Keisha Castle-Hughes’ baby shower
Update: We’ve decided to remove the scans as it’s come to our attention that Keisha is angry at the magazine for publishing them, because the source is a friend who sold the photos. We had believed it was something Keisha had arranged with the magazine, but that is not the case – they were taken in a private place where Keisha had a reasonable expectation of privacy, but the friend breached her trust. Therefore, we’ve decided to remove the scans.
New Zealander Keisha Castle-Hughes, 17, who rose to fame at age 13 when she was Oscar-nominated for her role in the film Whale Rider, celebrated her baby shower recently. Keisha and her boyfriend of four years, Bradley Hull, expect their daughter later this month. During her shower, Keisha showed off her belly (and her hibiscus tattoo) as friends guessed how big around she is!

She looks great. Her tummy is kinda small too. Considering how far along she is.

She looks lovely.
I know that a seventeen year old being pregnant seems very off to a lot of people, but I hope people keep an open mind, and remember that other cultures have a different way of looking at things than general Western culture does.

She looks sooo cute! She looks really happy to, she looks like she will be a good Mom.
She does look a big small from most of the angles. Most of the teen pregnancies I have been around, they didn’t get as big.

Could she be any cuter?!?!?! She’s adorable! That’s going to be one seriously lovely baby, for certain!

‘and remember that other cultures have a different way of looking at things than general Western culture does.’
-I live in New Zealand and being pregnant at 16 isn’t exactly acceptable. It’s not like this is a third world country down here! These things happen everywhere. And it’s not necessarily society that has to be accepting of them. I think she is stunning in these photos but I do think she is young.

Callen, these photos were taken a while ago I think because I saw them in a magazine a few weeks ago.
I just wanted to clarify about the ‘culture’ thing. Here where I live, in New Zealand, Keisha’s pregnancy caused a huge stir because of her age. Many people here believe that she is too young to be a mum, and that she is setting a ‘bad example’ to other kids. It is true that Maori women often have babies at a young age, but I don’t think it is a ‘culture’ thing. Teenage pregnancy is just as much of an issue in NZ as it is in other western societies.
That said, she looks great and I wish her the very best for the rest of her pregnancy and the birth. I can’t wait to see her little girl!

I been wondering about her. I wonder if she’ll have a photoshoot when her daughter is born.

She looks beatiful!

I don’t see how it’s “narrow minded” or prudish to think that a 17 year old girl is too young to have a baby; especially when there’s so much anecdotal and statistical evidence that demonstrates the incredibly tough challenges and issues faced by teenage mothers. However what’s done is done. At this stage I just hope she has a healthy baby and a good support system, she will need it.

Age aside, she realyy does look cute and happy. At the end, all that matters is that she is o.k and has a healthy baby.

Oh how I love when people on hear make these lame comments about this girl based on the year she was born! I know of a grown woman 32 who has two boys, married, her husband abused the boys verbally, shoving food down their throat to make them eat dinner faster. She left him, then went back to him and forgave him. I know of many women over 30 who feed their kids mcdonalds almost everyday, give their kids soda, candy their kids are obese and unhealthy, they don’t pay attention to how their kids are doing in school or what they are doing in general…yet for some bizarre reason this girl keeps getting treated like a loser for getting pregnant, staying healthy and deciding to have her baby….(This comment was removed – please do not insult other posters.)

@ Sam, sheesh, relax. There’s no need to insult your fellow posters because some of us aren’t over the moon about a girl of 17 becoming a mother. Good for your that you have no issues with it to each their own, but some of us feel differently.
April 19th, 2007 at 10:35 am
No Sam, YOU are pathetic for being so rude and obnoxious to other people simply because you don’t share their opinions. If you can’t understand why people don’t feel that having children as teenagers is necessarily a good idea, that is your problem, not anyone else’s. I suggest you do some research on the statistics available regarding the children of teen mothers before you dismiss others’ “lame” comments.

All judgement aside, I find it incredible how a “would be” friend betrayed her…How nice… That’s so lame of him/her!
April 19th, 2007 at 12:46 pm
Now I feel sorta bad looking at those pictures if Keisha didn’t want the world to see her. Hmm. I’m sure she’ll be a very protective mother and will keep her baby away from the paparazzi now if there’s any in New Zealand.
April 19th, 2007 at 1:07 pm
Is there somewhere I can find the pictures? I tried searching but came up empty.
Not that we know of. We were the only site that had them.
April 27th, 2007 at 1:13 am
That’s terrible that one of her so-called “friends” would betray her like that and sell pictures of a private gathering to the media… poor Keisha.
But she’s a lovely girl, and I’m sure her baby is going to feel so loved and blessed.

poor keisha, she must choose better her friends
