Kelly Clarkson doesn’t think she’d make a good mother
In a recent interview with Elle magazine, Kelly Clarkson revealed that marriage and motherhood probably aren’t in the cards for her. On having children, Kelly said,
My point of view is that I shouldn’t be a mother at all, because I’d be horrible. I’m not willing to be that selfless.
And on marriage:
I’m not keen on marriage. I don’t let many people in. Men come and go. Friends are what I care about.
Kelly told the magazine, for the time being, she is going to focus her life on writing, performing and being there for her friends and family.

Why not haing children would be selfish? I am quite sick of people thinking not having kids is selfish!What an insensitive judgement is that…
I think it’s quite the contrary, she is being responsable and mature!Also, she can be young and be completely sure about her choice and not change it later…

I can see why she wouldn’t want to get married her songs on her new album coming out 6/26 certainly hold truth to it! LOL
I love Kelly. I think she’s wonderful and I agree she’s young and she’s got plenty of time to grow up and decide later on. She’s in a good place right now and who would want to give that up.

I think she’d be an awesome mother but I don’t think she’s found a perfect guy for her so marriage & kids probably seem too far in the future for her. She’s def. someone who wouldn’t leave her kids to the nanny and go party all night so I hope she changes her mind.

I do have to agree that it seems a bit presumptuous to say that “right now” is her time to be selfish, and that it will change later.
Many women never have children, and are content with that. There’s nothing wrong with it. I find it nice that she’s being open and honest about it.

If she doesn’t have children. Good for her. I could care less.

Good for her that she realizes it and is making a choice rather than falling into it and messing up some kids and a marriage. If she changes her mind then great! If she doesn’t that’s great too. As long as she continues to be self-aware she’ll be fine!

I think she’ll change her mind when she finds a good guy. I don’t think she’s ever had a great relationship and she’s talked about having a lot of trust issues with her dad leaving her mom & her so it’s good she’s cautious about having kids if she didn’t find the right guy.

Hey some people weren’t meant to be parents and some already know they don’t want to be. Bravo for her to at least think about and if it’s not for her, it’s not for her.

[This is NOT directed at anyone in particular.]
I really don’t understand why people will often say things like, “Oh, you’ll change your mind!” when a woman says she doesn’t want kids.
Please don’t assume that we’ve made a rash decision. A lot of us have actually given it some thought. Kelly’s something like 25, and I’m not surprised that she’s made her decision. Her friends are probably getting married, having children, and she sees what is needed to be successful in the role of wife and mother. It’s not for everyone, and the sooner you realise it, the better.
I’m an elementary school teacher, and you would not believe how often people goggle at me when I tell them that I have no intention of having children of my own. I love children — I just don’t want any of my own.

I’ve been a huge fan of Kelly’s from day 1 of her days on American Idol and i couldn’t be prouder to be a fan of hers. I laugh at how many news stories are being brought up online about her not ever having been in love and how she doesnt want kids. This could have been just “one of those days” for Kell.. she’s very open about how she’s feeling at the moment. Two years ago she said a few times that she wanted “10 kids” .. i agree with everyone that she’d be an awesome mom! She has always said she wanted to be the “soccer mom”. And as for the not wanting a man thing.. i dont blame her! haha.. she’s been thru a lot and i know she’ll find the right guy eventually
.. and if not.. we’ll always get great music out of it (j/k.. somewhat). I love you Kell, keep lookin up.. you’re one of the smartest women i’ve ever seen and i know you’ll do just fine!

For a girl who comments about not wanting to let people “in”, her personal life she sure can talk a lot about just that, her personal life.

It’s great that she is so honest about her feelings towards children and marriage. I used to feel the same way, but I changed my mind as I got older and I am happily married and have a sweet baby girl and want more children!
She may change her mind or she may not, but at least she knows what she wants at this point in her life and isn’t afraid to be vocal about it! Not everyone wants to be a parent. Some people should be more honest about it like Kelly.

She didn’t say “selfish” but “selfless”. As in giving your all to the child. You can’t be selfish if you have children. She’s not ready for that. And some people aren’t. She’s only 25 and still young. Why rush into something you’re clearly not ready for because others say so.
Also, people say her view will change. It might. And people say “you don’t know what love is until you have a child”, but why risk that to see if you have that same feeling. She’s got her own opinion at this point so she doesn’t need pressure.
