Australian TV presenter Kochie to be a grandad

Australian TV presenter for Sunrise, David ‘Kochie’ Koch, is to be a grandfather, after learning his eldest daughter is expecting her first child. Samantha Brown, 27, and husband Toby Brown spoke to New Idea this week about the pregnancy (she is 15 weeks along), how they announced it and what the grandparents (and great-grandparents) are planning to be called. They also posed for some photos.

David is just so excited about the pregnancy.

It’s just fantastic!

Samantha thought she would have trouble conceiving; when she was 19 she lost an ovary after a doctor failed to diagnose a cyst, which had swollen to five and half litres before it was removed.

It was a bit of a scare at the time because they had to check if it was malignant, and they also didn’t know if it had destroyed my other ovary.

However, she fell pregnant easily and announced the news at her mum’s recent 50th  party.

We’re really excited at how easily it all happened. I think Mum and Dad are thrilled they’re going to be young grandparents. And I think he’ll be a very good grandpa.

The couple also express their plans for a large family.

Both Toby and I come from families where we were four children each, and we also want a large family rather than a smaller family. We both want to be young parents and be active with our kids.

This first grandchild, will have four grandparents and seven great-grandparents. So, the real dilemma is in what he or she is going to call them all.

Kochie likes ‘G-Daddy’ after finding it on a internet search.
