Don’t know about Omi’s birthdate (though some sites give his year of birth as 1999, which would make him older than 6), but I believe Mekhi’s guest is his girlfriend Oni Souratha.

Mekhi and Malinda have always been vague about their son in interviews. This is the first and only picture that I’ve seen of him.
I also think he was born in 1999 because when the HBO drama, Soul Food (that Malinda starred in), premiered in 2000, Omi was 1 year old.

I’m an ER fan and I remembered reading about his son in the People Mag special about their 200 ep, so I dug it out and according to the 5/12/03 People Magazine, Mehki’s son Omikaye was 3. So maybe ‘99 0r ‘00. Either way he’d be 7 now since its around 4 years from the magazine date.

Remember back when he and Malinda starred in the movie “High School High” I think they hooked up on the set and were married like a year later.

Wow I didn’t know that.Thats funny how he was in the Soul Food movie and she was in the Soul Food series.I guess you learn something new everyday after all cause I had no clue who her son father was let alone the two of them being married previously.Thanks CBB for showing this.I’m a fan of them both.Mekhi’s fiancee’ is so pretty.

I love Mekhi. He’s one of the main reasons why I watch ER. Hah. I never knew he had a son, though. Cute kid.

I KNEW that he and Malinda shared a child because they were in an old edition of HONEY MAGAZINE and Melinda was spilling the beans. She sounded very insecure and he sounded like an ass. He basically said that after she had the baby, he would come home and could not receive any head. wtf? Well now, I guess his wish has come true. Go head pretty asian sister! ( i mean that literally and figuratively ; )

The Soul Foods series was on Showtime, as I recall. But anyway, as for Malinda and Mekhi, I never knew they were together until I read an article on them having had a past relationship and a son to show for it, who, by the way, is adorable and really does look a lot like Malinda.
His fiancée Oni is beautiful, too.

Their brief marriage and relationship was discussed in the now-defunct Honey magazine (http://www.blackwebportal.com/wire/DA.cfm?ArticleID=1307). He was basically a total dog to her–he cheated and didn’t even show up to the hospital when the child was being born–and the magazine gave him a full page to tell his side of the story and he just went on about how he was a man and she was essentially supposed to take whatever shit he dished out and on and on. I never had any opinion about either of them before but then I never saw someone given the chance to defend themselves against pretty awful accusations open his mouth and made it worse.
