Update: Aaron Stecker welcomes son
Update: The couple’s new son has been named Dorsett and it is reported that both mother and son are well and healthy.
Originally posted July 30 at 3:55 p.m.: Aaron Stecker, who is vying for a roster spot with the New Orleans Saints, has been granted a leave from training camp due to the imminent arrival of his son. The running back’s wife Kara is scheduled to give birth tomorrow, Tuesday, July 31, to the couple’s second child.
When asked if he wanted his son to be a football player, the 31-year-old replied,
No, I hope he’s a golfer. I’d much rather play golf with him than watch him play football.
The couple also have a five-year-old daughter, Skylar.

Good for him! A fine example of a man who knows whats really important in life. His kids are very lucky to have a father like him.

I remember when Shaun Alexander was late to an NFL game, so that he could be with his wife for the birth of her daughter. Being a HUGE sports nut, I am betting that Dorsett is in reference to my second favorite Dallas RB ever – Tony Dorsett, who also has a son who has played (is playing???) professional football, Anthony!
Congrats to the Steckers and may you make the team again this year!!!
