What the Duggars are doing will likely be illegal within the next thirty years. And it should be. We live on a finite resource planet, yet think we can reproduce infinitely. Eventually the planet’s resources will run out and people who have more than two children will be looked at as selfish, self serving, pariahs IF they are permitted to do so. Mandatory sterilization after two children may sound extreme now, but it IS the future. Message to the Duggars: STOP!! Please. You send the worst message possible and you only underline your ignorance.

ALL I CANSYA THAT GOD BLESS THE DUGGAR, I HAD MY FIRST CHILD AT THE AGE OF 16,AND BY THE TIME I WAS 28 I WAS DONE I HAD 8 KIDS, 6 GIRLS AND 2 BOYS,AND HAD 2 MISCARRIGES, IF IT WASNT BEUCASE I DEVELOPED CANCER I WOLD HAVE LOVED TO HAVE MORE KIDS.I THINK THAT THE WAYS THE DUGGERS ARE RAISING THEIR CHILDRENS IS GREAT THEY HAVE SO MUCH RESPECT, AND ARE VERY SMART, THE ONLY SHOW THAT I DONT LIKE IS THAT JOE AND KATE PLUS 8, SOME PEOPLE DONT KNOW HOW TO DISIPLINE THEIR KIDS AND I THINK THAT THEY SHOULD NOT, HAVE A SHOW BECUASE THEY ARE NOT DOING ANYONE A FAVOR, THOSE KIDS ARE JUST ANNOYING.ANS THE AOTHER ONE IS THE LADY THAT COULD NOT HAVE KIDS AND HAD A 18 MONTH OLD GIRL AND WHEN AND HAD CUADRUPLETS AND WHEN THEY WERE JUST BABIES WHTN FOR MORE AND HAD ANOTHER 4 AND THE POOR GRANDMOTHER SEEMED LIKE SHE WAS ABOUT TO PASS OUT, I RAISED MY 8 WITH NO ONE HELP, FROM ANYONE AND I HAD 5 IN 4 YEARS, AND THAT IS WHAT I ADIMIRE FORM THE DUGGERS,GOD BLESS THEM ALL AND IF GOD WANTS YOU TO HAVE MORE KIDS THEN GP AHEAD YOU ARE DOING A VERY GOOD JOB. I think it would be great to be part of a big family like that! And someday I hope to have a huge family with many many kids as many as God wants to bless me with! I think God thought they could have that many kids and have enough love for all of them or he wouldnt have given them 17 kids. As one person commented there are many orphans but there are also people who wait years to get the kind of child they want even if there is another one that needs a home. So I dont think it is selfish or irresponsible at all!

Apparently Jim Bob has done quite well without a college education. However, this is simply not the case for everyone, especially these days. It is essential that young people set their aspirations high and be given every opportunity by their parents to be prepared as best as they can for higher education, especially if the boys are taught to eventually be sole providers as in the Duggars family. It’s a way different world today and harder to get by. I don’t know about Arkansas, but in California a high school diploma or GED doesn’t mean much. The fact that the Duggars oldest son managed to finish high school early at 16 and has a GED is really nothing to be proud of It simply means he took the very bare minimum to get out. Sure, he can attend a community college, but the road will be harder as he will be much further behind and will probably struggle a lot more than the student who has benefited from many rigorous courses from trained educators in conventional high school. In this day-in-age, why, intentionally put your son or daughter in this position, life is hard enough. Believe me, where ever you live, there are many fine schools. I consider myself fairly intelligent, but there is absolutely no way that either me or my husband would feel competent enough to home school our 16 year old in his Calculus or English HP class. I seriously have my doubts that Michelle has the intellectual smarts to be a “teacher” in these type of subjects. I certainly agree that the Duggar family is remarkable in many ways but, I think that they’re doing a disservice to their kids, especially the older ones by not embracing conventional education. After all, these kids are the ones that are eventually going to run our world!
