"I just LOVE him and love the fact that he has turned into such a wonderful actor, partner and father. Good for him. The pic with the two of them together just melts my heart. My hubby looks at me like that still and I treasure it because some women wish they could find a good man who will still look at them the same way they did years before."

"If you ask Violet what I do, she'll say she remembers me bowing on stage when I did a show in New York, and so she'll say, 'My mom sometimes will bow on stage and sometimes she gets her hair and makeup done.' It's a great job!"

MSN highlights celebrity offspring that have followed in their dad’s footsteps for Father’s Day

Obviously actors beget actors, at least that the way it appears in a special feature presented by MSN for Father Day. In Daddy’s Footsteps highlights the celebrity babies who have grown up to trail their celebrity fathers right into the spotlight of the entertainment industry.

While many of the featured stars are very familiar from their occasional (or very frequent) appearances on CBB, some may surprise you –  here are a few highlights:

Actors beget Actors:

  • Two-time Oscar nominee Will Smith proudly starred alongside his own son Jaden Smith last year in his big screen debut Pursuit of Happyness.
  • Even a long-term estrangement can’t stop Angelina Jolie from being her father’s daughter.  The actress and celebrity mom has gone on to become just as big (if not bigger) of a movie star as her fellow Oscar-winner and dad, actor Jon Voight.
  • It Runs in the Family isn’t just the name of a film that these three generations of Douglas men have starred in together, it also seems to be a mantra of life for actors Cameron Douglas, his father Michael Douglas and his father Kirk Douglas
  • The Douglas’ aren’t the only ones to take that mantra to heart — screen legend Henry Fonda and his children, Peter Fonda and Jane Fonda, and grandchildren, including actress Bridget Fonda (Peter’s daughter) are also working to create a three generation legacy.
  • Emma Roberts, the daughter of actor Eric Roberts and niece to Oscar-winner/celebrity-mom Julia Roberts, will soon portray Nancy Drew on the big screen. You can read more about Emma’s movie here.

  • The Class star Jason Ritter has taken his deceased father, Three’s Company star John Ritter’s, place as one of the small screen’s favorite funnymen.
  • Tom Hanks is the quintessential Hollywood leading man, and while his son Colin Hanks has chosen to follow him to the big screen he has chosen a slightly different acting path, choosing to play in more offbeats films, like Orange County and King Kong.

Directors beget Directors:

  • Famed director Francis Ford Coppola may have learned quite a few things from his daughter, fellow director Sofia Coppola, but the love of film was something that he obviously taught her and taught her well.  Sofia picked up an Oscar in 2003 for her film Lost in Translation, placing her alongside her father and other directing greats throughout the history of the entertainment industry.

Musicians beget Musicians:

  • Bob Dylan is an idol for many aspiring artist, musicians, and bohemians, including his own son, Jakob.  Jakob, now a solo artist, once sung lead for the now defunct rock group The Wallflowers, who’s biggest hit was One Headlight.
  • However, one exception to this begotten rule is The Office actress Rashida Jones, who chose to stray from her music mogul/producer father, Quincy Jones’, path and has pursued a career on the small screen, having also appeared on Boston Public and Chappelle Show.  But it may not be that way forever — Rashida reportedly has good singing chops and one day may put her vocal skills to usage.

Now it’s your turn to make predictions. What celebrity babies do you think will grow up to follow their father (and/or mother’s) footsteps into the entertainment industry?

Denisse- Why just Shiloh? What about the other Jolie-Pitt kids? Personally, I think Z might very well grow up to be a model. I have a feeling that she will be an amazing looking woman one day (she is already quite the cutie-pie!). I won’t be too surprised if Maddox, Pax, or both of them end up as celebs of some sort either. Sorry if I sounded harsh or anything, it just upsets me when people act like Shiloh is the only Jolie-Pitt kids (I’ve noticed that, in posts like these, it is almost always Shiloh that is mentioned, not her siblings).

  3. Sarah Says:

why didn’t they include Martin Sheen,Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevaz? I find that odd and if I’m not mistaken there’s 1 or two other kids in that family that act too isn’t there? But however,I was very proud of them for including Bruce and Brandon Lee, as I’m a huge fan of both of them, though I think they could have gotten a much better picture of Brandon. And for also including John Lennon and his two sons Julian and Sean.

  4. NausicaaofWind Says:

I can definitely picture all 4 Jolie-Pitt kids becoming actors one day. Shiloh’s already an actress – Angelina filmed “A Mighty Heart” while pregnant, and now she has a part in Brad’s new movie, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” Shiloh’s been in movies before she even knows what movies are!

  5. denisse Says:

hey Annoynomus and everyone sorry if i just post shiloh is just that i was going to post a lot of kids but my lap top battery was of so i just did it quikly

i can see all the jolie-pitts into the hollywod world for sure.
