Congrats to her and her husband on a healthy baby boy! I was wondering when she was going to have her baby, like Naomi Watts she seemed to be pregnant forever lol! I’m sure he’s a beautiful boy.

Cute name! I actually liked that name when I heard it in the movie The Girl in the Water or whatever it was called. Its so different but not to far out there.
July 30th, 2007 at 1:42 pm
aw, congrats to them! how lovely!
July 30th, 2007 at 1:46 pm
not too fond of the name, but congrats!!!
July 30th, 2007 at 1:48 pm
Yet another celebrity baby name that cries out for attention.
July 30th, 2007 at 1:50 pm
I can’t say I’m a fan of the name, but I’m happy the baby is finally here! I agree–it seems like Jenna was pregnant for ages.
Twelve years from marriage to baby–longer than most people wait. Does anyone know if Jenna has ever said anything about difficulty conceiving?
Sarah’s note: No she said she got pregnant right away. They just kept thinking they had all this time and then it hit them that they were already in their mid-30s. You can read her Plum mag interview here, where she talks about it.

On the rep’s comment, TMI, but thanks.
Congrats though.

I am so happy for them. Can’t wait to see pictures. Does anyone else think she resembles Faith Hill in the posted picture?
July 30th, 2007 at 2:21 pm
Congrats to them. But Story as a first name is funny to me.
July 30th, 2007 at 2:39 pm
I smiled at the rep’s comments– I love a boob baby! Congrats to the proud parents!
July 30th, 2007 at 2:52 pm
Love the name!! I was waiting to see what they came up with, I had a feeling it would be unique. It is, without being weird. I’ve always loved Jenna and her humor. I like the shout out Story gave his mamma. Congrats to them!
July 30th, 2007 at 2:53 pm
Congrat for her baby, but come on Story as a first name, hollywood seems to get crazy with weird name
July 30th, 2007 at 3:34 pm
I’ve heard of Story for a girl, but not a boy. I like it. I knew she would pick a unique name – glad it’s not another Henry.
July 30th, 2007 at 4:12 pm
im so0o happy for the two!! ive never heard of the name Story, but i tend to be all-for unusual baby names, and i like that name!! im sure he’ll be a cutie!! CONGRATS!!
July 30th, 2007 at 4:28 pm
I’ve always loved the name Story for a girl; not as much for a boy. Congrats to them!

I thought she was supposed to be having twins? Maybe I read that wrong, but I could have sworn that I read that somewhere. hhmmm…?
Sarah’s note: No, you’re right — her husband jokingly said that to Entertainment Tonight. The post was corrected once she said she was having a boy (in March, I think?) and posts since then have mentioned that it was just one boy. If you click ’son’ in the post, it will take you to the twin/corrected post.

Why are all these celebs naming their kids such strange names? Do they not realize the kid is stuck with this name for life… or until he or she decides to ditch it and make the change legal?
That said, Story isn’t the strangest name I’ve seen…
And gross on the rep’s comments. The public really doesn’t need to know that.

Is Story some sort of Scientology name? I’ve heard Jett and Pilot and some other airplane related things are Scientology names (maybe b/c of the sci-fi aspect of the religion?), so I thought maybe Story was also one too. Anybody know for sure?
Such an…um…unique name. Can’t say I’ve heard it before, can’t say I’m a fan of it, but I’m sure Story is a beautiful boy. Congrats to the new parents.

I love the name Story and its connotations. Beautiful.
To PSB, I don’t think there are “scientology” names as such, like the strong history of judeo-christian/hebrew/biblical names. John Travolta loves planes and is a pilot himself. He’s mentioned naming Jett in an interview before.
I think Pilot Inspektor (or however it’s spelled) was just a weird celebrity name for Jason Lee. Like that actress who named her kid Audio Science.
July 30th, 2007 at 7:36 pm
I don’t particularly care for the name but it is quite unique. I do agree, she seemed to be pregnant forever. This is a baby booming month. I personally know 3 people who just gave birth, 2 that are expecting any day now! July is a busy month for babies all around!
July 30th, 2007 at 8:17 pm
Thanks Lilybett. I really thought that Jett and Pilot were Scientology related names, but maybe I was hallucinating!
Does anybody know anything about the origin of the name Story (or the origin as it’s use as a name)? Is it just using the word as a name or does it have some kind of historical connotation? A lot of you have heard it before!

What a stunning picture of Jenna! As for the name, I saw it recently on some parenting mag’s list of “cutting edge” names or something. It was probably Cookie Magazine seeing as that one is particularly “out there” and pretentious at the same time, LOL. I think Story could actually grow on me. There’s something peaceful about it. Congrats to them!

Is Elias the middle or last name?
Congrats to them–LOVE the name Story!
Sarah’s note: Middle. His last name is Elfman like his parents.
July 30th, 2007 at 11:59 pm
So happy for the Elfman family… Jenna was unbelievable playing basketball so very pregnant not so long ago. Has anyone heard if Jennifer Duggar of the Duggar Clan has been born?
July 31st, 2007 at 3:09 am
Congratulations to Jenna and Bodhi!
I love the baby’s name, especially Elias! My son is also Elias. It is pretty popular name here in Finland.

Oh thanks, Bren! I’ve heard of Story used as a name before but I can’t remember what movie. It’s the title character of M. Night Shyamalan’s movie Lady in the Water. I’m a big reader so I love the name, although I think it fits better as a girl name. It’s pretty unisex though. Congrats to the new parents!

elias is really nice name, but story? hmmm… interesting at least
July 31st, 2007 at 11:46 am
Out of all the “unusual” baby names floating around Hollywood, I actually really like this one and it doesn’t seem too strange or out-right kinda dumb (Audio Science anyone?)
Is Elfman Jenna’s husband’s last name? I’ve noticed that the majority of actresses keep the name they had when they first hit it big, so that’s why I was wondering.
Sarah’s note: Yes. The only major celebs I can think of who changed their names professionally are Jenna, Courteney Cox-Arquette, Christy Turlington Burns, and Victoria Beckham. I’m sure there are more though.
Others have changed them personally — like Jennifer Garner is Jennifer Affleck, Jennifer Aniston was Jennifer Pitt, and Jessica Simpson was Jessica Simpson Lachey — but still use their maiden names professionally.
As a side note, Jenna got popular in 1996 after she had already been married for a year, so I don’t know if she would be known by her maiden name in the first place…

Our 3-year old son is named Story. He was named after 5-time NASA shuttle commander Dr. Story Musgrave.
The name is Norse. A solid Viking name. It derives from Storr, which means Large. Large in stature. Large in achievement. Large.
As a surname, it has often been passed down as a girl’s name.
But it would appear things are changing.
(Oh, on a strange note, our Story’s best friend is named Elias.)
