Gwen Stefani on Jimmy Kimmel

Gwen Stefani (in an interesting one-shouldered/sleeved black jumpsuit) appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night. Here are the baby-related highlights. You can also click ‘Continue Reading’ to watch the video of her appearance – it’s a cute interview.

Mini No Doubt: Gwen mentions that she, Tony Kanal, Tom Dumont and Adrian Young will be getting together for lunch this coming week to talk about the next No Doubt record. Jimmy asks if Kingston, 8 months, will be joining the band. Gwen answers,

I don’t know! Well, now we have three. Tom just had a little baby boy (Ace Joseph, 11 months), Adrian has his little boy (Mason James, 5), so now Tony needs to have a girl and then they can have their own band!

Kingston’s mohawk: Jimmy jokes that Gwen has her own family album, "right here in People magazine," and they ooh and ahh over this photo of the family in England last week. On Kingston’s mohawk, Gwen says, "

That’s his little hairdo! It’s getting all long now, it’s starting to flop! So I don’t know what I’m supposed to do with that. I have it in a little ponytail now backstage…well you know, he’s funky!

On how they chose Kingston’s name:

You know, we had that name…when No Doubt went to Jamaica to do the Rock Steady album, I said to Gavin, ‘Wouldn’t that be cool if we named our kid Kingston?’ and he was all, ‘Shh, don’t tell anyone the name! It’s our secret name!’ and we ended up buying this little rasta hat when we were there, like a little baby one, and everytime we would get in a fight the rasta hat would come out, on the bed, like ‘It’s going back to London!’ or something. So for like six years we had this thing.

Then when I got pregnant, we didn’t find out if I was having a boy or a girl – and it ended up being a boy, and we named him Kingston, and he wore the rasta hat home from the hospital!

Kingston on tour: Gwen begins a two month US tour on April 27th. She says,

G: Kingston is going to be on the tour bus. I think basically I’m going to bring my rocking chair and just rock him to sleep and then go rock out. Adrian actually brought his little boy out on tour right after he was born, but it’s different because…it’s not the mom.

J: Adrian probably didn’t breastfeed the kid either!

G: No, but he probably would have. He probably tried to!
