Introducing Dakota Ann Robinson

Former Army supply clerk Jessica Lynch, 23, has been working at a new job this past month – mom. She welcomed daughter Dakota Ann on January 19th, weighing in at 7 lbs, 9 oz, and 19 inches long, and sat down with People last week to introduce her daughter to the world. Some highlights from the interview:

-Unfortunately, Jessica was not awake when her daughter was born. Due to her spinal injuries, an epidural was impossible, and she was put under general anesthesia for her cesarean delivery.

- Jessica on her new role: "I am Prisoner of War Jessica Lynch. I will always be that. But being a mommy will be amazing. I want to see every cry and smile. I want to catch it all."

- Dakota is named for Jessica’s best friend Lori Ann Piestewa, who died in the raid Jessica was involved in. "I think about her every day," says Jessica. "Dakota is a Native American word for friend or ally, and Ann was Lori’s middle name."

- Jessica and her fiance, Wes Robinson, 25, are moving into their home shortly. Dakota’s nursery colors? Camouflage green and bold pink.

-If her daughter wants to be a solider when she gets older, Jessica says, "We’ll tell her the story of her mom first, and then let her decide."

What colors or themes did you have for your children’s nursery – if you did?

  1. Anna Says:

    Beautiful baby.

    But camouflage green? Seriously?

  2. Becky's Daughter Says:

Little Dakota sure is cute, and I was also thinking the same thing about the camouflage nursery theme and outfit. Looks like she’ll be headed for the military whether she hears mom’s war stories or not.

    A cutie-pie nonetheless!

  3. a.j. Says:

    Holy boobs, Batman!

  4. Aura Says:

Cute baby, and I think the nusery colours sound nice – Very bold and different!

  5. Loralee Says:

I always thought I’d have some kind of pink for my little girl even though I’m really not a pink or frilly person by nature. At the end of the pregnancy when I was highly emotional anyway I decided I hated absolutely everything and took it all back to the store. I ended up falling in love with a pale yellow Peter Rabbit theme (not over the top) that was perfect for my now “not pink or frilly” tomboy eight year old daughter. I decided I just didn’t care for pink so my dark haired blue eyed baby looked gorgeous in peach and jewel tones instead.

  6. opspsy Says:

WOW Jessi, your little girl is pretty like her mommy :)

I owe jessi a Haiku. Although I do not post on scott the snake’s site due to his lack of integrity, Jessica knows that starr loves her :)

I am at jessica-lynch.piczo.com, an awesome site that actually serves Jessica’s interest. I will post my haiku for Jessi there. God Bless Jessi, Wes, and Dakota Ann! All of you are GREAT people :)

  7. Ash Says:

I think that color combo sounds great! I bet it looks really nice together.

  8. sarah Says:

I like the camo green and bold pink, I think it looks great together, I always thought it was more for maybe 8 years old not babies, but it works for them and thats great.

For my daughter I started with all the pink too, but ended up buying a blue crib set with the precious moments theme. Its adorable with little hearts and stars and baby dolls, which my tough lil girl loves.

I too am an army vet and would tell my daughter my stories (not as bad as Jessicas) but ultimately let the decision be up to her.

  9. editorjax Says:

The baby is cute, but I think this is a bit much. She certainly isn’t living up to her role-model image, having a child with a man she doesn’t intend to marry at a young age.

  10. opspsy Says:

I think Jessica’s color scheme for the nursery reflects a great level of class. Jessica’s superior integrity, her superior mind and superior attitude always shine through with undying brilliance. Jessica, Wes, and Dakota Ann are all truly GREAT!!! :)

  11. Yonni Says:

What a lovely tribute to her friend. How sweet!

  12. starr Says:

It is truly amazing, the positive and inspirational profound impact that Jessica has had on the world. There are thousands of websites on the internet that are all saying the same thing. Jessica RULES! Period!!
Jessica has demonstrated profoundly superior honor and integrity. Her foundation (the Jessica Lynch Foundation) is a positive step for helping the children of USA military vets. I bet Dakota will take up Mommy’s cause and support mommy AND mommy’s cause! I also bet that once Dakota learns and understands what her mommy went through, she will be mommy’s #1 supporter!! :)

I officially nominate Dakota, Dakota’s mom (Jessica), Jessica’s sister (Brandi) , and Jessi and Brandi’s mom (Dee) as the four prettiest women of 2007!!! Dee, WOW, you must be so proud :)
Dee, Dakota, Brandi and Jessica all are pretty and they all RULE!!! :)
Congradulations to all four for being so cool!!!! :)
