Patrick Dempsey and wife Jillian on Life Magazine
Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey is featured on the cover of this week’s Life Magazine, along with the belly of his pregnant wife, Jillian. The pair are expecting twin boys in the next few weeks, and also have daughter Talula Fyfe, 5. Some highlights from the interview:
On life after kids: "Now making money is about providing for my children. And being a father makes you look at yourself. You look at your marriage and go, ‘How do I improve this? How do I keep growing and create a stable environment for my children?’"
On education (Patrick was diagnosed with dsylexia at age 12): [Education] concerns me now with my children. How do I develop them and their learning styles? Reading to my daughter has been therapeutic. I’ve gone back and started to learn to read on a very basic level. I’m reading Dr. Seuss, and I’m healing that part of myself, as well as developing my daughter.

On Patrick as a father: He’s very hands-on. He’s the first to admit he prefers the more interactive stage of children versus newborns. The newborn phase is difficult for fathers—they don’t feel the connection because babies are all about breast-feeding.
On what Patrick is like with Talula: He’s the doting daddy. As a family, we just love to talk to one another. And with little people, you never know what’s going to come out of their mouths. Sometimes it’s so creative, we crack up.
Diapers for McDreamy? Of course!
But will he get up during the night with the twins? Get back to me in a few months, and I’ll let you know. He has long, demanding hours, but he’s not the type of person who would leave me stranded.

Oh my god, I love him. He’s not handsome in an extremely obvious way (I still think he’s kinda dorky looking), but he’s so adorable. And the fact that he seems like SUCH a good dad…ugh, he’s nearly irresistable!

Wow! What a tiny belly, expecially for twins! Mine was bigger than that at 40 weeks with a singleton and I only gained 25lbs!

He is so ubiquitously HOT! I’d love to run my hands thru that mane. Mmmm Mmmm! I think it is admirable he is so open about his struggles w/ dyslexia. My son is dyslexic and I hope he comes to the same acceptance one day. Cannot wait to see the twins!

He looks adorable in those shots, and I loved the one they showed of him looking up adoringly at his wife that they showed on E! News yesterday.
He really is quite the McDreamy. I don’t know what I thought when he was younger, but to me, he’s gotten better with age. He’s one of those men who ages like a fine wine, gets better with age.
