Tennis star Lindsay Davenport expecting first child; to retire
Update: On Saturday, Lindsay announced that this was her last season – she’s hanging up her racket. She said, "I can’t say there’s any sadness yet about missing tennis. My life is with my husband and my future child. I feel like the second part of my life is about to begin, and I feel so lucky that if everything goes well, I’m able to go out like this. The timing couldn’t be better."

Originally posted Wednesday, December 13th: Tennis star and Olympian Lindsay Davenport, 30, announced through her rep today that she’ll be sitting out the 2007 season. Not because of an injury – but because she and her husband Jonathan Leach are awaiting the arrival of their first child! The baby is due to arrive next summer, and it is expected that Lindsay will wait until after the birth to decide if she will be returning to the tennis circuit.
