David and Victoria Beckham moving with sons to LA

Tags: News

Celebrity parents David and Victoria Beckham are packing up their brood and moving with their three boys to LA. David has signed a deal with the Galaxy soccer team, apparently worth several hundred million dollars over five years.

A family friends tells PEOPLE; "They both love Los Angeles. It will be good for their careers, they adore the lifestyle, the weather and it would be brilliant for their boys." The move will mean a change of school for Brooklyn, 7, and Romeo, 4, who already attend school in Spain. Victoria and David also have son, Cruz, nearly 2.

That’s cool, I could imagine those two and their kids in LA.

I hadn’t thought about he whole change in schools issue yet for their boys, but I suppose that’s true. Based on their ages though, Brooklyn would most likely be about 2nd grade or so (I think he’s turning 8 soon), while Romeo would be maybe Kindergaten at most, although he’s still only 4 so it could be still Preschool. Either way, they’re still young enough to adjust easily, for the most part. (Plus they’ll probably have an edge over the other kids in their future US schools, given that they’ve already attended schools in Spain and/or the UK.)

Still though if the Beckhams move to the US, does that mean no more ‘Beckingham Palace’ in the UK? (Ah I’d imagine they’ll probably still keep their UK house, when they go ‘home’ to visit family.)

  2. Michelle Says:

I can’t help wondering if they’ve considered the boys in the decision about this move. They’ve already moved countries once, it’ll mean a complete change for them. David and Victoria seem like such good parents, but I’m a bit disappointed in them this time.

  3. Lissette Says:

I’ve been a big fan of the Beckhams for a long time so I’m happy to hear this! I hope the family will enjoy L.A.!

  4. Yonni Says:

I like them. Now they will be even more popular. I am sure the kids will adjust fine.

  5. M Says:

I think any “surge” in interest in them will fizzle out as quickly as it comes- this signing is more to do with Victoria and her ego-obsession with her own self-worth- she is a “living legend” in her own mind!- Beckham is not a “top-notch” footballer by any stretch of the imagination- his marketability is solely based on his image and how he controls that image.

I believe that Beckham will be highly disappointed with this decision- the level of “play” here in the States can never match the level of “play” over in Europe, and as for Victoria- she’ll crash & burn eventually- realising a bit too late that she should have been content/satisified with just being Mrs. B and a mum to her boys’- they too are lost to her in her quest for world domination- quite a shame, really- I don’t think that there are many mums out there given the chance to have her vast wealth- would choose to “work” instead of raising/being a full-time- hands-on-mum to their children- Ah, to each their own…

I, for one wish that they weren’t coming here, but alas I am just a working-class citizen, so unfortunately my opinion really doesn’t register on the radar.

As one would guess- I’m not a fan of the fame-obsessed Beckhams’!

  6. Tiffy Says:

Note to self: Move to L.A. for easier stalking of this gorgeous man!!! ;)

  7. michelleanne Says:

We been hearing alot about it here.
it’s a 250.670.ooo million dollars over 5 yrs deal..Be hard to turn down that offer.
Hopefully they will do some good to the team and for themselves.not that they are bad just saying hope this turns out a good move for them.

  8. Jenny Says:

Its a pretty sweet deal, but I cant help but think that Victoria will get ‘caught up’ in the Hollywood scene. Their going to be super famous

  9. Chicki Says:

Michelle you have every right to your opinion, but I don’t understand your disappointment – I don’t think that David is unlike many parents who have to move around for work. Do you share the same feeling of disappointment for the Jolie-Pitt children?? They have an even more nomadic lifestyle than the Beckhams. David’s a professional, and $250M would be a large sum to turn down just so his kids can keep their “playdates” and “schoolmates” in the UK!! They can always visit old friends!!

  10. Michelle Says:

That’s a good point Chicki, but Angelina and Brad (if I’m not mistaken!) are based in one country and just visit others so it’s a bit like holidays. This is an inter-country move for the second time, the culture and people are completely different from the Spanish and English, and while I think it’s good for kids to experience these things, I’m a bit worried that it’ll be unsettling. Although I hear quite alot of people in the US speak Spanish so at least they’ll be able to use that :)
