Goran Visnjic and wife confirm adoption

Tags: Adoption, Births, News

Bucking the international adoption trend, ER actor Goran Visnjic and his wife Ivana have adopted an American baby.  The child, a boy the couple has named Tin Visnjic, was born April 19th at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Tin is pronounced T-ee-n, with a long ‘e,’ and is very popular in Goran’s native Croatia. The baby was named after a famous Croatian poet Tin Ujevic, who’s from the same place as Ivana’s father.

Ivana was at the birth and cut the umbilical cord. Tin weighed 5 lbs, 5 oz.
Goran wasn’t present because they wanted to avoid the publicity.

It is the first child for the couple, who will celebrate their 8-year anniversary next week, on May 8.

  1. Sanja Says:

Congratulations! He’s one of my fave actors.

Not crazy about the name, it’s very popular in Croatia, and you meet Tins (pr. T-ee-n) all the time.

  2. Christina Says:

    Congratulations to them!!

  3. emzi Says:

    Congratulations to them! :)
Goran’s very sexy. How on earth do you pronounce his surname?

  4. Jessica Says:

I am so happy for them!

I love that the baby was born on April 19th…that’s my birthday too!!

But technically, would this be considered international adoption since the baby is American and they are not?

    Just curious.

  5. Sophie Says:

So they paid for the child’s birth mother to give birth there?

  6. Leslie Says:

That’s refreshing to hear about an American adoption! Congrats to them on parenthood :)

  7. Emily Says:

Aw, I had no idea he was planning on adopting. That’s so exciting. I love ER. :)

  8. Alicia Says:

How exciting for them! I love him on ER!!

  9. Gracie Says:

It is my Birthday too. I love them they are so cute!

  10. Ana Says:

His surname is pronouced VISH-nyich, or so I’ve heard. I didn’t know they were planning adoption, but I’m happy to hear that. No it won’t be consider international adoption, because the baby is American and the parents live in America, so it’s all American adoption.
I’d like to see a biological son, the cute would be sooo sooo cute! ahahahah.

Happy for them, I just can’t wait to see a picture of little Tin, maybe, Tiny LOL, well, now he is. I like the name, although I wouldn’t name my kid so (I think…).

  11. Heather Says:

Congrats to them. I think Tin is a very cute name.

  12. Mia Says:

An adopted American child is no more special or different than a child adopted from a foreign country by US citizens or residents. There was no reason to announce that Visnjic and his wife adopted an “American” baby except to manipulate and incite readers who criticize and find fault with others (particularly Jolie-Pitt) who see a child for who she or he is, a child. For their and their child’s sake, I pray the Visnjic’s adopted a Caucasian infant otherwise not only will the baby be forever labeled as their adopted child in every caption, which we all know s/he will be known as, but the Asian, American Indian, Samoan, etc. adopted child of Goran Visnjic.

CBB does not refer to children as adopted except for the initial announcement of the addition to the family.

  13. Colleen Says:

It so rocks that Goran and his wife adopted. I am sure that Tin will make a lovely addition to their family. And you pronounce his last name vis-nee-itch.

  14. Sanja Says:

The baby was named after a famous Croatian poet Tin Ujevic, who’s from the same place as Ivana’s father.

And Ivana was at the birth and cut the umbilical cord. Tin weighed only 2,5kg.
Goran wasn’t present because they wanted to avoid the publicity.

  15. anonymous Says:

I’ve met little Tin, he is gorgous and loved so deeply. Everyone is created for a purpose, and Tin’s story already, and even while in his mother’s womb is so beautiful!
it is a true story of fate and god’s plan.
He is such a blessing to so many people!!
And from my view..(wich is a good one) Tin is one of the luckiest baby boys in the world!

  16. DolphinAdriatic Says:

  18. pickel Says:

The proper way/politically correct to say it would be domestic adoption, not American.

  20. StandJustSo Says:

The article isn’t about what other children he may or may not have, but about he and his wife adopting their son. I think it’s wonderful, and I wish the Visnjic’s every happiness.
