Steve Zahn maximizes family time in between projects
Rescue Dawn star Steve Zahn lost 40 lbs. and spent months in a Laotian jungle surrounded by spiders and maggots to make the film, but he says it was much harder to be away from his family, wife Robyn Peterman and their kids, Henry James, 7, and Audrey, 5. The trio didn’t accompany him like they do on most of his films because Steve, 39, was "sure not going to take them to some banana spider [set]." Since wrapping production in the fall, he has made the most of his time back home at their Lexington, KY farm.
You know what I’ve done for the past eight months? Honestly?I’ve been to every field trip with my kids. I drive them to schoolevery day and make them breakfast. I pick her up from school and takeher to ballet, drive her home and take her to gymnastics. I pick him up at 2:30 p.m., bring him home, give him a snack, watch a little SpongeBoband then we play outside. Right now, we swim every day for at least twohours. I have lots of time off. My kids really miss me when I’m gone.Though I’m going to Bulgaria for four weeks soon, then I come home andI get to play with them. Not a lot of dads get to do that.

I have loved Steve Zahn since I first saw him in “Reality Bites.” His goofy sense of humor cracks me up. He must be the coolest dad, because I don’t think he’s ever stopped being a kid.

Aaawwww. I thikn that’s so sweet about what he said about his kids and how he wants to be with them. =)
