"I just LOVE him and love the fact that he has turned into such a wonderful actor, partner and father. Good for him. The pic with the two of them together just melts my heart. My hubby looks at me like that still and I treasure it because some women wish they could find a good man who will still look at them the same way they did years before."

"If you ask Violet what I do, she'll say she remembers me bowing on stage when I did a show in New York, and so she'll say, 'My mom sometimes will bow on stage and sometimes she gets her hair and makeup done.' It's a great job!"

Bernie Mac talks grandparenthood

While many of his Ocean’s Thirteen co-stars are new fathers, BernieMac, 49, is a new grandfather. His daughter, Je’Niece, 29, gave birthto his first grandchild, Jasmine, whom Bernie calls "Jazzy," sevenmonths ago. The comedian is relishing being a grandfather – if only towatch Je’Niece learn the ropes of parenthood, he tells Jay Leno on TheTonight Show last night.

I love my daughter, but there’s a certain feeling, a certain emotionwhen you got a granddaughter, you know? And I’m happy for my daughterbecause she’s tired and she’s gonna get no rest because mygranddaughter just be looking for her all the time. She likes to holdher. But my daughter can’t go nowhere. She can’t do nothing. Mydaughter’s exhausted. She can’t get no sleep. She can’t even use thewashroom. She can hardly wash up and stuff. And Jay, I love it. It’spayback. I love it.

Getting serious, Bernie says Je’Niece was a sweetheart of a baby and he never had any problems with her.

My daughter was a beautiful child. I never had to baby-sit her tootough because I was blue collar back then – I used to comb mydaughter’s hair, take her to school in the morning. My wife [RhondaMcCullough] – she’s a nurse – she worked in the morning. I worked atGeneral Motors from 4:30 to 1 in the morning. My wife got home at 3:30,so she took her. My daughter, I never had a problem with my daughterbeing with me, doing nothing. So that was a beautiful thing. She was sosweet.

He can’t say the same for Jasmine, though, he jokes.

My granddaughter is different. She’s fair-skinned. She lets everybodyhold her but me. You know, I thought she was prejudiced. I did. I toldmy wife, ‘She’s prejudiced.’ But my daughter, man, both of them, nowshe laughs all the time. I just find I’d be telling her I love her. ‘Ilove you, granddaughter.’

My goodness! Grandad at the age of 49! ahahaha it’s funny, bc most men are being dads at that age! I wouldn’t imagine being a grandmother when I’m 49. Anyway, he was a young dad too, so…
    Funny…

How sweet! And I appreciate the fact that he’s been married to his wife so long and apparently through so much change. Go Bernie!

There is something so sweet about a man talking about his kids (and his grandkids).

Jazzy, cute nickname for her. :) LMAO,and she sounds like she’s going to be a handful, well,s he already is. She’s probably going to give Bernie a hard time and have him wrapped around her finger. ♥

Actually, the average age of a new grandparent in the US these days is 47. I was surprised when I learned that, but tis true…

    Either way, congrats to Bernie.
