Tamia says pregnancy makes her MS easier

In an interview last month with Young, Black and Fabulous, R&B singer Tamia discussed her pregnancy, particularly it’s affect on her multiple sclerosis, which she was diagnosed with one year after giving birth to her 5-year-old daughter Myla Grace. The singer and her husband, NBA star Grant Hill, are awaiting the arrival of their second daughter, due in August.

I wasn’t really nervous because with MS, when a woman is pregnant, all her symptoms of MS subside. So it’s good to be pregnant. But you have to be careful because after you give birth, there’s a higher rate of attacks. So to answer your question, no, I wasn’t worried since I knew being pregnant was totally safe.

On top of not suffering from MS while being pregnant, the songstress says she has had two relatively easy pregnancies.

I’ve been so blessed through both [pregnancies]. I actually never had one day of morning sickness…I don’t even know what that’s about. And because I already have a child…and I was on tour the first four months…I can’t come home and sleep anymore. Life goes on. It’s a bit more difficult to juggle a pregnancy with another child.

As for baby names, Tamia says she and Grant haven’t settled on one yet, and their daughter insists on being part of decision-making process.

Although my 5 year old has suggested names such as Shrek. Yeah, we had to shut down those types of names. But you’re a little more relaxed with the second one. I’m not buying every single baby gadget anymore. We’re just waiting to see what happens with the name. Myla has given us some good ones too.

When asked whether she and Grant would try again for another baby,maybe even a boy, Tamia was adamant about taking it one baby at a time.

Wow. I don’t know. I wouldn’t rule it out. Idon’t really feel comfortable talking about another baby while I’mstill pregnant with this one.

Tamia says herworst habit when it comes to cravings is her addiction to sugar, butshe’s not that worried about losing the pregnancy weight.

It helps to have a husband that’s an athlete.Seriously. It’s still hard. I’ll be like ‘Why am I not losing weight!?’and he’ll say ‘Maybe it’s that chocolate cake you just ate.’

For now, while still pregnant, she’s exploring the new surge in pregnancy fashion.
