Anya update: 17.5 months
Anya turned 17 months old on March 14th.
Click Continue Reading for the update and photo album.
I just added videos!
I apologize for the delay in an Anya update. I have become so busywith the site that I have little time for non-work related things. After her two day stint in the hospital, I feel like I haven’t been able to catch up with work, let alone taking care of personal errands.
The biggest change since the last update is that Anya is now alittle girl. Walking and running independently has put her world on anew plane. She is everything a typical toddler is described as- busy, curious, busy, chatty, busy, active, and did I mention busy? Thischild has things to do and people to see! And she has so much to say,if only we understood her language.
Her current vocabulary includes mama, dada, papa (for my dad andstepdad), mamamama (for my mother), nana (for Josh’s mom), nahnah(night-night), gee-gee (baby), pee pee, key, hi, bye, noo noo (noodles), memo (Elmo),coog-goog or coco (Cookie Monster). She also knows a ton of animalnoises and even though she knows the words for them, she only wants tosay their sounds. Her love of animals probably explains why Old MacDonald is her favorite song, which she requests by telling us "E-I-E-I." She also does some sign language- she can sign mama, dada, cat, dog, bird, book, and wash hands. She also nods which is so refreshing after so much head shaking. She understands SO MUCH. She follows complicated directions like "go get a book and sit in my lap" and responds to questions like "do you want to see grandma and poppy?"
As you saw in the post about Milkdudz – not your mommaz nursing wear’s Supply & Demand t-shirt set,Anya is still nursing, with no sign of stopping. We have nightweanedher and she is starting to sleep through the night again. You’ll notice that she has her hands in her mouth in many of the photos in the album- she’s teething now and always, actually. She has 12 teeth now but I’m not sure where the new teeth are going to go because I think she only has room for 4 more molars.
Her favorite foods are apples (which she wants to hold), pasta, rice, edamame, beef, Kix, Total 2% yogurt, and Yo! Baby (full fat) yogurt. She’ll pretty much eat anything if she’s in the mood. Some days she’ll eat some green vegetables, and the next day she spits it out like it tastes bad.
Anya’s favorite toys are definitely her babies, three of which have names: Big Baby, Medium Baby, and Little Baby. The rest are all just "Baby," although there is a Cookie Monster and Elmo thrown in for good measure on top of countless stuffed animals. She is a very good mommy to her babies- putting them to bed, waking them up, nursing them, feeding them, taking them for a walk in her doll stroller, and now slinging them in her Karma Baby doll sling (thanks Stacey!).
She’s so much fun and hilarious and a joy.
(I captioned most of the photos with what she’s wearing, in anticipation of questions asking where you can get it for your kids. I also made the camera info available so you can see what kind of camera took each photo- just look under the photo. If you have any questions, please post them in the comments.)

Anya’s first walk down our block- now it’s all she wants to do- she doesn’t want to ride in her stroller anymore except when she’s really pooped.
Anya enjoys yelling at birds.
Anya’s new favorite thing to do is take her baby for a walk in her stroller.
We listen to this Name Your Tune CD at least once a day. It has her name in it, which she loves.
Anya knows how to say her name.
Hide and go squeal!
Anya does the filming.

What are the painting tools that Anya is playing with in the photo dated 1/7/07? They appear to be some sort of paint or marker, with a bulb on one end. I am always looking for interesting things for my daughter to try, and we haven’t seen this particular product yet. Thank you!
Danielle says: They are Alex Finger Crayons. Amazon has them for $5. http://www.amazon.com/Finger-Crayons-Set-of-10/dp/B000099ZD9

Danielle, Anya is beautiful! Love her hair and her expressions, and the picture of her walking away with her big girl coat is just precious!!! Are those raisenets (sp?) that I see her eating, lol. Too cute, her and Isabella sound a lot alike. Isn’t it the best feeling ever to be a mommy? Congrats again on your beautiful baby.

Anya is so adorable! I can’t wait until my little girl is doing all those things! I have to ask, where are her squeaky shoes from?!
March 30th, 2007 at 12:07 pm
Cute pics of Anya, she’s as adorible as ever! In some pics I can tell she’s turning into more “little girl” than just a baby girl anymore. So cute!
Two of the pics in your collection, Danielle, are those old pics of YOU from the mid-late 1970s, when you were Anya’s age? I wondered if they might be, and if so, you and your daughter do look much alike.
Yup!
March 30th, 2007 at 12:08 pm
She is SO ADORABLE!!!! It’s amazing how quickly she’s growing up!
March 30th, 2007 at 12:11 pm

March 30th, 2007 at 12:36 pm
Glad to hear she is still nursing! We have just hit the 18 month nursing milestone and don’t plan on stopping any time soon. I hope this gives other hope that they continue extended nursing without problems!
Anya looks so little for her age but she is a doll!
March 30th, 2007 at 12:51 pm
Anya got so big! nice videos! I can’t believe how much time flies! She’s beautiful.
oh and the activness only get’s worse!! I can’t keep up w/ my two year old niece half of the time. I would love to bottle their energy!
March 30th, 2007 at 12:59 pm
Anya is very cute! And she looks so much like Danielle.
I noticed that Anya is wearing a pale pink/peach handknit sweater in a couple of the pictures – at the aquarium and in an earlier one. Did you make it Danielle? I just made the same sweater for one of my friends who is expecting. It is from the book “Simple Knits for Cherished Babies” by Erika Knight, which is full of great classic-yet-modern baby patterns. I was happy to see that the sweater seemed to fit Anya really well and she looked very cozy in it.

Anya is gorgeous! She’s getting so big. I remember your post on her birth. Wow! I can’t believe she’s 17.5 mo already! Congrats on still nursing. You are an inspiration to a lot of mamas. Glad to hear the nightweaning went well too. I hope we’re still nursing when he’s Anya’s age too.

Wow- she’s gorgeous!! I have a 17 month on cousin Ava- She’s soo cute, just like Anya.
I’m just curious, I haven’t seen any other updates on her (I’m fairly new), and I was wondering how you chose the name Anya? I think it’s beautiful, something I’ve never heard before! =)

March 30th, 2007 at 2:11 pm

Anya is so cutie and adorable ! she is a little angel !
March 30th, 2007 at 4:19 pm
Anya is ao adorable! I always enjoy reading the updates and looking at her pictures. She is growing up so fast! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her squeaky shoes! They are hilarious! I gave my two little cousins some for Christmas last year! They are around Anyas age. They would get so tickled when they would squeak, but I do not think their parents were as thrilled! I am afraid payback is going to be rough!
March 30th, 2007 at 6:41 pm
omg! Precious and beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing, Danielle.
March 30th, 2007 at 8:05 pm
Thanks for the update Danielle. I think Anya is my favorite “celebrity” baby! She’s definately the prettiest and most stylish little girl featured on this website!
March 30th, 2007 at 9:52 pm
Now this is a beautiful baby…look at those cheeks. The videos are adorable.
March 30th, 2007 at 10:19 pm
None of the pics are showing captions regarding anya’s darling outfits (just the camera info)
Can you help with that?
Thanks!
March 30th, 2007 at 10:49 pm
Anya has gotten so big…it doesn’t at all seem like she’s already a year and half old. She’s a precious little girl, Danielle…an absolute doll! The videos are adorable.

There is a hot guy in the hide and go squeal
video.
March 31st, 2007 at 10:25 pm
Where did you get the shirt with the “A” ?
Just too sweet!
April 1st, 2007 at 6:23 am
I, too, was wondering how you chose the name Anya? (which is beautiful, by the way!)
I know Mischa Barton’s younger sister is named Hania… But the only place I’ve ever heard that name spelled that way is on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”. Is that where you took the name?
April 1st, 2007 at 10:42 am
I love your photo montage. What a wonderful baby girl! She looks so cute pushing her Macclaren doll stroller. Anya looks like she also belongs to the Stroller-of-the-Month Club. Dare I ask, how many strollers you own? Hey, it is fun having babies, especially girls, so I say have fun test driving all of the neat products out there.
April 1st, 2007 at 11:15 pm
Aww Anya’s gettin so big and so cute, with all that hair! The vids were cute…and funny lol! She’s around the same age as the kids I watch in the church nursery, so its very funny to see the similarities in their behavior. Thanks for all the Anya updates. I really do enjoy them.
April 3rd, 2007 at 3:44 pm
She sure looks a LOT like you when you were her age expect for her pretty blue eyes.
I hope I will have a gorgeous daughter like her one day!
April 12th, 2007 at 7:01 pm
Danielle! She is just the most adorable little girl! We are expecting a daughter in July and her name will be Anya Catherine, so it was neat for me to see the video of your Anya saying her own name. So sweet!
