Naomi Watts celebrates impending birth with baby shower
Actress Naomi Watts, 38, celebrated the impending birth of her and Liev Schreiber’s first child with a baby shower held earlier today. She arrived at the party in all black, then changed into a floral dress to greet her guests.
In attendance were fellow celeb mom Kate Hudson (at left) and celeb mom-to-be Isla Fisher, (below) among others.

It seems kind of late to have a baby shower if she’s due any day. Maybe she’s due in August (but she looks past due!).
Sarah’s note: Well Liev said she’s due August 2nd…He’s been known to fib but maybe he wasn’t!

I was virtually positive, given the size of Naomi’s belly over a month ago, that she would barely make it into July without giving birth, never mind August. But since her belly doesn’t appear to have dropped and there’s no sign of her giving birth any time in the immediate future, maybe Liev wasn’t lying after all! We still don’t know for sure whether they’re engaged or not, married or not, etc., do we?

Lauren, Naomi wears a big old diamond engagement ring on the correct finger, so I’m pretty sure she’s engaged–plus, I vaguely remember one of them saying “fiancee” on Conan at some point (I think it was Liev).
I too, am amazed this woman hasn’t given birth and also think Liev must have been telling the truth about Aug 2nd, considering the baby shower is only just happening now.
I am also beginning to think she must have gestational diabetes, because that belly has to be holding a 10 pounder. She hasn’t seemed to gain weight anywhere else and looks fantastic, but that BELLY IS HUGE!!! I wish her all the luck in the world and can’t wait to hear that she’s given birth. She is by far my favorite pregnant mom-to-be!

Goodness she is big. I cant wait to hear what she had. She is one of my favorite people. She is one of the people on my list I would be friends with. And Liev is adorable. I cant wait till he is a dad.

Every time I see pictures of her I think “poor thing” because she looks so uncomfortable…let’s hope this baby comes SOON!

hmm – the twin comments got me thinking… wasn’t there speculation that she was having fertility problems before she got pregnant? rumors i guess – but if there is any validity in them – she could very well be carrying twins – or triplets…

I think you may want to change the wording up there about the moms and moms-to-be, my brother came screaming at me from clicking on my homepage (which is CBB) that he saw Kate Hudson was pregnant. I tried to explain that it meant she was a mom and the other girl was pregnant, but he was all HEEE about it.
On a lighter note, she does look so top heavy, reminding me of my former boss who is due like any time now (her last work day is this wednesday) and she’s complaining that she’s huge. I showed her a photo of Naomi the other day and said “No that poor girl’s huge.”
Here’s hoping it’s perhaps it’s two and like Daddy Liev’s teasing about the birth date, they’ve just been playing a ha fooled ya on all of us.

I have been wondering about the twin possibility all along. That’s why I finally mentioned it in my post above. It always seemed to me that she was carrying large. She is normally very tiny. She still looks great though!

I think if she were carrying twins, she would not have gone this far into the pregnancy since twins are known to come sometimes weeks before the due date. She doesn’t seem to be experiencing any unusual signs other than those of a normal pregnancy and impending birth of what we will probably find out soon of a large baby.

Whoever is taking the photos from a distance sure isn’t concealing themselves very well. And if they were in a helicopter or something, even worse!
I love how the one female partygoer has her arms up and is looking at the photogs like, “Do you really have to do that? We’re having a shower, for crying out loud!” And Liev is just looking at them, “Dude, seriously, photos of the baby shower? Do you not have anything better to do?”, while Naomi is just laughing it all off. I don’t know she does it, but it is funny how desperate the photogs are. But Liev at least put it back on them by getting his camera and taking photos of them! Love that!
And Naomi looked pretty in that sundress she wore at the shower!
Seemed to be a nice little get together.

One other thing, I don’t know if that’s her dog trotting by her in the photos at JJ, but it’s a cute little thing. I think it adds to the photo itself, too.:)

Kate hudson is so cute. Naomi I’m thinking if she is having a baby shower now, she might not be due till maybe mid august, and her belly hasn’t dropped at all yet either.

She doesn’t look any bigger than any other pregnant person to me. Her ankles appear to have started swelling. I remember that all to well. She normally has very skinny very skinny legs, feet and ankles. Her legs still look skinny but she definitely is starting to swell. Mine swelled really bad with the summer heat.

Liev does look annoyed at the paperazzi and he has every right to be. Especially if they used a helipcopter

It does seem pretty late for a baby shower, She sure cut it close!!! Even if she is due August 2nd I definitely don’t think I would have cut it that close!!!

I think she’s swollen, we just can’t tell. She wears the same shoes every day, probably because they are the only ones that fit her feet anymore! (That’s what I did toward the end.) She’s still very cute, and I love seeing photos of her! Can’t wait to see the baby!

Oh, Diana, calm down! It’s all sympathy… She does look big and it *is* the hottest two months of the summer and she *is* heavily pregnant. And given how thin and svelte she was before pregnancy, and the fact that she appears to be literally ALL BELLY (like Bridget Moynihan) it’s a little shocking.
I agree – she does look large enough for twins, but they’ve never mentioned it either way. Maybe it’ll just be a big baby.

Naomi looks great! It is amazing to see how high up, and for how long, some of those babies stay. A friend of mine had a similar-looking belly at the end (and just a singleton, babe was a normal weight). She just carried really, really high until she went into labor, when the baby dropped. Looked just like Naomi does now!

Diana, nobody is calling her fat or ugly, just commenting on the sheer size of her belly. She is not big anywhere else, which is why the belly looks even bigger than normal. I personally do not think she’s having twins. I was really big in the belly at the end too, so I sympathize.
However, there’s no doubt that’s going to be one giant baby. Liev is very tall and for all we know he was an 11lb baby, so she could be in for a big one. I only brought up GD, because her belly is so giant in comparison to her body, which probably means the baby is bigger than normal. I’m not slamming her at all. I think she’s beautiful and looks great pregnant. She looks much better than I did at 9 months along.

I got pretty big and was all belly, too. Turns out I had a physical reason for my baby not dropping into my pelvis, which was the reason for my c-section in the end. I carried straight out in front of me and my daughter was only 7 lbs. Anyway, her body might be the same way as mine was.
However, she does look abnormally large in the belly…who knows? I guess we’ll all find out-I think it’s funny how they have kept us all guessing!

My due date is August 2nd as well and my belly hasn’t dropped either. Baby’s still sitting high up. My daughter was the same and I had a nice uncomplicated birth. A friend of mine was also about as thin as a rail, (not much bigger than Nicole Richie) before she was pregnant, but her pregnant belly was GINORMOUS! She ended up with a 9 lb baby girl, not really a big deal. She just carried very, *very*, large. After she had the baby she was like Keri Russell, you’d never know the girl was ever pregnant. No two women experience the same things during pregnancy. There is no way that she would be due Aug. 2nd with triplets, she would be on bed rest and multiples are always preterm. Twins are almost always born between 36 and 38 weeks and mom is usually on bedrest as well. Remember Marcia Cross? I genuinely believe that she’s just carrying big. It happens. And the diagnosis of gestational diabetes because her belly is large is ridiculous. It really irks me when people try to diagnose a person through a picture.

I’m due August 22nd and my belly looks about the same size as hers. She’s small framed as I am and all belly. I feel for her because people have been thinking I was due about 3 months ago too.

Just because she seems to be “big” doesn’t necessarily mean she has gestational diabetes for goodness sake. She looks larger because she wasn’t a large woman in size to begin with. I also suspect that if she were carrying twins it would be all over the media. She’s just at that end stage of pregnancy where she looks large because of the position of the baby. And it’s miserable being that far along in the summer in the heat. Been there, done that twice with two almost ten pounders.

She is still pretty but HUGEEEE,iam due in 4 days and this is my 3rd but i never been that big and the baby already had about 8.5 lbs last time my OB/Gyn checked her..maybe she is really going to have more than 1??!!

For those who thought Naiomi is cutting it close having a baby shower so close to her due date, I respect your views, but believe it or not, 11 years ago I had my baby shower the day before my daughter was born. It wasn’t planned that way, but danged if my daughter had her own plans with her emergency c-section entrance. LOL Quite honestly she had one heck of a traumatic entrance, was transferred to another hospital. Spent a total of two weeks in the hospital at birth. The past 11 years haven’t changed much in terms of things being on her terms and not ours. She really keeps us on our toes. But truthfully I wouldn’t have it any other way. (Longtime lurker, first time poster–Great blog!!)
