Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus, 14, is the newest teen phenom,but her parents, Billy Ray and Leticia ("Tish"), are making sure thefame and success won’t go to her head. More than aware of the harshside effects of stardom, Billy Ray and Tish are trying to keep theirdaughter as grounded as possible, they tell People magazine in itslatest cover story, often using the troubles of Lindsay Lohan, BritneySpears and Paris Hilton as cautionary tales. Says Tish:
I’m like, ‘Paris is in jail, Miley! It’s so scary as a mom tosee all these kids who are so whacked now. I don’t want to be too muchand have her rebel. Not that we think she’s going to do that, but Mileydoes have a very explosive personality, which scares me a little.
The biggest phenomenon in all this is that the kid’s been able tokeep her head on her shoulders. She hasn’t flipped out. I’m going toknock on wood. I pray every day she can stay on that path.

At home, Miley maintains as much of a normal life as she can. Shestill has her share of chores to do around the house, which includesloading the dishwasher every night, and she’s not exempt frompunishment either – computer privileges are revoked when she’sgrounded. She still gets allowance ($300 per month) and doesn’t haveany credit cards, especially after purchasing a Prada bag withoutasking her parents.
We’re really close. I feel like I can tell my dad anything. Whenwe come home, we forget that we even work together and just hang out.

I watch Hannah Montana a lot with the girl I nanny for and IMO it is the best show on TV for young girls, and I must admit I enjoy watching it as well. Billy Ray seems like a very good dad, and Milly seems very down to earth.

My parents were more along the lines of making me promise to move OUT once I turned 18! Miley is a very lucky girl to be that valued and cherished by her parents.

It’s probably just me but, their relationship weirds me out. Especially after reading a quote of Miley on here where she said that her dad is ripped and has a six pack. It really sounded like she checks her dad out or something.

I am a nanny and watch this with the girls I babysit and its a funny show. I love it myself and I am 23. Also I dont think her relationship is weird with her Dad. I am very close to my Dad because he has supported me through hard times and I think that when you have a very supportive parent you really cherish it. I think her saying her Dad is ripped is just her saying he looks great from the show he was on. I can definately see how it could be weird though to someone who might not be close to their Dad. Its hard for me to see people who are close to their mothers because I am not and so I guess when you arent used to something its definately weird. But I think they seem like a great family!

I love this show. I thinks it’s great. She does seem so normal, but I guess they all did at one time.
She wasn’t checking her dad out. She was asked what she thought about him being on Dancing with the Stars, and she said that it really got him into shape. I can tell you what my dad looks like without a shirt on, it doesn’t mean I have a weird relationship with him.

I really don’t like that show. We watched once and the character was really obnoxious. I think she told her brother like “shut you pie hole” or something and I was like “ok girls, no more”. It seemed like it was just one rude comment after the next. But I am strict with tv, so I’m probably not middle-of-the-road on this one.
Anyway, I love that she has such a good relationship with her dad. It is so important for girls. So- BRAVO!

I am really confused about all the children in their family. So Miley is the child of Billy Ray Cyrus and Leticia, but her 2 YOUNGER siblings are her half-siblings… which are not Billy Ray’s? Yet Billy Ray & Tish are together? …So confused.

Nevermind, I think I figured it out.
Okay, so Trace & Brandi are Tish’s from a previous relationship. Christopher Cody is Billy Ray’s son from a previous relationship. And Miley, Braison, and Noah are Billy Ray and Tish’s children together? I think. Haha. Wow, that took me long enough to figure out.

h. montana is such a great show for teen girls becasue its inspiring abot how top stick out the bad rimes how your friends aare always there for you yada yada yada…… yet sometimes i still wish that i could have the relationship that she has with her dad me and mine are not close at all.

Yeah the sibling relationships should be sorted out better, I thought that the two oldest Billy Ray adopted by himself and the two youngest were from another relationship! Wikipedia cleared things up for me:
Together, they have three children, daughters Destiny Hope (who is also known as Miley Cyrus), Noah Lindsey, and son Braison Chance.[3] She had two children from a previous relationship, son Trace and daughter Brandi.

Miley looks just like her dad Billy Ray, smile and all. I’ve only seen the one episode of her show where Brooke Shields cameos as her mother in the dream sequences. I can’t really form an opinion on the show, but it’s not the worst.
And she sounds like any other teenager to me, especially when she bought that pricy Prada bag behind her parents’ backs.

If you read the paragraph carefully you will see that it’s saying that Brandi and Trace are Tish’s children from a previous relationship whom Billy Ray adopted. Granted, it was worded awkwardly.

I work at http://mileytv.com, and I can say for myself, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT SHOW. Even though I am a child, I still love that show as much as Full House or another comedy show.

I honestly am not very impressed with the show. Miley could be a good actress but on HM I really think the characters are obnoxious and over act waaaaaaaaay to much. but that’s just my opinion.

I am 14 years old almost 15, and I LOVE everything about her. She’s been chasing her dreams since a child, and has ever since been sharing her wonderful talents to the world and meanwhile still being herself. Wether she is Hannah Montana or being Miley Cyrus, she is such a role model for kids and teens alike. She will be always admired and uniuqe, as long as she stays on the right path thoughout her life.You rock girl!

I am older and enjoy catching the Montana show now and then for a little while. I think with practice, Miley could become the next Carol Burnette. Maybe they should contact Burnette and Vicky Lawrence for tips. Miley has alot of talent as a comedic actress. I hope she listens to her family and stays true to herself, and not like some other past Disney stars. Miley could become the best.

I personally think Billy and his wife are doing a great job raising there daughter pretty good. If you look at some other celebrity kids you will see some of the hard things they have gone through. I started watching some of the hannah montana episodes and was pretty amazed at it. Im almost 26 and i can say that Billy has done a pretty good job and you can see how he loves his kids.

Miley is just like any other girl but living the popstar life. Having a big family like that must be hard for her.If i was like her i wouldnt know what to do with all the songs and chores and fans and all the drama that happens. i wish i could meet miley but so do like 1000000 other people so dont keep my hopes up and monday is my BDAY and would be awsome if i could spend a day withn miley but i knoow thats never going to happen (i will be 13).

I like the show Hannah Montana. Its just that to me, Miley darkens her hair everytime we see her. It makes me wonder if she /will/ become like Lindsay Lohan and others. On the DC Games closing ceremonies when she performed GNO, she was dancing a little too sexily for little kids. That makes me wonder too if her parents /can/ keep her on the right track and for the fame to not go to her head.
