Celebrity Baby Blog Redesign
If the CBB still looks wonky, try a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R in Firefox PC or Apple+Shift+R in Firefox Mac) and if that fails, delete your cache (In Firefox Options: "Privacy -> Cache -> Clear Cache Now" (Firefox 1.5 and earlier) or "Advanced -> Network -> Cache -> Clear now" (Firefox 2.0). In Mozilla Suite preferences, under "Advanced -> Cache -> Clear Cache". In Safari, choose Empty Cache from the Safari menu, then click Empty.).
Please email us if you’re still having trouble. Click ‘continue reading’ for updates, including how to use the new layout and changes that will be made to make the site easier to read.
UPDATE 5 (Jan 31, 2 pm EST): Anya has been released from the hospital. Thanks for all your encouraging emails.
We found today that older individual post pages were not able to upload correctly, so everyone is seeing the image at left (click to enlarge). If you’re getting that when you click older posts, don’t worry about it. We’re also trying to get the issues for AOL users cleared up – thanks to everyone that sent screenshots.
For all other updates from the past few days, click Continue Reading below.
Thank you again for your patience and continued readership.
UPDATE 5: (Jan 31, 11 am EST):
We have a fix for most Firefox users – click below and scroll down to Update 1 for it. For AOL users – try clearing your cache. Also, if you have IE or Firefox, separately load the site there, then go back to AOL and try again. Googling ‘Celebrity Baby Blog’ on their AOL browser and clicking the first link, instead of using the favorites list, also worked for some readers.
UPDATE 4 (Jan 30, 10 pm EST):
Anya was admitted for her second night in the hospital due to gastroenteritis-related dehydration, and will hopefully be going home tomorrow.
We realize that many readers are having issues viewing the site correctly, and we thank you for your patience while we get things worked out. Please keep letting us know what you are having trouble with (as detailed as possible), what browser and operating system you are using and include a screenshot if you can.
Please also tell us about anything that you especially like or find useful. Some people have asked us to go back to the old design. Sorry – that’s not going to happen. However, if there are specific things that you liked about the old design, telling us what that was is really helpful to us and will help us decide what changes to make. (Saying "I hate it, I’m never coming back to this site again" isn’t helpful in the least and won’t be taken seriously.)
One issue that we received emails about yesterday has been resolved – posts from the last 5 days are now visible on the main page, just like on the old version of the site.
Things that will probably changed: Color of links – will be changed to blue or black. Color of article titles and bylines will be changed to black. Left sidebar items will be spaced better. The Reviews area will be delineated better (note – the Reviews are not advertisements. We created the Reviews section last October as a service to our readers.) The Featured Post area will not always be visible- just when we have a feature that we feel most readers will not want to miss, such as Britney Spears getting pregnant again (just kidding).
UPDATE 3 (Jan 30, 3:50 pm EST): Anya was admitted to the hospital last night for gastroenteritis-related dehydration. She nursed a few times today and has so far kept it down. She’s hoarse from crying so much, but her spirits are good now. She was playing with us and sleeping a lot. A pediatrician from our practice saw her this morning and said she will probably have to stay another night, but it’s pending the results of some tests they will do this afternoon. Hopefully she won’t throw up anymore and the test results will say her electrolyte levels are ok. There’s not much we can do except wait for whatever it is that ails her to run its course. Now that Josh is here (only one parent can spend the night and I had a BIG cup of coffee and some breakfast, I feel better. Thank you so much for all of your kind and encouraging emails and comments. It really helps. Another thing that helps me feel better is that in the scheme of things, she’s one of the healthiest kids in this hospital. There are many children here who are far more ill and we feel so fortunate that she is only as sick as she is. -Danielle
UPDATE 2 (Jan 29):
Anya has been admitted to the hospital overnight because she threw up, even after being put on rehydration therapy. This means that Danielle is not able to start working on correcting the bugs. We realize that many readers are having issues viewing the site and past posts correctly, and we thank you for your patience while we get things worked out over the next few days.
UPDATE 1:
Many of you (specifically those who are using Firefox) are not seeing the new design properly. When you visit the redesigned site, you may be seeing a mixture of some of the elements of the new design mixed with the old design that is cached. The way to fix this issue is to clear out their cache completely and then re-open your site in a new browser window and refresh. Once you do this, you’ll see the new design with no problems. (In Firefox Options: "Privacy -> Cache -> Clear Cache Now" (Firefox 1.5 and earlier) or "Advanced -> Network -> Cache -> Clear now" (Firefox 2.0). In Mozilla Suite preferences, under "Advanced -> Cache -> Clear Cache". In Safari, choose Empty Cache from the Safari menu, then click Empty.)
This is what the site should look like. If it doesn’t, then you will need to clear your cache to see the new design. (Click the image to open it up full-size.)
You may have noticed our new site design. While not vastly different from our last look, it adds some functionality we think you’ll really like. We’ve given a lot of thought to this design and hope it enhances your experience.
The top navigation bar moves frequently used items out of the left side column but still makes them handy.
- "Home" or clicking the logo will always take you to the home page.
- Contact lets you email us tips.
- Newsletter takes you to our Weekly Newsletter Signup page.
- Reviews takes you to our Reviews page.
- Shops takes you to our Celebrity Baby Blog Shops, where you can find gift ideas, exclusive promotions, and discounts from some great companies.
- The drop-down menus for Weekly Archives and Category Archives lets you catch up with this past posts easily.
- The search box helps you find articles on any subject on the site.
The Featured Post area highlights the news that we think you’ll want to know about now. Underneath you’ll find Hot Posts and Past Features which highlight articles we think you’ll want to read. The rest of the articles are listed underneath in descending order (latest first).
The far right column, Reviews, is dedicated to snippets of product reviews featured on our Reviews page. Please note that these are independent, un-biased reviews. They are not ads. If you want to read the rest of the review, click on the title or to see all reviews, click the pink Reviews logo.
If you look to the left side column or scroll to the very bottom of the page, you’ll be able to read archived posts by day, week, month or category.
Other changes include an enhanced footer below each post. You can see the exact day and time the story was posted, along with the category, permanent link, comments, email this post link, and links to digg, del.icio.us and reddit.
At the bottom of every page, you will find a list of the most recent articles posted in the News category.
Unfortunately, the launch of our new design coincided with Anya getting a stomach virus so I have been occupied with that and probably will be for the next few days. After throwing up at least 12 times on Saturday night, she has only thrown up twice on Sunday. She refuses to drink the Pedialyte the doctor advised we give her, but she has nursed a few times. I know her spirits are better because after I sang "Old MacDonald" (her favorite song), she said, "E-I-E-I."
If you see something that doesn’t work, we would appreciate it if you could post a comment here or drop us a line and let us know what appears to be broken, along with your operating system (Windows 2000, Mac 10.4, etc.) and what browser and version you are using. It would be extra helpful if you can take and send us a screenshot.
Thank you for your readership and patience.

over half of the width of the screen is taken up by advertisements and the like?
January 28th, 2007 at 6:16 pm
The new site looks great. Sorry about Anya – does she like popsicles? Pedialyte makes popsicles that are made of the same stuff as their drinks. They usually come unfrozen in those plastic sleeves, but don’t take too long to freeze. Plus, the coldness is soothing to the throat if it’s irritated from spending the night getting sick.
January 28th, 2007 at 6:29 pm
Sorry but do not like the new version of the site at all – like the easier version
January 28th, 2007 at 6:30 pm
Hi – I relize it’s a new change, and change takes time to get used to – my biggest complaint is that there are not enough articles on the main page – unfortunately I can’t always read daily and having to search for the past day or two…well, I much preferred having the past 2 or 3 days all in one spot.
I know it’s a minor complaint, but you asked for suggestions
best wishes, and I hope Anya feels better soon!
EJ
Note from Danielle: You can click the Weekly Archives dropdown on the top menu bar and select the current week to see up to 7 days on one page.
January 28th, 2007 at 7:20 pm
Dear CBB,
I am sorry to say that l HATE the new site. I loved to check your site daily and scroll through but l find the new site to boring and tedious.
January 28th, 2007 at 7:23 pm
Sorry about Anya, I hope she gets better soon.
I really like the new design, it looks more organized and stylish than before. Great job on the new features too.
January 28th, 2007 at 8:04 pm
When I click onto the site, the layout is way out of whack, and I don’t think it’s because of the new layout. Do you know what’s going on?
January 28th, 2007 at 8:04 pm
I’m not a big fan of this new layout. I know it’s supposed to make it more organized, but the white background just makes the columns look too cluttered in my opinion.
January 28th, 2007 at 8:55 pm
I have faithfully visited this website at least a couple of times a day for the last year and a half and I do not like this new design for the site. I find it diffcult navigate, difficult to view the headlines and just very confusing. The difficulty I had reading this doesn’t make me want to come back and read.
January 28th, 2007 at 8:59 pm
I’m not a big fan of the new layout. It’s very cluttered. I tend to be a less-is-more kind of girl and this just looks very busy and confusing.
January 28th, 2007 at 9:01 pm
The new site looks beautiful! I am however viewing it on my G5 iMac in a Firefox browser. Firefox is not my normal browser, Safari is. The sight doesn’t look so good on Safari and isn’t user friendly. I have the latest version of Mac OS. Just wanted to let you know!
January 28th, 2007 at 9:17 pm
Well in Internet Explorer the page looks good but in Firefox it’s wrecked. All pink background and pretty unreadable.
January 28th, 2007 at 10:06 pm
site looks great!!!! Love the new design!
As for your sweet girl, I hope she feels better soon. Try the pedialyte freezies, my son hated the drink but would take the freezies no problem. If that doesn’t work, then regular freezies will work wonders too for dehydration, but they have more sugar.
January 28th, 2007 at 10:13 pm
The new site looks horrendous. I cant see anything, Everything is overlapping and it looks like an angelfire site or something. I loved the old blog but I cant read ANYTHING with the new format (it looks more like a botched attempt at a website though)
January 28th, 2007 at 10:22 pm
I really like this new and improved layout!!! You guys do an amazing job on this site!!!
January 28th, 2007 at 10:29 pm
The new design looks great in Internet Explorer, but is nearly impossible to navigate in Mozilla Firefox — no columns, strange formatting, and articles don’t start until about halfway down the (very long) page. I hope this is a minor bug! Thanks.
January 28th, 2007 at 10:38 pm
This new design is hardly user friendly and is confusing. There are readers who just want to read the celebrity baby news, instead of searching allover the ‘home page’ to find it. I’ve been on this new layout page 5 minutes already and can’t even find where to read the recent news!
January 28th, 2007 at 10:39 pm
Hate the new website design–not user-friendly at all.
January 28th, 2007 at 10:40 pm
Just as a note – The new CBB layout does not show up in Mozilla browsers on Windows XP computers. I felt you should know.
January 28th, 2007 at 10:44 pm
Sorry, Baby Blog…
I really don’t find the new format user friendly at all!
I am someone who likes to pop by very regularly, give it a quick glance and check out the pics/articles that interest me. This format is a LOT more work.
January 28th, 2007 at 10:46 pm
What did you do to your web page?? I hate it!!
January 28th, 2007 at 10:53 pm
I do not like the change at all! Its hard to distinguish each post and it looks unorgainized. Change it back!
and yes I do have Mozilla
January 28th, 2007 at 11:00 pm
I’m running Firefox on XP and it’s working fine. It looked a little wacky this morning, but I refreshed a few times & restarted Firefox and it looks great now.
redesign looks great! Hope Anya feels better soon.
January 28th, 2007 at 11:17 pm
Forgot to wish Anya well in my first post. My daughter just got over being sick too. A note on Pedialyte, it tastes awful, you should try it and see. I don’t blame her for not wanting to drink it. And the popsicles tase that yucky too, just frozen. You should try SmartWater. there are electrolytes in that also, but it tastes just like plain old water. Hope she gets better soon!
January 28th, 2007 at 11:18 pm
I also have Firefox and it looks very messed up. I much prefer the other layout over this one. Hopefully you guys can get it to work with Firefox better. I read this blog everyday several times a day, but now that its like this I doubt I will because its too complicated to get around.
Hope Anya gets well soon!!!
January 28th, 2007 at 11:20 pm
I like the new site design and the color differences, it seems more organized and easier to work.
P.S. I hope Anya gets better soon.
January 28th, 2007 at 11:52 pm
I am using Firefox and have had zero problems so far. AWESOME new design by the way – totally love it! =)
January 29th, 2007 at 9:12 am
Also, in Firefox, you can right click on the page and select “view page in IE tab” and this will open an IE tab within Firefox. Just note that any new tabs that you open from the IE tab will all be in IE. It’s quicker than clearing your cache.
January 29th, 2007 at 11:26 am
I’m sorry to say that I am not a fan of the re-design. I’m sure a lot of work went into it, but 3 columns of ads is overkill and makes the UI too busy and the articles seem more buried. I used to check this daily since I could quickly read articles and view photos, but I’m not sure I will continue to do so. Good luck to you, though.
January 29th, 2007 at 1:06 pm
Aww, poor baby Anya! I hope she feels better soon!
I like the new design. It’s going to take a little getitng used to, but it’s nice.
The only problem I have is that when I’m looking at a single post, the text doesn’t start until nearly the end of the page; it’s just a big column of ads. I am running Firefox on Windows XP.
January 29th, 2007 at 2:31 pm
OMG im sorry about anya…i hope she gets better sooon
January 29th, 2007 at 2:32 pm
Hey I like the new design! I also hope Anya gets better soon! My prayers are with you!
January 29th, 2007 at 2:37 pm
About 50% of the time my daughter gets the stomach bug, she ends up in the ER for IV fluids. I’m so sorry…I’m sure she’ll be up and at ‘em really soon. Just take care!
Love the new site!
January 29th, 2007 at 3:08 pm
My thoughts are with Anya and Danielle!! Poor sweet baby. My own little ones are sick this week too.
I am a diehard Firefox user and I haven’t had any problems with the new layout. It looks great!
Take your time gals, you do a wonderful job. Just get that little lady better!
January 29th, 2007 at 3:13 pm
On behalf of all the CBB readeres GET WELL SOON ANYA!!!
January 29th, 2007 at 3:40 pm
Aww, I hope Anya is okay. I love the new layout.
Jess
January 29th, 2007 at 3:44 pm
My girls have had a viral infection twice in two months…it causes vomiting and diarreah, I was in the ER twice in one week and they were great to my kids…I hope Anya feels better soon….they take special care of the kids in the ER….all will work out. Danielle is smart to get her over there ASAP for treatment.
Your new design is great!
January 29th, 2007 at 3:57 pm
Site looks very bright and refreshing. I do agree with a previous poster about liking to see posts from the last couple of days on the home page.
Hope your girl feels better soon. From what I have read you are still nursing her
Nurse her as much as you can and she wants even if she throws it breastmilk is absorbed quickly.
January 29th, 2007 at 4:10 pm
Get well soon Anya and the new layout looks wonderful.
January 29th, 2007 at 4:27 pm
Poor baby (and mom, too)! I’ve had that bug TWICE in the past month, and it’s not fun as an adult, so I can only imagine how scary it is for a baby.
Get well soon, Anya!
Danielle, don’t worry about the bugs, we all understand-take care!!
January 29th, 2007 at 4:42 pm
I hope Anya recovers quickly – poor thing
January 29th, 2007 at 8:13 pm
The new look is quite stylish, but I prefer the other way.
January 29th, 2007 at 9:42 pm
Mac/Safari user reporting here…looks great. Really professional looking, looks much more like a website than a blog now. My ONLY complaint about CBB — both pre- and post-update — is that links don’t open in separate windows. This site is very slow to load and if I click on a link it always takes forever to go back and find my place on CBB. Often, in fact, I give up. To open separate windows is just a little different HTML and I would think is actually even better for your site in terms of readership (in case anyone gets distracted by a new page, s/he can just close the window and be reminded of CBB). I would be so grateful if you could incorporate this change.
Get better, Anya! I HATE seeing babies sick, worst thing in the world.
January 29th, 2007 at 10:08 pm
I appreciate your hard work– I just really do not like the new lay out–there is just too much going on–any chance that you will change it back?
January 29th, 2007 at 11:31 pm
I remember CBB announced once they were going to have the articles open in new windows – and they did for a while..and then that just stopped. A pity, it was far better when they opened in new windows.
Note from Sarah: There was a code we could use, but you have to input it individually with each post, and it was a time drain. Unfortunately opening pages in new windows isn’t something Typepad, our host, has a feature for. If you hold your pinky down on the shift key before you press a link, it opens in a new window – that’s how I read the site when I’m editing, anyhow!
January 29th, 2007 at 11:37 pm
Aside from some little “things” I dropped in an e-mail to the CBB editors, this new design is looking great! Change can be difficult, but I do think that, with time, most will find this new layout a lot easier in helping to get around the site!
(Oops! Just noticed something…you might want to find a way to distinguish the separate posts in the Recent Posts list on the left. Right now, all the text runs together, and it is difficult to read. Making it a bulleted list should help, and this is something your designer should be able to do rather easily.
Also, site actually looks good with Firefox 2 on my machine, but I did notice that previewing comments is difficult. The white content area does not show up, so it is the text against the pink/blue background…hard to read!)
Hope Anya feels better soon! Stomach bugs, (and the hospital), are no fun at ANY age!
January 30th, 2007 at 12:41 am
Hey! Do not worry about he site. We will all be here in the end! Take care of baby Anya, she comes first! The kinks will work themselves out! I hope Anya feels better soon!!!! I will be thinking of both of you!
January 30th, 2007 at 1:00 am
great layout! I def. think its more organized and so much easier to get around!
Sorry about Anya, I hope the little tyke gets well soon!
January 30th, 2007 at 1:23 am
The new look is great. Sorry to hear about Anya, hope she feels better soon. Danielle, don’t worry we’ll be here when you come back, just take care of Anya and yourself. Take care.
Gina
January 30th, 2007 at 4:26 am
I find the new site layout visually jarring. It’s hard for me to read the text in pink. I liked the old layout better.
January 30th, 2007 at 10:01 am
I love your site, have been a visitor for more than a year now. Keep up the great work. I am sorry about your little one, I hope she feels better soon.
I do understand how you feel as a mother of a now 5 year old little girl. It’s now easy but all will be well again soon.
January 30th, 2007 at 10:17 am
Danielle,
My thoughts are with you and Josh at this time and I hope by the time you read this she is already home and well!
It is never fun when your child is sick especially when they are so young and you have to guess at times what’s going on…and even less so when they are in hospital.(and I’ve had to take my son twice to ER in his 7 years, so I know a bit the anxiety one feels as a mother)
I wish her a speedy recovery and you some rest which I know is easier said then done:-)
January 30th, 2007 at 10:24 am
Poor Anya! I hope she recovers quickly!
January 30th, 2007 at 10:37 am
Hi Danielle,
Just wanted to say I am sending Anya my love and prayers, and hope she makes a quick recovery. My friend’s little girl, Sam, had rotovirus when she was about Anya’s age, and although it’s obviously terrifying to watch a child go through any kind of illness that warrants a hospital trip, I wanted to let you know that Sam bounced back as her usual self in no time.
Little hugs for little Anya!
Love Ally. xx.
January 30th, 2007 at 11:02 am
The Stomach flu is definitly makingit’s way around the Bay. My daughter just had it last week. She was projectile vomiting for like 12 hours.
But she got over it. I think the yogurt and a powdered culture (jophilus sp?) worked that I had got at whole foods.
January 30th, 2007 at 11:03 am
Awww…. I hope Anya feels better soon. *sending Anya cyber hugs*
P.S-Love the new layout.
January 30th, 2007 at 11:41 am
hI DANIELLE i am thankful that we are able to get updates on Anya!…since she is eatin that is def a good sign. i hope she gets better soon and you and josh hang in there!
January 30th, 2007 at 11:46 am
the new layout is really not user friendly. I used to check it out daily, but I really have to say this is a step in the wrong direction. Very unappealing.
January 30th, 2007 at 1:32 pm
I hope Anya feels well soon. My nephews were really sick last year and were both admitted several times through the winter with viruses and hooked up to IV’s…I think sometimes that’s just as hard for the parents as it is for the child. I am sure she’ll be back to herself in a few days. Get well soon Anya!
January 30th, 2007 at 1:35 pm
D-
I’m so happy to hear that your precious noodle is getting back to herself.
It’s really great that you are able to see how fortunate parents of healthy children are after a visit to a hospital where there are kids who may never be totally healthy.
I am always amazed at the love and strength of parents that I see in hospitals.
January 30th, 2007 at 1:59 pm
Awwww, sorry about Anya. My son was sick not that long ago. We spent A LOT of in the ER, so I understand. Take care of your baby AND you.
*sends hugs*
January 30th, 2007 at 2:08 pm
The new layout is fab. Sorry to hear about Anya, hope she gets better soon.
January 30th, 2007 at 2:25 pm
Best wishes to Anya for a speedy recovery and good nights rest to you and your husband!
January 30th, 2007 at 2:40 pm
Just had to send you and Anya lots of love and best wishes for a speedy recovery. She sounds like she is in very good hands. I hope she will be home with you both very soon.
January 30th, 2007 at 4:15 pm
Best wishes that your little girl feels better quickly!
January 30th, 2007 at 4:40 pm
SO glad to hear anya is doing better – I was worried about her and thinking of you all as I went to bed last night! Thanks for the update, and please keep us posted as she recuperates.
BTW, don’t worry about us readers right now. Just get some rest and take care of your precious peanut – we can live with a few glitches for a little while!
January 30th, 2007 at 6:59 pm
Don’t you worry about us right now! We will always come back. We love your site, but we also know how much more important it is for you to concentrate on Anya right now. Get well soon, Anya!!
January 30th, 2007 at 7:40 pm
Glad to hear Anya is on the mend!
No bugs on my end – even right after you launched the redesign. I have Firefox 1.5.0.9, running on XP.
January 30th, 2007 at 8:32 pm
Glad to hear little Anya is doing better! =) Hopefully she’ll be back to normal very soon and can leave the hospital. ♥
January 30th, 2007 at 10:54 pm
Anya will be fine and back to her normal self in no time. It’s always so traumatic to go through these things, but it will be fine! Thanks for keeping us updated!
Big hugs to Anya!
January 30th, 2007 at 11:50 pm
All the best for your baby. What a terrible thing to go through. We just got over this ourselves and it’s the pits. The best is that moment when they start running and playing like nothing ever happened. If I threw up for 12 hours straight, I’d be kvetching about it for days on the phone. Anyways, like someone else said, forget about the readers and take care of yourself! The website looks great.
January 31st, 2007 at 12:14 am
Poor Anya! That’s a nasty, nasty tummy bug if it’s the same one I had in December. I hadn’t been that ill (like that for years). She’s in the best place, but she’ll bounce back soon and quickly. Give her hugs from the blog world.
January 31st, 2007 at 3:46 am
I hope little Anya gets well very soon!
January 31st, 2007 at 8:50 am
Aww Anya, hope you feel better! Please give me a big hug for her. It really isn’t fun getting gastroenteritis. We had an outbreak of that in our university last year.
The new website looks awesome. Nicely done!
January 31st, 2007 at 9:04 am
Danielle,
I hope Anya is getting better! Don’t worry about the site, your babies health is way more important. I think everyone agrees and is more concerned with her health. Take care!!
January 31st, 2007 at 4:41 pm
Hi Danielle,
I am praying for you, Josh, and Anya.
It must be very stressful for you, as it is
your child’s first illness. It sounds like
she is in great hands.
January 31st, 2007 at 10:14 pm
While I’m very sorry about Anya, how is this relevant to celebrity babies? There’s always stuff about your child here, but isn’t this the Celebrity Baby Blog?
February 1st, 2007 at 12:02 pm
I’m so glad that Anya is okay and out of hospital.
