Celebrity Baby Blog in City Weekly magazine
The Celebrity Baby Blog, a recent media darling, once again gained a mention in a magazine- this time City Weekly magazine, a Melbourne, Australia based magazine. The magazine quotes our Danielle about celebrity mothers, and what sets them apart from, us normal everyday mothers. Why are they so special and how do we relate to them?
Danielle thinks the fascination with celebrity mothers and their children comes from the fact that it is simply something that we have in common, with them. Probably the only thing.
Why the fascination? Friedland thinks it stems from the humanizing of celebrities. Non-celebrity women have pretty much nothing in common with celebrity women except for pregnancy and motherhood. It truly puts us all on the same level.
We constantly hear women (and even our readers) say; "how do they lose the weight so quickly and look so fabulous?" Danielle provides us with an answer;
The immediate weight loss is completely unrealistic (and unhealthy) for normal women. Celebrity moms have access to the best and complete care for themselves and their babies so they can get back to work. They have nannies, fitness trainers, nutritionists, cooks, assistants, etc. A normal mom can’t compete with that. I think most women are smart enough to realize this, though.
And Danielle’s favorite celebrity? Someone who is realistic!
Friedland loves actress Jennifer Garner because of her normality. "She does have a nanny but you also see her out with (daughter) Violet, [18 months] doing mundane things. She also dresses like a regular mom – she wears jeans, sweatshirts, and her diaper bag is a very unglamorous athletic backpack!"

Note to Ms. Freedman, still a loyal NW reader I see, the Beckhams did say they don’t have nannies because they didn’t have one AT THE TIME. They only got a nanny just before they moved to Spain. Before that they just had Victoria’s parents and sister and David’s mother and sister. The nanny’s “confession” was paid for by a tabloid that did this: http://tinyurl.com/2lkftj
She had several scenes in their official documentary and had been photographed a lot, even right next (gasp) to Victoria at David’s Euro Cup matches. How discreet is that?
Nice quotes from Danielle though, I just really hate it when non-celebrity magazines start using stuff from trashy tabloids as examples. I avoid them for a reason.

There’s nothing wrong with moms being stylish and not wearing sweats all the time and having a more put-together “diaper bag” or large purse. I’m kind of sick of people acting like that’s vain or odd. If dressing down makes you happy, great. If dressing down makes you happy, great. If putting more effort into your appearance makes you happy, great. To each her own.
