"I just LOVE him and love the fact that he has turned into such a wonderful actor, partner and father. Good for him. The pic with the two of them together just melts my heart. My hubby looks at me like that still and I treasure it because some women wish they could find a good man who will still look at them the same way they did years before."

"If you ask Violet what I do, she'll say she remembers me bowing on stage when I did a show in New York, and so she'll say, 'My mom sometimes will bow on stage and sometimes she gets her hair and makeup done.' It's a great job!"

    She looks great!!!

  2. Callen Says:

    beautiful bump!lol.

  3. LaTonya Says:

    She looks really good!

  4. Becky's Daughter Says:

She looks very healthy and ready to pop!

Because of this site, I’ve been educated about how those in her culture view her pregnancy. I want to say “Thank You” to all that chimed in. Ignorance is not always bliss.

  5. fumar Says:

She looks great! Sorry to repeat what everyone else already said. She seems to have retained her figure behind the cute bump.

  6. J.M. Says:

She’s 16…I don’t think it’s hard for many 16 yr. olds to maintain a figure (even when pregnant)! I think she’ll pop out that baby and be back in her old clothes. The younger the body the easier it is to lose.

She actually just had her birthday last month and is 17 now, as the post says.

  7. Lindsey Says:

She looks amazing! I fell in love with her when Whale Rider came out and it’s been great to follow her through such great moments in her life.

  8. Shan Says:

I’ve never thought she was pretty really, she always looked very plain to me, but gosh, she looks lovely!!
Very madonna and child classic beauty!

    Truely a glowing mama!

  9. Lauren Says:

Wow, she’s got quite a (cute) tummy. A girl I knew who was pregnant last year at 16 didn’t seem to gain much weight at all-I’d say 20-25 pounds at most-although she had the baby about two months after I last saw her, so maybe she popped during that time. She’s back to her pre-baby figure now.

  10. Maureen Says:

She actually turned 17 recently. I think she looks beautiful and happy.

  11. Heather Says:

She looks stunning!! Oooh I love pregnancy glow on everyone :)

  12. NausicaaofWind Says:

She looks gorgeous! Pregnancy suits her. Any word on when/if she and her boyfriend are getting married?

  13. Mel Says:

Golly, she looks beautiful. Pregnancy really agrees with her in that picture.

Thank you again to the CBB caretakers for posting the cultural context in the previous Keisha post. I think it made a lot of people (including me) reevaluate our thoughts on the pregnancy in a positive way.

  14. tink1217 Says:

    she does look great!

  15. Katrina Says:

She is beautiful! I’ve never seen her in any movies, but I’m happy for her all the same!

  16. Lola Says:

She’s 17 now. Her birthday is in March and I know teenage pregnancy is controvesial and all but what’s done is done. I’m not going to knock her life because I don’t want anyone knocking mine. I think she’s a fantastic actress, and I wish her all the best!

  17. Debbie Says:

For any women who is working on her career, traveling the world for her career and pregnant with her first baby with a boyfriend (not husband)must be difficult but to be doing all that at the age of 16 must be overwhelming. I wish her all the best in the world with her new family and career but I find it hard to support the actress and the people who are typing in on only comments about her weight loss and how beautiful she looks.

  18. AnnocAndyNZ Says:

She’s lovely, and i can’t wait to “meet” her wee one. I think she seems to be mature beyond her years and she’ll be an awesome mum, and as a Kiwi myself know that she’ll have heaps of support and love and NZ is a great place for her to raise her bubby :o )

Just re some of the above comments though, as a NZer i would just like to clarify – Teen pregnancy in NZ is just like teen pregnancy everywhere – it’s not our “culture” to have babies young, we have a high rate of teen pregnancy and it is as much of a social issue here as it is anywhere in the developed world. Keisha is lucky in that she is a bit of an “exception to the rule” as she will be financially comfortable and will have a huge support network – especially with the close relationship she has with her mother and whanau.

  19. alexasdf Says:

I wish her all the best! Why should I bash her for getting pregnant at 16? She’s of a different culture and is happy to be a mum.

  20. Kat Says:

Aww, she’ll do great. She obviously has a good support network, and it’s not like she’s going to be some cash-strapped welfare mum. Let’s face it – she’s probably done more traveling and “living” at 17 than most of us have at 30, so I doubt she’ll miss out on anything by having a baby now rather than later. She looks so pretty in this photo, too! Her kid is going to be so adorable.

  21. Ginny Says:

I’m surprised about all the reactions before to this. People not having babies until their twenties or thirties is a relatively modern thing. As soon as girls had their first period in much of the world they were considered marriage-able, and then paired with an older man (maybe even 20 to 30 years older) who had made his fortune and could support her. The human body biologically is made for having babies from the ~14 to ~20 age range, which is when girls are most fertile. Do you think girls could get pregnant at that age if they weren’t ready to handle it (physically, I mean)?

I can see why it would be a difficult obstacle to overcome now that you don’t have to have babies so early, and that many teenagers aren’t as mature as they were in the middle ages and such, but it’s not a world ending issue if they’re given support and love.

And I personally don’t think a 16/19 pairing is so odd. They could have potentially gone to school together, and I think choosing “18″ as the adult age and now any relationships with people they could have gone to high school with are illegal is ridiculous. Age differences aren’t that big of a deal, as long as it’s not abusive or manipulative. But that can happen in same-age relationships too.

  22. Ginny Says:

Er, I forgot to add to the last post that I was talking about the general reactions when people first heard the news (I skipped over to that post since it was linked from the main page), not really the reactions here.

  23. Ming Says:

Just a couple of points….Keisha is from NZ, not Australia – two quite separate countries. The NZ Maori are not indigenous to Australia. The NZ age of consent is 16. it is not common or especially acceptable for 16 year olds to have babies in NZ: but as with any low socio-economic group (which unfortunately many Maori are), teen pregnancies happen. Just wanted to clarify that – not everyone in NZ (nor every Maori for that matter) thinks 16 is normal and ok to have a kid.

  24. suma Says:

Hey you guyz I met Keisha last week at a friends house I heard alot of rumors that she was a horrible person but after meeting her I have my own opinion now She is Really Nice Thats her Mum in the photo and that girl standin next to keisha is her cousin haylee. I wish hur all da best

  25. Caroline Says:

She doesn’t look “lovely”; she looks like another pregnant teenager bopping around the mall. Get a clue, people…..

  26. Heather Says:

I think that there is no problem with a sixteen-year-old girl getting pregnant by her husband; something portrayed in the movie “The Nativity Story” is true: it was a shame for any girl to get pregnant out of wedlock, and if she was married or betrothed to anyone other than her husband meant death. I don’t think anyone should use the punishment of death for that type of thing, but it is very sad to me how people can get pregnant out of wedlock with no shame. Are those two really going to get married? That would be great! I hope they can spend their wole life together and have more kids!
