Imagine that the world economy collasped. Money wasn't worth anything, and Hugh Hefner's empire in a minute is reduced to zero.
How long do you think that the prospective 27 year old mother of his child, and just maybe old enough herself to be his grandaughter, or his great granddaughter would still be hanging on to him????
Or imagine this Hugh Hefner didn't dedicate his life on creating his playboy empire. He became an accountant. Would his bunny 27 year be then interested in an 80 year old most likely retired accountant?
Isn't anything real anymore? I'm glad I'm not a celebrity if this is what it involves. Everybody's fake, and people are after you for your money, especially if you're over 30, and if you're under 30 you'd best have some money set aside for some fake boobs.
Nothing is real.

I guess no one knows that it is the age of the father that is connected with genetic birth defects, cancers, autism, diabetes risk, mental retardation, schizophrenia etc.

Paternal Age Effect and Disorders Known in 1999

Table II. Long-term effects of paternal ageing on offspring from table on page 2373 of Long –term effects of delayed parenthood by J.J. Tarin, J. Brines, and A. Cano

Dominant disorders
Wilms tumour, thanatophoric dysplasia, retinitis pigmentosa, osteogenisis imperfecta type IIA, acrodysostosis, achondroplasia, Apert’s disease, fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva, aniridia, bilateral retinoblastoma, multiple exostoses, Marfan’s, Lesch-Nyan’s, Pfeiffer’s, Wardenburg’s, Treacher-Collins, Soto’s, and Crouzon’s syndromes, basel cell nevus, cleidocranial dysostosis, polyposis coli, oculodentodigital syndrome, Costello syndrome , progeria, Recklinghausen’s neurofibromatosis, tuberous sclerosis and renal polycystic kidney disease.

X-linked recessive diseases
Haemophilia A and Duchenne’s muscular dystrophy

Non-cytogenetic congential defects
Congential cataracts, reduction defects of the upper limb, nasal aplasia, pulmonic and urethtal stenosis, perauricular cyst, cleft palate,1 neural tube defects

Athetoid /dystonic cerebral palsy and congenital hemiplegia

Psychotic disorders

"But the risk of having a child who later develops schizophrenia, Malaspina
notes, is about 1 in 110 when the father is age 40-similar to a 40-year-old
woman's risk of having a child with Down syndrome.

Malaspina says she believes her findings met resistance because of a
reluctance by men to accept that fathering children later in life poses
increased health risks to their children."

I dislike saying this kind of thing about anyone, but frankly I think it's disgusting. Not only in the obvious way, but also in the sense of being an utterly selfish act. If this was any other 80-year-old man, it would be global tabloid news for all the wrong reasons, but because it's Hef, it's somehow acceptable? Not to me. If it were an 80-year-old woman (let alone being scientifically impossible), the woman in question would probably be held up as a pinnacle of idiocy and have her house firebombed by protestors!

I really think it's their choice whether or not to have a baby, and most likely it'd be Holly raising the child for most of it's life.

IMHO I think it's better if Holly had a baby with Hugh rather than some anonymous sperm donor, because at least there's the potential of taking pictures of the baby with his or her daddy at some time in their lives. Even if the child doesn't have a father for as many years as most kids their age, at least they'll know who their father was. (This is the case with Tony Randall's kids as well as Julio Iglesias Sr.'s little ones.)

(Personally though I don't care for Hef's polygomy reputation with his multiple girlfriends, although maybe it is like some of you said, in that Bridgett & Kendra are more his "girlfriends" for the show than anything else?)

Also how many kids does Hef have already? I know he has a son and daughter from his first marriage (or at least a daughter) in their 50s, and two sons from his second marriage who'd now be teenagers at least.* (I wonder if his teen sons like to visit "dear ol' dad" now? I'd imagine so, but not on the 'Girls Next Door' show.)

I wonder if Hef would actually marry for a 3rd time, before he'd actually have a baby with Holly, or just forgo that part because of his age?

(*Once Hef does pass, he'll have one interesting will to contest with, considering his kids, exes, and past history in general.)

I think the other two are just for show too!
He atleast is honest about his lifestyle, unlike, some parents that hide their boozing, infidelity etc!

In response to Christina, women and men have different issues at the same age in regards to pregnancy and birth. If women regenerated eggs, people wouldn't have the same issues. But when you get women in the 40+ range wanting to have children, they are running a health risk for both themselves and the baby. Men aren't doing the same thing when they are at that age.

As for them having a kid together, everyone has their own choices. There are kids born into much worse situations that grow up to be wonderful people.
