Meryl Streep’s daughter Mamie Gummer on acting and Mother’s Day plans
Come June 29, audiences will be able to catch Meryl Streep and herdaughter, aspiring actress Mamie Gummer (real name – Mary) in the feature filmEvening, in which they portray the elder and younger versions of thesame character. This isn’t the first time they’ve sharedthe screen together – Mamie was 18 months old when she appeared as Meryl’s daughter in Heartburn. But this time, she’s actually actingand the 23-year-old brushes off comparisons to her Oscar-winning mother.
I’m just trying to do my thing and differentiate myself.
WhileMamie is taking after her mother, she jokes that none of her siblings,David, 27, a musician, Grace, 21, and Louisa, 15, both students, arefollowing in her father Don Gummer’s famed sculpting footsteps.
My poor dad. My youngest sister doeshave an eye for aesthetics and a skilled hand. She is very interestedin fashion and design.
As for how they will celebrate Mother’s Day this weekend, the four will keep it simple, as they have always done.
Usually, it’s cooking breakfast. And just normal stuff, like a picture frame.

Honestly I find her stage first name a bit weird…It means “grandma” in my maternal language…
And as she is young… Lol!She should have kept Mary IMO.
However I wish her good luck to pursue a long and successful career, it will probably be difficult not to be overshadowed by her mom’s fame.

I thought the son’s name was Henry, not David. Maybe it’s his middle name? Anyway, I love the names Don & Meryl chose for their children — classics that will stand the test of time.

As madam pince points out, Henry, not David, is the name of Meryl’s son. And yes, Henry, Mary, Grace, and Louisa are classic, lovely names.
“Evening” boasts an amazing line-up of actors. It will be interesting to see what Mamie does with her character.
And though Meryl has only one scene in the film, it’s apparently a deathbed scene with Vanessa Redgrave. Woo-HOO! Drama junkies, we are about to witness cinematic history.
