"I just LOVE him and love the fact that he has turned into such a wonderful actor, partner and father. Good for him. The pic with the two of them together just melts my heart. My hubby looks at me like that still and I treasure it because some women wish they could find a good man who will still look at them the same way they did years before."

Gwen Stefani just wants to “make music and babies”

Tags: News

Gwen Stefani recently opened up during an interview with Britain’s HELLO Magazine about her pregnancy with Kingston Rossdale, 9 months, and the possibility of more babies. Gwen said that she wants to wait until her current tour finishes it’s run and then she wants to start trying for another baby:

I’m going to try and enjoy this year of touring and then hopefully get pregnant again. I’m on repeat. I just want to make music and babies.

Although, pregnancy the first time around wasn’t that enjoyable for the singer:

I was surprised how much I didn’t enjoy pregnancy. Having something growing in your stomach feels so unnatural. Your body’s changing and you can’t control it. You just feel gross.

Part of it was most likely due to the fact that she was on tour when she got pregnant with Kingston and had the endure performing and the hardships of pregnancy. Of that she said:

I was having to get up on stage wearing bathing suits, looking fat. Nobody knew I was pregnant except me. They were constantly having to add extra panels to my costumes! To be honest, I felt pretty bad about myself.

Thank god, someone else didn’t like pregnancy. I felt like a freak because I really hated being pregnant. I totally love my son but hated pregnancy. How refreshing to hear someone else shared this feeling!

  2. Lola Says:

    good for her.

  3. Anne Says:

Gwen & Molly, you’re not alone! I had always heard women say how much they loved being pregnant and how great they felt – I hated it. I threw up five times a day for the first five months, and even after the actual vomiting subsided, the feeling like I had to did not. I had no energy, no “glow”, and I developed PUPPPs at 37 weeks, and my daughter wasn’t born until 42 weeks. I felt fat and uncomfortable the entire time. Don’t get me wrong, I was ecstatic at the idea of a baby…just the process to getting there was not my idea of a good time! I guess its just an instinct we women have, though, because even though it was a pretty yucky nine months, I’d love three or four more kids and wouldn’t hesitate to do it all again.

  4. PSB Says:

Anne I feel for you. I had PUPPS too at 37 weeks and went to 41 weeks (emergency c-section). The discomfort is just something nobody can understand unless they’ve been through it. Most people haven’t even heard of it and many people didn’t believe me!

For whatever reason, some people don’t enjoy being pregnant and are made to feel really bad about it. I loved being pregnant up until the PUPPS, but whether it’s morning sickness, sciatica, overheating, etc- – some people just don’t have it easy and should not feel guilty about just wanting the baby out. It doesn’t mean we don’t love our babies.

  5. Amy Says:

I am kind of offended that she said being pregnant was “unnatural” and made her feel “gross.” I understand that she was probably trying to say that she was uncomfortable, but I guess I wouldn’t choose those words to describe it.

I am one of those people who LOVED being pregnant. There was nothing gross or unnatural about it. I loved feeling another life growing inside of me. Heck, I would get pregnant again just to get that feeling again, but I am not ready for another infant. To each her own, but her remarks came off kind of shallow and prissy (at least to me).

Oh…and if this were a quote from Britney everyone would be all over her for those comments, but because it’s the beloved Gwen who can do no wrong, it is great and everyone cheers for her. *Rolls Eyes*

  6. Lauren Says:

I love that Gwen is so honest about her discomfort being pregnant, especially since it is so obvious that she loves her son more than anything and wants to add to her family. She always keeps it real and doesn’t go on and on about her easy as pie pregnancy, easy as pie drug-free delivery, etc. She rocks-literally.

  7. Anne Says:

PSB, I’m sorry you had to deal with PUPPs too! It’s true, no one can really understand unless they’ve had it. I actually called my doctor two days before my scheduled induction because Erin was so late, and I told them, I’m coming in NOW! The itching was so bad I couldn’t wait any longer, and giving birth is the only cure. I tried to explain it to people, but they were like “Its just itching though…” and its just like, no it isn’t! I would have rather been in horrible pain than have that rash. The day before I decided to tell them to induce me, I literally laid on the floor and cried because it was unbearable. Hopefully it won’t happen again….

  8. Grace Says:

Amy: I’m very happy for you that you had a great pregnancy. However, many people are not so lucky, and I see nothing wrong when them being honest about it. In fact, I think it’s nice to see that a lot of the myths about pregnancy and motherhood being 24/7 bliss are finally be dispelled. IMO, no one should be shamed for not having a wonderful pregnancy experience or for being honest about it. And I’m not sure why her comments are offensive to you, she’s not insulting you or mothers in general.

And as for your comparison to Britney Spears, Gwen saying that she didn’t enjoy pregnancy is hardly the same thing as Britney driving with a child on her lap and the various other things she has done to risk her child’s safety and well-being. It’s a bit like comparing apples to oranges. As for her being “beloved Gwen”: I had never even heard of her until I came to this site and I have no opinion about her as a person one way or the other. Some of us just chose not to judge someone that we know nothing about.

  9. Anne Says:

Amy, I think its great that you loved pregnancy so much, but I don’t think you should be offended by other mothers who didn’t enjoy it quite so much. Some women find it quite uncomfortable, especially those (like me) who dealt with complications such as severe morning sickness, PUPPs, pre-eclampsia, and so on. I had all of those while pregnant with my daughter. For the first five months of my pregnancy, I didn’t go 12 hours without throwing up. I was delighted and thrilled about becoming a mother…pregnancy just didn’t agree with me physically, and I feel absolutely no shame in admitting it was uncomfortable to me. I love my daughter just as much as any woman who had a blast being pregnant. I don’t think Gwen was insulting motherhood or pregnancy, she was simply stating her surprise at how uncomfortable it can really be.

  10. gianna Says:

Grace I agree with your entire post. Some people have great pregancies, others have hard ones, and some just don’t enjoy the whole pregnancy thing. That doesn’t mean you don’t love your children, obviously Gwen seems like she does, and she is even willing to go through it again to have anther baby. She probably just didn’t feel great while pregnant, everyone has different experiences, and at least she is being honest.
