Courteney Cox and David Arquette on how their daughter helped them develop their new show

I don’t know about you, but we’re really looking forward to Dirt, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette’s, new FX show, debuting  January 2nd, in which Courteney stars in as an editor of a tabloid magazine. The couple talked to Entertainment Weekly about how their daughter, Coco, 2 1/2, played a role in the development of the show and how she could be the next big tap dancer.

David recalls the idea came during Courteney’s pregnancy, when the paparazzi became even more crazed than ever in capturing photos of Courteney with her bump. Courteney would be driving and the photographers would try to corner her, which frustrated her and she would try to outrun them. After a few of these incidents, they came up with the idea to make a show about this crazy life.

The couple also says they used the paparazzi that followed them asresearch opportunities. The Cox-Arquette family was vacationing atDisneyland and they caught a photographer trying to take a picture ofCoco. David admits that he is very protective when his daughter isaround, so he chased the photographer, wanting to throw him out of thetheme park. However, Courteney worked out a compromise: they would givehim one shot of the family and he would come to their office and shareinformation about their world.   

EW asked Courteney and David to address a crazy rumor thathas been floating around about how Coco has her own desk at herparents’ production company, Coquette Productions. Courteney replied,"She has her own office. It is one of the nicest ones. Coco holdscourt… She is going to stay out of the business until she is at least18. Unless this tap-dancing thing works out. [Laughs]"
