Eva Mendes is a fan of quirky baby names
Ghost Rider star Eva Mendes says she loves co-star Nicolas Cage’s Superman-inspired name for his son Kal-El and plans on giving her own children unusual monikers.
Being unique is the reason I’m in this business. I don’t know if I’m ever going to have a kid, but if I do, I’m definitely going to give him some really cool strange name.

And I’m sure the child will appreciate it growing up. *rolls eyes* As the owner of not one but two ‘unique’ names, I can testify that it made me feel isolated and angry when I was a child and now as a young adult it causes me no end of problems when making phone calls or filling out forms. My mail is always addressed incorrectly, my peers and superiors have trouble remembering my name and I have to spell my full name every single time I make a business call- after 21 years it does begin to chafe.

I kind of agree. I think some of the names nowadays are just CRAZY!!!! I actually met someone who has a daughter named Sonic…yes, SONIC. Why do people pick names like that??? I don’t really get it. Y’all know people are gonna end up calling that girl SONIC The Hedghog or Sonic Boom or something else. I feel bad for some of these kids. I actually have found that my favorite names for babies are more traditional, or even old fashioned names. I have my baby names picked out-hopefully, whoever I have them with agrees!

Why do people pick names like Tyler, Taylor, Christian, Tristain..oh I’m gonna hurl now…some people actually do not like “traditional” names.Of course traditional for me would be Geronimo. And whats the deal with “biblical” names, John, Mary, Issac ..I’d like to meet some one named Deuteronomy or Numbers.

I have to agree a bit with freebird…I cringe a little every time I hear another trendy name. My name isn’t weird I don’t think, but it is a bit uncommon. I have had to correct people and spell my name a lot in my life but it’s better than having to go by my first name plus last initial. I have had like 4 Jennifer’s and 3 Sarah’s in one class before.

I think Sonic is a great name. Now, I’m just gonna be honest are we so prudish that we think a person’s name is what makes them who they are..It is what they do that gives light to their name, I’m sorry I’m a little poetic.By the way my name is shadow.
