"I just LOVE him and love the fact that he has turned into such a wonderful actor, partner and father. Good for him. The pic with the two of them together just melts my heart. My hubby looks at me like that still and I treasure it because some women wish they could find a good man who will still look at them the same way they did years before."

"If you ask Violet what I do, she'll say she remembers me bowing on stage when I did a show in New York, and so she'll say, 'My mom sometimes will bow on stage and sometimes she gets her hair and makeup done.' It's a great job!"

The Dempsey twin boys are here!

Tags: Births, Multiples

Update 10:45 pm: Darby Galen and Sullivan Patrick were born in Los Angeles this afternoon. The boys’ middle names are after dad – Patrick Galen Dempsey.

Update: A CBB reader who’s apparently in the know says the hospital trip Patrick’s racing team referred to last weekend was, in fact, false labor. Jillian is now apparently on bed rest and ‘playing the waiting game’ – the reader thinks they may arrive this weekend.

Originally posted January 26th: Dr. McDreamy is about to become a father for the second time, if he hasn’t already. According to Backstretch Motorsports, the team Patrick Dempsey races with, Jillian was in labor earlier today and they were "expecting the boys within the next 18-24 hours." We hear they may be naming one of their sons Sullivan.

The twins will join big sister Talula Fyfe, 4 1/2.

This is so awesome! How exciting for them! I’m excited myself, lol. I can’t wait to hear an update! Think Patrick is as good in the delivery room as he is on Grey’s?

  2. Heather Says:

Can’t wait for the boys to come. Don’t like the name Sullivan. But I am hoping they give them cute Irish names.

  3. ang Says:

It’s always weird hearing about what’s going on in the world, as it happens, like right this minute. As I sit here in Sydney, Australia on a quiet, windy saturday afternoon, all over the world there r probably ppl giving birth(like jillian), dying, being robbed, shot at, winning lotto, getting married, etc. Having all these life-altering experiences and what am I doing? nothing much LMAO.

Can’t wait to hear how it all goes, thanks CBB and Backstretch!

  4. Candice Says:

Oooh! Yay! I can’t wait to hear more news about this!

  5. Jen Says:

I hope everything goes well for them! Twin boys are very, very cool.

  6. Carol S Says:

Of course they would chose this weekend to come…he was supposed to race in Daytona this weekend. LOL! Best wishes to the family.

  7. Meg Says:

Best wishes to Patrick, Jillian, and Tallulah. I can’t wait to hear the names of the boys!

  8. Evan Says:

I just saw him on the pre-show for the SAG Awards but couldn’t hear what he was saying. Would he go to an Awards show the day after his wife gives birth to twins?

  9. stacy Says:

Yeah!! Finally, we have been hearing about these babies for a while now! Can’t wait to hear the names they chose- I just hope they aren’t too “out there”!

  10. emma Says:

Have the boys been born yet??

  11. Mechele Says:

I cannot find any info on these new babies anywhere. Have they been born? Was it false labor? Does anyone know?

  12. Winnie Says:

The latest I heard about the twins was yesterday – she has been ordered to bed by the doctors; it was false labor pains. They are just playing the waiting game. I bet they are here by the weekend.

  13. Natasha Says:

Awww bummer my dog’s name is Darby…now I’ll never like it on a baby! lol, and I don’t really like Sullivan either. Oh well, Galen’s cute

  14. Megan Says:

oh YAY I’ve been waiting since the first mention of this! So happy to see that those McDreamies are finally here…and adorable names–Sullivan and Darby–very robust names…I love it! And can you imagine how gorgeous those boys will be…Patrick seems like an amazing father! Congrats to he and Jill!

  15. Heavenly_hibiscus Says:

oooh, congrats to them. How exciting!!!
I can’t say I’m very fond of the names.

  16. Winnie Says:

Not really in the know, I just know people who know the Dempsey’s and they told me all this. I have never met Patrick nor Jillian but I heard last year they wanted to name one boy Sullivan. After that, they became very secretive about everything and wouldn’t tell me much. However, I spoke with someone yesterday who told me it was the waiting game. The wait is no more!

  17. Grace Says:

Congratulations to their family! Those will be two cute little boys! Love the names, but personally I would be a little skeptical about saddling my kid with ‘Darby Dempsey’!

  18. elaine Says:

    Sullivan?

What do you think of that name?

  19. fynn Says:

oh no. Darby Dempsy is just nooooot good. poor boy. Sullivan is okisch- but I’m sorry lovely Patrick you just don’t seem to have a sense for the ring of a good name. I bet they’re darlings though and congratulations!

  20. tink1217 Says:

    CONGRATS!!!!

  21. Winnie Says:

I had heard thru the grapevine they were planning to name one baby Sullivan…

I guess that grapevine info was correct!

  22. Aleah Says:

    Congratulations!!
Darby is quite unusual, I think, and I don’t mind Sullivan. It’s not a favourite of mine, but it’s a completely normal name, I think.

  23. Janine Says:

aww congrats to them!! I love the names but I’m really stuck on Galen. Its kinda like a ‘OMGLOVE!’ for that name.

  24. popi Says:

    CONGRATS!! He he!
I like the name Sullivan, but I never heard ‘Galen’ before, but it sounds lovely.
    But…I don’t like that much ‘Darby’…

  25. popi Says:

    Ang -> LOL. Well said!

  26. Jen Says:

Oh yay! Twin boys are so cool! =)(I might be biased a bit.) I love the names they picked for the boys esp. Galen.
I hope their family is doing well with the new family members!

  27. Candice Says:

Heee! Yay! The names are not my style, but still. I bet those boys are sooooo cute!

  28. Heather Says:

I hate their first names! Sullivan and Darby Dempsey! Oh well. I’m sure their McDreamy good looks will make up for it when they’re older. Congrats to the family!

  29. Kristina Says:

I wonder if Darby and Sullivan were named for Jane Austen novels? Mr. Darby is from Pride and Prejudice. I think Sullivan was used in one of her novels, just not sure which one or if it was even used. Personally, I love the names, very cute and original.

  30. Allison Says:

Glad the boys are here and well! I like Sullivan, but Darby reminds me of a pet’s name. Maybe it’s b/c my friend had a hamster named Darby. Oh, well, if they are happy with the names, that’s all that matters.

  31. Corinne Says:

Congrats to them! I love the name Tallulah (this sp. only), Darby and Sullivan are not my style but the sibset is cute.

  32. Grace Says:

It’s MR. DARCY in Pride & Prejudice

  33. Megan Says:

Darby and Sullivan are good old Irish names. Sullivan is an Irish last name that’s getting popular as a first name. And Darby, haven’t you ever seen “Darby O’Gill and the Little People”? LOL. Classic. And Sean Connery is in it, very young and hot. Darby is a nickname for Dermot. One of my cousins is Dermot and goes by Darby.

  34. winnie Says:

My source also told me how much the babies weighed.

  35. j&w Says:

Congrats to ‘em, but yeah, truly awful names. I’m from Ireland, and probably know a dozen Dermots to some degree. None of them are called Darby. Darby O’Gill? That’s as awful an Irish stereotype as The Quiet Man :(

  36. Greg Sullivan Says:

Congratulations! I love both names. My ancestor came to this country in the mid 1600’s,he was Darby O’Sullivan. Will Name my first son Darby, not Sullivan…Think that would be redundant….lol! CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN!
