Jeff Gordon welcomes daughter Ella Sofia
With the birth of their daughter this morning, racer Jeff Gordon and his model wife Ingrid Vandebosch became parents at 9:09 am in New York City. Ella Sofia weighed in at 7 lbs, 1 oz, and is 20 inches long. She was born by scheduled cesarean section because she was breech, but let everyone know she was coming — Ingrid’s water broke on the way to the hospital.
In a statement on his website, Jeff said,
It’s been an absolutely incredible experience. Ingridcame through amazingly and we’re both really happy and overjoyed. Wecan’t wait to get home and start our lives together as a family.

congrats! however, i am disappointed with the name. it seems that they jumped on the hollywood trendy name bandwagon.
June 20th, 2007 at 8:23 pm
Congratulations! The name is popular but nonetheless, it’s still pretty and feminine. As long as they like the name they chose, that’s all the really matters.

Cute I like the name, it’s normal and feminine.

I was kind of hoping she would be born on Sun. so Jeff would miss the race. Congrads to Jeff and Ingrid though. I love the name and hopefully Jeff will show a pic of the baby soon!

I like how it states the baby was 2 weeks early. Ingrid was clearly pregnant when they were married 8 months ago.
CBB Note: She was two weeks from the due date announced. Whether that date was true or not, who knows.

Jeff stated in an interview earlier in the year that they found out shortly after the wedding that they were expecting.

Congratulations to Jeff & Ingrid! Jeff actually said in an interview on Yahoo Sports in mid-December that they found out that she was pregnant 5 days before their wedding in Mexico. The didn’t get married because she was pregnant though. They were waiting for the ok from the doctor before they announced it. He has made no secret of the fact that they were already expecting.
I can’t wait to see pictures of Ella! Jeff will be racing his heart out this weekend!

Congratulations to the new family. In an article on NASCAR.com it was stated that Ella was breach and Ingrid underwent a C-section for delivery, and while on the way to the hospital, Ingrid’s water broke. How was that for timing? Somewhere the other day I read the due date was June 29th.
