks like even if Eddie is the father he won’t have anything to do with the child like the other two he had outside of wedlock.

Becky’s daughter, I agree with you on this one, something went down and apparently we’re not ever going to know but now it’s he said she said bs. Oh well like all Celebrity relationships..nothing last forever. Um can we stop bringing up the fact that he has “2″ other children whom someone “claims” he doesn’t see. We don’t know the situation on that so frankly that should really be dropped, that has nothing to do with this situation. I just wish the best for everyone involved.

Natalie,
It’s not a “claim”. It has been widely reported. Their names are Ashlee and Eddie, Jr, who was born the same year as Bria.

“what was Mel thinking getting pregnant so fast?? they were barely together, it’s not like they were engaged or anything.”
My favorite pregnancies are always the ones in which women get pregnant by themselves.
December 7th, 2006 at 8:32 pm
if any of this is true. I think I’ll no longer be a fan of his.
December 7th, 2006 at 8:37 pm
LMAO Chiara…you said exactly what I was thinking.
She didn’t do it by herself. I think they both should have been more responsible.
December 7th, 2006 at 8:50 pm
who cares how quick she got pregnant shes pregnant and frankly Eddie just need to be smacked for saying something like that..I’m sorry but he does…if he thinks hes not the father then don’t air it out like that..I truely feel for Mel and I wish her all the luck
December 7th, 2006 at 9:59 pm
nothing like some baby daddy/mama drama!
December 7th, 2006 at 11:33 pm
Chiara, LOL! Right on!

No matter what the real story is here, I think Eddie was wrong to say such things publicly. If he doubts he’s the father that’s one thing, but how awful to say such things to the media.
As for how quickly “they” got pregnant, It’s not so unusual. Unplanned pregnancies happen all the time. Tom and Katie hadn’t been together very long when she fell pregnant with Suri. I think it’s irrelevant really.

If he has a problem with having children out of wedlock or whatever, maybe he should wait until he is married before sleeping with someone.
December 8th, 2006 at 11:34 am
Of course he’s the father- he just doesn’t want to pay child support!

This is classic! This happens ALL the time. A guy gets a girl pregnant and everything is fine until he sees a “newer model” and drops the chick who’s carrying his baby like hot fries. Yeah, basically, if he wasn’t seeing Tracey Edmonds, he’d probably definitely still be with Mel. I see it all the time sadly. Something similar happened to be, although he’d never denied our son. My pregnancy was a huge inconvenience to him (what was I thinking anyway? getting pregnant so fast, hmph) so he decided that a new chick would better suit him. Too bad she had him put in jail, ha. Rich people can be scumbags too, and Eddie is on the roster. There’s no excuse for abandoning your children.

Patty ~ it wasn’t a personal attack on you or your comment. I’ve heard the same thing as well in different media outlets. Allow me just to say this, it’s kind of silly for two adults (Eddie and Mel) to conduct themselves like this. They both should be more responsible with their actions. I realize things happen but for some reason with celebrities it’s blown out of porportion. I mean they’re both getting publicity over it, good or bad. I’m not saying it’s right or wrong but their celebrities. Eddie could’ve kept his comments to himself and Mel didn’t have to reply to what was being said. The point is now that we’re all talking about them..

Did you ever notice that this drama never rears its ugly head until somebody is promoting a film or something?
December 8th, 2006 at 1:04 pm
Someone once said this to me: Any ahole can father a child but it takes a real man to be a child’s daddy…
December 8th, 2006 at 4:26 pm
This whole thing disgusts me. I agree that it’s not a good idea to get pregnant in such a short and/or casual relationship, but Eddie needs to realize that every time you have sex there’s a chance she can get pregnant. Planned or not, they both did this and it’s half his responsibility. Think how that child’s going to feel when he reads about this years from now. I was a huge fan of Eddie’s, but he needs to grow up and realize that child now comes first.
December 9th, 2006 at 9:41 pm
We don’t know if birth control was used and failed. Either way, if Eddie was a classy stand-up kinda man he would have told that reporter “no comment”. Shame on him.

i thought in casual relationships one is meant to guard their lives with condoms! HIV AIDS anyone?…they are lucky they only got away with just pregnancy!
