Way to go, Sheryl! Babies evolved to be held as much as possible by their parents and other people who love them. Babywearing is such a great way to meet both babies’ and moms’ needs. I hope that Ms. Crow continues to babywear her son even after he gets to heavy for his moby wrap.

She’s probably just walking in the hills near her home, surely not for hours. Hiking in LA isn’t a big to-do, and it’s not that hot there.
I love that she’s wearing him, she seems like an awesome mom. I’m so happy for her!

Babies have been surviving for thousands of years without being cooped up in air-conditioned bedrooms.

Sunshine and fresh air are good for kids. There is no need to be so paranoid and overprotective.

It’s easy….if the baby is uncomfortable, he cries to let mom know. And take a look at the weather in LA; it’s nowhere near hot temps.

I disagree with previous commentors. I have slinged all of my children, in all weathers, under all conditions. Mothers and wee babes belong together. Babies regulate their temperature to their mothers. Mammals stay close to their young for good reason.

I think Sheryl looks to be doing great — keeping her little one close.

She looks like she’s having a great time! I have a Moby D and love it, but my favourite when my kids were newborn was my Kari-Me stretchy wrap. We’ve been out and about with all our kids within a couple of days of the birth and walked around half of Coniston Lake when my youngest was 3 weeks old. Newborns need to be held close and cuddled, changed and fed – but not cooped up for months on end!

This seems like a loony idea to me too.

It may not have been hot the day of her hike. Her “hike” also looks more like a steady walk. As a new mommy I carried my daughter in a Moby and she was quite comfortable. He probably enjoyed the buoying motion from her walking. Good for her with maintaining an excersize routine and involving her baby in all her activies.

Well, you are not her. And how do you know what the weather is like. Just because people do things differently then you does not make it wrong. I am sure it is likewise for you. Get off the blog if you have to be so neg. Most people are on here for the pics.
Oh it was 76 degrees on Tuesday in the valley so it is cooler in runyon cyn. I know because I live in L.A

a wrap sling is very cool and it’s the BEST way to go hiking or walking.
the baby doesn’t feel any of the bumps like they would in a stroller (and hiking, only a good jogging stroller with huge bicycle wheels would work)

The sun is good in certain amounts for preventing and alleviating jaundice.

I doubt she was hiking for hours on end.

when my daughter was that age, I had two other boys… so she would spend a day out with us at the park and spend much longer in her wrap (well, minus diaper changes) than Wyatt probably spent in his.

The best part is, she’s wearing it perfectly, keeping him high up on her body at chest level.

This will help regulate his heart rate and breathing, which is so important for small babies.
