Hi5 mom Kathleen de Leon Jones talks being mom to Mikayla
Former Hi5 member Kathleen de Leon Jones is quitting the children’s entertainment group to focus on being mother to Mikayla, 11 months. Kathleen has quit the program that she was with since 1999 and is instead looking for work in Sydney that will allow her to stay with her family.
I think that’s one of the reasons why I had to say goodbye to Hi-5, because it would be too hard to travel that much. I don’t know how [The Wiggles] do it, maybe it’s easier for a man – I really don’t know.
Kathleen is married to former Savage Garden star Daniel Jones, and feels she will be a better mother and wife by staying put in Sydney.
I’ve left Daniel so many times in our relationship, having traveled, and I finally want to be a wife and a great mum and be in one place. But if I can do it, and I think it’s possible, to stay in one place and to be on television – to work in the one place – that would be great.
Kathleen first went on maternity leave from Hi5 but now also feels she is ready for something new, saying,
Obviously I left Hi-5 earlier to have Mikayla, and then I suppose I made the final decision to say goodbye and thanks for a fantastic time – I’m ready for something else. I love [motherhood]. I mean, Daniel and I are very blessed to have such a great little baby.

i think that she has done the right thing quitting hi5 to be with little Mikayla.
I also quit my job when my oldest child ironacly also Mikayla was born in 2003. i got a new job closer when she turned one.
i then had my son about 13 and a half later and tooko maternity leave but didnt quit but then earlier this year when i had my second daughter i quit because then i didnt have to pay for daycare for all three only 1.
My oldest goes to preschool once a week.
