"I just LOVE him and love the fact that he has turned into such a wonderful actor, partner and father. Good for him. The pic with the two of them together just melts my heart. My hubby looks at me like that still and I treasure it because some women wish they could find a good man who will still look at them the same way they did years before."

"If you ask Violet what I do, she'll say she remembers me bowing on stage when I did a show in New York, and so she'll say, 'My mom sometimes will bow on stage and sometimes she gets her hair and makeup done.' It's a great job!"

by CBB correspondent Tara:

ABC World News Tonight anchor Bob Woodruff’s children speak out about their father being the victim of a roadside bomb while reporting in Iraq last year.

Woodruff’s daughter Nora, 6 years old, explains how it was seeing her father in the hospital for the first time. She said,

Daddy’s not so handsome anymore. He was lying in bed and he had rocks in his face.

Woodruff credits his four children Mack, Cathryn, Claire and Nora for his recovery. He explains that it was his children who taught him to read and talk again:

I was so excited they taught me new words. They felt like teachers.

In a moment caught on camera for his documentary airing in this week’s show Bob Woodruff: To Iraq and Back, his daughter taught him to say the word belt buckle, after about a dozen tries:

"Belt buckle. Belt buckle. You taught me! Belt buckle. You did it!" Woodruff shouted in triumph.

Woodruff says there is one good thing that came out of his horrific accident:

If there’s anything lucky in this past year, aside from the fact that I have recovered to the extent that I have. I have so much more time to spend with my kids, and that that has been a gift. I look at how I am lucky. I really am in so many ways that everything that has come back.

Woodruff’s kids feel just as fortunate:

We’re really happy to have him back,” said his son Mack, 14. “We love him,” said his daughter Cathryn.

As for going back to work, Woodruff is optimistic but in no rush:

Anchoring was a wonderful job. I held it for a full 27 days, and I think I can probably do it again. It’s not something I necessarily have to do immediately. What I love is being out there where the stories are.

  1. Mary Says:

I watched his Primetime special on tv when it aired. It was a really touching story. Not to mention an amazing one, in the way that he recovered as well as he did. Not only did they show Bob’s story, they featured other wounded soldiers, many who never quite recovered so well. Very sad.
