Front page will display today’s posts only

I’ve been getting a lot of complaints about the time it takes the site to load (it’s because we have 5 days of posts on the front page and on a typical day, we post at least 20 articles) so I’m changing it to post just one day’s posts.  Past posts can be found by either selecting a date, week or month from the Archives drop-down menus to the left and above, or by scrolling to the bottom of the page and clicking on headlines.

We will be doing a massive redesign in late summer that will bring the site into the 21st century, but until we do, I hope this will alleviate some of the slowness and other issues.

I think that is a great idea! Way to keep the site running smoothly as always :D !

  2. Stéph Says:

I prefered the way it was before because when we miss a day or maybe a week, we can’t find all the articles that have been post in the past week.

CBB Note: There are two ways to find posts you missed.

The headlines at the bottom have been changed so every post from the past 5 days is listed there. Click the first one you missed and from there, you can go to the next story.

You can also click the ‘weekly archives’ at the top right, and the full week of posts will display.

i just wanted to say thank you so much for doing this. this site always freezed my screen and today it loaded perfectly. thanks!

  4. Sophie Says:

Finally. But I still think it’s a mess. I mean you are great with everything you post, it’s just that it is all TOgethER and hard to find.

  5. Jamie Says:

This is now worse, so if i miss a day, instead of having a nice stream of info i have to click on story links.

CBB Note: Again, if you prefer reading the week’s articles as before, you may click the weekly archives at the top right and it will appear just as you are used to.

We can not please everyone, and this is the best situation for the time being. You can still chose to read stories as before.

Okay… but when in the world are we gonna get an Anya update? :)

  7. Marisa Says:

Thanks so much for changing the front page. I love this site but even with DSL it would take more than 5 minutes for the front page to load.

I look forward to the new design later this year. ;-)

I think this is a great arrangment…But I have noticed that it is really more like one and a half days of posts that are on the front page. Today, for example, the front page contains all of todays posts plus about five or so of yesterday’s posts. I am confused!
