Matt Leinart and Brynn Cameron settle child support fight
The child support battle between NFL quarterback Matt Leinart and USC basketball star Brynn Cameron came to an end last week. TMZ is reporting that Matt will pay $15,000 per month in child support, around half of what Brynn’s lawyer had requested Cole, 9 months, receive.
Matt and Brynn will be back in court on August 13th to discuss their custody agreement.
Child support payouts are based on a number of factors, including a percentage of the income of the parent the child spends less time with, and is based on the custody arrangement as well.

That’s what I thought would happen and the ammount that IMO, is fair.

That is a ridiculous amount of money. Yes i know it is a percentage of what he makes and i understand that. and yes he should pay for his child but it does not take that much money a month to take care of a child. It would make more sense to give her a few thousand dollars a month and put the rest in a savings account for the baby’s college education. There are alot of people who raise children on a heck of a lot less. some men don’t even pay that much a year.

Wow, that sure beats the $28 that I get weekly!!!! Who says the world is unfair.
July 30th, 2007 at 2:39 pm
No, that’s not a ridiculous amount. And I’m sure that she’ll be responsible with it. She seems like a very level headed young lady.

glad Brynn is getting a fair settlement. Child support goes by each parents income and in this case…Matt makes a heck of alot of money! I hope she puts some into a trust for the baby for college and for him later on in life! I am sure she will be responsible about it.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Bryn doesn’t have to spend all that money right now, right? I mean, for all we know, she could be putting some of that money away for Cole’s education. I agree with Melissa that that would be a wise way to use the money, but I don’t think that’s too much in child support. Let Cole be able to enjoy what his dad earns. It’s unfair that other kids have to get by on a lot less, but hey, there are a lot of celebrities who make a ton of money and spend a ton on their kids.

Wow…that’s a LOT of money to raise a child.
I know that it’s a lifestyle/income bracket thing for them (and I’m not criticizing here, just in awe), but it does not take that much money to provide for a child in a month. Really. Wow.
I mean, $15,000 is over a third of my take-home income in a year. Having that much a month would support a very lavish lifestyle for baby Cole–I hope that there are investments in the works (again, not implying that there are or aren’t).

Its not just a matter of how much money it costs to care for the child. I know in several states its also a matter of ensuring that the parents don’t have such grossly different lifestyles. i.e. Daddy is loaded and Mommy struggling. Conceptually I think its a great idea. But in reality, I think sometimes the courts go overboard with awarding one parent too much money (or not enough – depends on the case). No perfect solutions when it comes to to any of this….its certainly tricky.

haha. Must be nice! When I was a kid my dad only paid $18 a month for me.
July 30th, 2007 at 3:10 pm
I just hope this is the last of it…

I think it is a good amount, she is getting more than i get all year, but I’m not bitter why shouldn’t the baby not benefit from his father’s income? Like i’ve said before baby cole should enjoy the same lifestyle that he would if his parents were together. Good for them for coming to an agreement

I suppose its all relative — wait until the Kim Porter boards come up – they are saying $100,000.00 a month. Wow! Makes $15 seem like pocket change (though in comparison to the $0 that I receive, they are mighty deep pockets!) Good luck to little Cole and his family. It’s nice to hear they are working things out for his sake.

Based on Brynn’s recent behavior in badmouthing Cole’s father, I pray that Matt is given full custody. And I know that the courts certainly badmouthing the other parent into consideration.

I think everyone is forgetting that Brynn is still in school and I don’t think you can live in a dorm with a baby. I don’t know whether she is from California of another state, so she might not have family there to help her out. She’ll need a place to live (in southern cali. thats not cheap) and nanny or somebody to help her while she’s in class, practice, and games. Of cours she’ll need to do homework while maintaining a good gpa to stay on the team. I realize it’s not his responsibility to support her however she can spend the money how she pleases. I personally think the child should live the same lifestyle as the parent.

California is a very expensive state to live in and Matt makes Millions per year; I think we’d all be ticked if Matt was living in the lap of luxury and little Cole, well, wasn’t…it’s not unreasonable for Cole to have a quality of life comparable to his fathers.

Amanda,
Bryn lives with her parents. They help her. The detailed interview she gave should be here on CBB( or linked @ least) and is on people.com.
$15k is more than enough for Cole and any child. I wish courts would make/force/demand
parents put some of child support in college funds/savings accounts.
In the interview Bryn gave last month she said she’d be moving to an apartment near campus, so no doubt her kids’ $15k is helping her with her apt.
Since Matt is richer, I wonder if her had to pay Bry’s court costs ?

the LA area and Bay area..infact the whole coastal area of Calif…housing is very expensive……and she is in school still..I think I read where she was going to get a place near the college…and she will need help with childcare…..plus….men in his position…good looks…plenty of money…need to take care…and not plant those seeds…where they don’t want them to grow…..im sure he can afford the best protection there is…..

The legal system is sooo catered towards women. 5-7 grand is more than enough dough.
