Lleyton and Bec Hewitt’s lives have more meaning after baby
Since having their daughter Mia Rebecca, now 17 months, everything has carried moreweight for double Grand Slam champion Lleyton Hewitt and his wife, Bec,but none more so than seeing ill young children, which reminded them oftheir own little girl. The two recently dropped by Australia’sChildren’s Hospital at Westmead for the Starlight Children’s Foundationand were deeply affected by the visit, Lleyton says.
There was a little girl here today who is only 19 months oldwho’shaving some treatment. Mia is only 17 months old. Yourheart just goes out to that little girl and her parents. I think itdoes mean more now with Mia – it hits home a lot more. [The visits]certainly mean a lot more than just hitting balls over the net.
Whenhe is hitting balls over the net, Lleyton is accompanied by Bec and Miato nearly every tournament in which he competes. Because the travel isdifficult, the couple has decided to hold off on having more kids for thetime being. Also deferred is a return to acting for Bec, who left theAussie soap Home and Away two years ago.
I’m happy traveling and spending time with Lleyton and with Mia.
