CBB Exclusive: Twin girls for Mia Hamm and Nomar Garciaparra
Update March 30th: The girls’ names are Grace Isabella and Ava Caroline.
Update 1:45: People has confirmed the news with Nomar’s rep.
Originally posted at 1:30 pm on March 28th: We hear that soccer star Mia Hamm, 35, and her equally athletic husband, Dodgers’ Nomar Garciaparra, 33, welcomed twin girls this morning. Both girls are healthy, weighing in at more than 5 lbs each, and almost made it to their April due date. No word on names or if they are identical or fraternal.
Nomar had been in Florida when he got the call on Tuesday night that Mia had gone into labor. Thanks to a private jet on standby at the airport, he flew to LA and made it to the hospital in time for the birth of his daughters. Fox Sports now reports that he didn’t make it in time for the births, but was on speakerphone with Mia the whole time.

According to Fox Sports.com (via msn.com), Nomar was in the air when the twins were born. Here is the link to the article:

oh no, such a shame he wasn’t there with Mia and didn’t get to see his daughters enter the world. I’m sure he’s really dissapointed but at least he got there as soon as he could. I’m anxious to hear their names.

oh I’m kinda bummed with the names. They’re both sooo common nowadays. I mean their cute and at least they’re normal names but still, I wonder how many other Ava’s and Grace’s they’ll meet growing up. Plus, try saying Grace Garciaparra 5 times fast, lol.

I’m not too fond of those names either. Grace Garciaparra? Oh well lol.

I think those names are adorable…they are beautiful names…they remind me of old glamorous Hollywood…like the girls will be old souls…I mean honestly, you’re not goin to find much that actually somehow fits with Garciaparra…LMFAO so ya just gotta go with beauty and those names are beautiful =)) Can’t wait to see pictures of those gorgeous girls =)) Welcome to the world Ava and Grace = )

Ava is one of my favorite girl names of all time! I love the names though they are a bit common but still quite cute.

Ava and Grace are cute names – I love them, but they have become quite common in recent times.

Ugh…such common names. Sorry to say this, because they used to be such beautiful names, but they’re BORING now.

I like the names, they match well together and at least there normal cute girls names. Grace is a bit old fashion for me, but I like Ava it reminds me of Ava Gardner who was so beautiful.

I have an Ava… she’s 4 and I picked out her name when it wasn’t even in the top 100 on the Social Security listing. However, I agree with the other comments that it’s a little boring with how common Ava and Grace are nowadays. Can’t anyone open a baby name book and actually look for names? It’s like they are just going by what they are hearing.
Oh well, it’s their kids – guess they can name them what they want.

Congrats to the Hamm-Garciaparra family on the birth of two beautiful little girls, Ava and Grace, which are cute sibling names for twin girls. Now there are three future professional soccer players (hopefully) that I am looking forward to see in the future, Ava, Grace, and Isabel Sawyer, the three month old daughter of Julie Fowdy. Definitely these little ones will keep womens’ soccer in high spirits, and make their soccer moms proud!!

Hear there is a picture in the latest issue of Dodger magazine of Nomar holding the twins. Problem is I haven’t found anyone who has this magazine.

I love the names that Mia and Nomar picked out.I knew that they would pick something cute but not some name that isn’t suitable for a name like a lot of celebrities pick.I think Ava and Grace will fit the girls perfectly!!!!!!!

Thank goodness they’re not named apple or peanut like Gwyneth Paltrow named her daughtetr or Ingo Rademacher from General Hospital named his son. I used to watch Nomar on the Red Sox and wish his family well. At least the kids have normal, cute names – who cares if they’re common!
