Introducing Ariane Wilhelmina Máxima Ines

Update: Baby’s name is Ariane Wilhelmina Máxima Ines. CBB royalty correspondent Char writes, "The selection of names was  Ariane because they liked it, (dad said he wanted to go for ‘the triple ‘a’ factor – Big sisters are Amalia and Alexia), Wilhemina in honor to the late Queen of the Netherlands, Máxima in honor ofPrincess Máxima’s grandmother and herself and Ines like Máxima’ssister."

Princess’ Amalia andAlexiawere surprised as the baby arrived home while they were eatingbreakfast on Wednesday morning. Amalia keeps watching her mother’s bump to make surethey brought home the right baby. while Alexia is just excited the babyishere.

Originally posted April 11th: The third daughter of Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Maxima was introduced to the press this morning. De Telegraaf has a photo of the proud father with the newborn during the presentation, whose name will be announced Friday when the Prince registers the name.

During the press conference, the Prince admitted that the baby already has a name, but he can’t reveal it, and also joked with the journalists about the appearance of the baby: "She has big eyes. Her nose from a genetic point of view comes from the Orange side, the lack thereof," and to the question of how does it feel to be the only man in the house he answered,

It’s a henhouse, where I’ll walk around as a proud rooster.

He answered with conviction as well that he wasn’t expecting a son or a daughter, but a healthy baby. He also revealed that they had a quiet night and that the baby only woke up once. Maxima, who went to bed a couple of hours after the natural delivery, had a quiet night as well according to the doctors.

Congrats to them! I love this family. Amalia and Alexia look a lot a like so I’m sure this little one will look like them too. Can’t wait to here her name.

  2. Lisa Says:

  3. Christine Says:

I also love reading about this family that’s why I emailed in. I always think they give their children lovely names. The baby wil be registered on Friday :) . I love the name Aurelia. It carries on the A-ia tradition

  4. Mac Says:

Wonderful news. The Prince certainly looks happy which is expected of course. Now it’s time to guess what the baby’s name will be.

  5. katie Says:

i hope her name is alicia

  6. KarenC Says:

This is such a pretty family and the kids are
    so cute.

  7. Corinne Says:

What terrific news! They are a gorgeous family, and their new daughter will only add to that! Also, it is wonderful to see a man so thrilled to be the father of daughters!

  8. Lorelai Says:

Her name probably not gonna be Alicia. Willem-Alexander’s grandfather, the late Prince Bernhard, has an illegitimate daughter with that name. He also had an illegitimate daughter called Alexia, which is the unnamed princess’ older sister’s name. But she is said to be named after Willem-Alexander. But I don’t think they’re gonna do it twice.

The name Anastacia has been coming up. But there is already a cousin called Anastacia. Come to think of it, I think Anastacia’s big sister is called Alicia. So I’m thinking no on Alicia. But of course I could be wrong!!

    We’ll see on Friday!

By the way, CBB, I love that you’re covering all the news about this baby and her family! I’m from the Netherlands and the hospital all the princesses were born is next to my house. I was at the hospital the day Amalia, the first daughter and our future queen, was born. It was so much fun with all the reporters there and the Prince waving from a window! As I read this page several times a day I am proud to see my royal family on here! Thank you!

    It’s Ariane!
I’m dutch, living overseas and married to an argentinean so i always love baby-news from my own royals. They had to keep the A going… Her full name is Ariane Wilhelmina Maxima Ines. I think the dutch will like it.

Must be nice being a princess, you get to have lots of pretty given names and you don’t have to bother too much with surnames. Your just Princess Ariane!
My husband thought giving my daughter three names was extravagant but since she was likely to be my only daughter and last (second) child i couldn’t help myself. Willem Alexander and Maxima get to honour all the women in their family by naming their daughters, i think that’s lovely..

  10. Melissa Adrian Says:

Anastasia is more like a third cousin to the new princess. Her grandmother is Princess Margriete, sister of Beatrix. It is not uncommon for the same name to pop up. One of Margriet’s granddaughters is Emma, and Prince Frisco’s eldest daughter is Emma as well, though more commonly called Luana.

And I should point out that it is not a straight A really. Amalia is actually Catharina-Amalia, she is just nicknamed Amalia by her family.
