Modern Mom talks to Days of Our Lives’ Alison Sweeney
ModernMom.com spoke to actress Alison Sweeney, 30, who plays Sami on Days of Our Lives and will be hosting the new season of The Biggest Loser, about life with her son Benjamin Edward Sanov, who just turned 2 in February. (The interview was done before his .)
On what Alison, Ben, and her husband David, a highway patrol officer, like to do together: We take family walks with our two dogs. It’s so much fun to walk in the park together. We do a lot of fun stuff – family trips and such – but just playing together in the park as a family is my favorite.
What does Alison consider her greatest achievement?: I would definitely say Ben is my greatest achievement to date. Though I guess I can’t take a lot of credit for him turning out so great. Nature, and my husband, Dave, had a lot to do with it!
What does Alison want to teach Ben?: There are so many things I want to teach Ben as he grows! A really important thing for both my husband and me is that Ben has good manners. I really want him to grow up being a polite and well-mannered child. He isn’t even two yet and Ben already says ‘please’ and ‘thank you’. He’s a very sweet and kind little boy, he laughs all the time, and shares easily. I think that’s so important, so I really want to continue to encourage him in that direction.
Favorite mom and kid products?: The first thing that comes to mind is Diet Coke. Ha! I am totally hooked on it, though I probably shouldn’t admit it. And my Kiehl’s lip balm ($5.50). Especially right now – it’s so dry, and I am constantly re-applying. And as a mom, I would say Crayola’s washable crayons ($3) are just a genius idea! Couldn’t live without them!

The local children’s museum and zoo are our favorite family activities. Memberships to both are very reasonable. The membership is great because if you pay each time you may need to make a day of it to get your money’s worth. With a membership you only stay as long as you want. The Magic Eraser has to be my number one household item. I wish I had it when my now 8 year old artist daughter colored on her bedroom walls!

Alisons character on days is pregnant and I couldn’t help but notice that she is looking fuller in the face and in the chest…I wouldn’t be suprised if this pregnancy was written into the show because she actually is pregnant

I’m sorry Jessica but I believe Ali posted on her official forum that she is in fact NOT pregnant and she had no idea that they were going to make Sami pregnant. So that had nothing to do with why Sami is pregnant.
